I learned more in this video than in 20 videos together from other channels with millions of subscribers to the point that I had to write everything down in a notebook. Thanks for the tutorial QuickAssTutorials !!! One more thing, what filter do you recommend for sunset?
Sunset : Depends !! Which ever allows you to respect the double the "ratio" of FPS (24 / 30 / 60) vs Shutter speed (1/50th - 1/60th - 1/120th) .... if the 16 ND is too dark and you don't want to raise the ISO (more grain) put on an 8 ND filter .... or no filter at all. You have to be the judge of the situation ! do some tests
The perspective from this was invaluable. When you said "the defaults are too contrasty, too dark, kinda zombie looking, and it's a little blue" It put to words all the reasons why the default footage just felt... off. Thanks for blessing us with this video, helped me a lot.
I appreciate that you have a real mechanical keyboard on your desk. Idk if you've looked at or gone down the custom mechanical keyboard rabbit hole- as seen on Taeha Types channel- but you totally should. I'd 100% build you one if you wanted, I've made tons and been building for almost 5 years now. It's a game changer and you'll never go back, the buttery smooth feeling and satisfying thocks/clacks depending on the sound signature you want... unreal dude.
Love the directness of your videos, got what I came here for, learned a technique I had never seen before (vibrancy and saturation) and was out in under 10 minutes! Great tutorial.
You’re very aggressive with comments like “shut up you need one” and “dad with a handycam at a soccer game” and I absolutely love it and here for it. Keep up the blunt great content
OMG ! Finally someone who understands that control mode 3 is more natural ! Everybody uses mode 2 (I think, maybe it's 1, the default one) and I just can't understand why !
Excellent tutorial… no wonder u r my number one spot for anything drone related. Plz I need one on mavic air2 seems it’s been left out since the evolution of the air 2s. Thank u 🙏🏼
Recently picked up the Mini 2 after watching this video. Having said that - Resolve is by far superior to FCPX and even Premiere IMO (I used Pro from 1.5 through 6 before they went to ransomware model). Needless to say - You gained a new subscriber for your no BS information - same way I operate in my work as a photographer with my clients and now as I begin a new chapter in my content creation work as a Part 107 Drone Operator. Every piece of advice you gave in this video I spent $$$ to use on my Mini 2👍👍👍
I've started using filters to achieve filming at the 180° rule, however, I'm sometimes struggling with my images being too dark early in the morning or late in the evening. I tend to underexpose my footage to between -0.3/-0.7 for range but I was just wondering if it's essential to film everything at 24fps and 1/50 to achieve motion blur. Is it best to adjust the shutter and forget about the motion blur? Many thanks in advance. Keep up the amazing content.
If you buy a MicroSD card you should check that the writing speed is enough for the resolution/fps you're going to shoot... (it happened to me, and it isn't funny: you start recording but it stops after like 15 seconds)
Thanks for the tips, I'm going to make some of these adjustments to my mini2. Will you make a video about how you go about getting permission to fly places? Some of your videos look like castles/mountains in Europe and such. How did you go about flying there? Thanks!
Great tutorial! I would also love one for the Mavic Air 2. I tried to download your excel sheet in a previous video but it didnt seem to work. Also thought I got from another of your videos that you said I could pretty much shoot in the normal (auto?) instead of Decinilike with the Mavic Air 2 because the results was almost the same (im a bit bad at color correcting). I have the fly more combo with the 3 ND filters pack but not really sure when I should use the 16 ND and what other settings to change when I use it. I would also LOVE to see a tutorial of when you edited that famous KPMG skyscraper picture you have in your videos in Lightroom, because that picture is amazing!
oh the night time shot quite yes yes quite Yeah, not auto but with the default color. I shoot in normal and adjust it lightly because nowadays it’s closer to usable in normal than it is in dlog where you have to adjust farther to get it to look nice. It also helps you with some guidance incase you haven’t grasped color grading yet
Hey, how are you.. I rally need your advice..!!! Just quick fast .. what brand of ndpl filters works best for mini 2.. (lightest as to avoid gimbal overload, and best glass or results).. please I know your busy but id really appreciate your advice on this.. you seem to be the most knowledgeable outta the 100s of film makers on UA-cam.. thx in advance...
I have no footage yet, but I will edit in FCP 7, yea I know so 2010 LOL...I would never edit on my macbook, as you point out the color is 'bold' but very inaccurate.
You said in the vid comments just ND filters and not the CPL ND. Why not the polarized filters? Waste of money? Subtracts from the vid quality? One more fiddly-bit to mess with which isn't necessary? (I'm asking because I bought a set of CPL NDs, not knowing your recommendation.)
polarization is different depending on how much you turn the wheel, so its inconsistent. You also get a weird video game looking sky, trees and leaves lose gloss which makes them also look too flat. Half the time it shift white balance a bit and mine looks oddly green that way. Just isn't worth the stress for the 1% of the time you need to film a lake with glare on the water at exactly the right angle from the sun.
Also you say the drone saves the footage in a weird way. I’m new to those but I heard about “luts”. Do you have these presets where you can just apply a preset to lost footage or so you really need to manually adjust each code in post production?
Great tips. I found a while back on a $40 toy drone, sticks were impossible. Since it was 100% user input with no stabilizing, I ditched the sticks a poof...I could fly it in the house with out crashing 1 second after take off. Some people talk about pinching the sticks, and I am thinking thumbs all the way. This is tip video #2 and it is straight to the point and you gained another Sub. - Cheers
Not many fly with no sticks. I happen to fly that way myself. I find it easier to control with my thumbs on the ball. I wish they would make a smaller stick basically a small nipple to insert in the threaded ball controls. Great information, subscribed.
Yeah like how the gamecube had that little yellow stick that was never used. I would rather deal with that then the awkward long sticks. Just augments any shakiness
i have the mini2, looking to step up my game and get nd filters .. with that said mini 2 is tiny .. do nd filters affect the operation of the gimbal.. please advice thx.
wow final cut pro way more complicated than premiere, I just use davinci resolve but I haven't ever color graded yet. I got the mav mini 1 and I barely fly it out bc I barely go out and if I want to use the mavic mini I have to charge 3 batteries, make sure the controller is charged, and that I have my SD card ready, and have my Ipad charged bc I'm not trying to use my iphone because it eats up all the battery, and have the longer cable for the ipad and make sure I have the ipad mount for the controller. All of that on top of people sketching out about a drone or people complaining about a drone eventhough it's under the 250g law.
Thanks for suggesting using stick mode 3, the right stick function more like a stirring wheel, gas paddle and reverse gear all in one place, I find it easier for my brain to grasp it. I find it easier to keep a steady super slow forward movement while adjusting the position of the drone super slow to the side left or right while taking a Hyperlapse.
Do you have another one of these for the maverick air 2? Or is it the same? I absolutely love this videos and im interested in possibly watching ur classes
If you use a neck strap you can brace the controller which makes using a pinch grip on the thumb sticks easier. Whether that's better than just taking them off or not is up to you.
great videos!!! I have a question... I am dual citizen, American and Hungarian. I am working on my part 107. When I go to Europe, do I need to take something like the 107 to fly legally and make footages to sell? cheers
Hi Alex, I see skyreat now has normal ND (Natural Density) and NDPL (ND POLARIZED) filters for sale, is the polarization a necessity or does it not really matter? On amazon they have 2 sets for the mini2 - one with PL and then the old/normal just nd. I also noticed that the 'new' PL filters have little 'wheels' on the filter. I presume these are to set the PL level? Again is it worth even getting the 'new" with PL or just the original?

I'm a 4K 30p guy. If I need to, slow the footage down to 80% and conform to 24p.
1/60ss Polarized ND16 filter
"shut up...u need one" made my day XD

Your video convinced me to get the mini 2 thanks a lot
Wonderful ratio of footage to very intelligent content!
Modes are completely subjective. Don't switch just because QuickAssTutorials uses that mode.
Hahah! I just love how passive aggressive you are. Instant sub!
Excellent tutorial. UA-cam perfection

great video, I am impressed
I'm using 2 DJI drones to record 3D printed rocket launches. It's a dumb idea, but someone's got to do it.

Awesome. So much information in a short amount of time.
Flying without thumbsticks, this mans a menace to society 😂
Great video, I was hoping I can use these ND filters on new mini 3 I ordered few days ago.

Could you make color grading (preferably davinci resolve) for beginners?

Looks like the advanced gimbal settings have changed and seem to not match up anymore to advice in the video.
Thanks for all the great info !
Thanks for sharing
Awesome Video!! You Are Amazing!!
Why when I change to Pro mode the live view turns into a black screen?
Removing those thumbsticks makes such a difference
Got any tips for color correction with Media Composer?
Great tips. I found a while back on a $40 toy drone, sticks were impossible. Since it was 100% user input with no stabilizing, I ditched the sticks a poof...I could fly it in the house with out crashing 1 second after take off.

Great name.rotflmfao!!
How about première rush instead of premiere pro ?
BTW, have you bought that vacuum on your basket?
Which one?
Not many fly with no sticks. I happen to fly that way myself. I find it easier to control with my thumbs on the ball. I wish they would make a smaller stick basically a small nipple to insert in the threaded ball controls. Great information, subscribed.

I made some custom sticks with a video game controller attachment called Kontrol Freeks. It's a domed rubber pad. Works amazingly well.
in the rainy UK the ND filter is a killer :))
What about adobe lightroom?
nice tutorial......Shrek hands 😂
Super! Nice video 😊 liked & subscribed, thanks for sharing 👍

NO nobody mentioned that the Mavic 3 Cines weren't even out of China yet. Finally Shipped Friday, it'll be here Thursday
Davinci resolve is king
I’ve heard some people say film in 30fps and then change it to 24 in premier pro to get a better look. What are your thoughts on that?
Appreciate this video! Question could i use my mini 2 for real estate photography?
If you use a neck strap you can brace the controller which makes using a pinch grip on the thumb sticks easier.
Whether that's better than just taking them off or not is up to you.
Could you make a video settings video for the m2p for best cinematography?
Really nice , do you know what's the best screen / monitor for editing colors accurately & color grading ?
