Being Nicaraguense I am not neutral but I have to say that I love the food from my country I think it is great and I wish it was more exposed to people here in the states
I love how a true Nicaraguan saw this video!! I love the food as well! I made this video because I felt Nicaraguan food was under appreciated and under exposed. Hopefully we can change that gradually! 🙏😊🙏😊
@@jennyfur.h yes right! I think people only associate hispanics with Mexican or Puerto Rican style food and we have sooooo much more and great flavors in Nicaraguan cuisine. We don't have enough places out of Miami that expose others to put food
I want to say thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for this wonderful video, about my country’s food, you hardly hear about it, I am proud my country and the food. Again, thank you so much for this wonderful video.
I’ve tried the other Nicaraguan restaurants in LA and Portobanco’s flavor is the closer you’ll get to Nicaragua! I took a few friends from work and they have been mesmerized and it makes me so happy! Two things, I guess they don’t do the Quesillos in the bag due to Food Policies from California so you missed combining all the flavors to make it perfect! And well, I understand the Nacatamal size they have but nothing better than a big real Nacatamal! Everything else is perfect!
@@losgarcia5648 yes you're right! I didn't know they had another restaurant out the valley! Maybe I should look into whether that place is still around
Baho in Nicaragua is never served with rice. The only reason I can think they serve it with rice is to be able to give you a smaller portion of the baho itself. I lived in the US for over 30 years and ate baho cooked and sold by nica ladies and they would give you rice with it, but as any good nica would say, please no rice. They didn't like it but complied because they knew that Baho like nacatamal is the meal all by itself.
I’m in Cleveland; lived in Nicaragua a number of years and love the food! If I ever get to LA, I’m stopping by! When I saw the quesillos, I was reminded of my first attempt at eating one out of a plastic bag at the bus station… what a mess! 😂
You didn't try the juices! Anyways, try coming to Miami. They have some of the best Nicaraguan food. Also, you have Peruvian, Colombian, Venezuelan and so much more!
I was so full but I did get to try the dishes after I got home!! Wow nothing like Central American fruit. So sweet and refreshing! Ohh I did do a video on Venezuelan Arepas!! Check that out if you haven’t already, I’d love to hear your thoughts! I will definitely get around to Peruvian and Colombian cuisine soon😊😊
Im going to stay hush until the video is officially released!! Be sure to watch the premiere as I walk you guys through my experience with Nicaraguan cuisine!

I agree! I’m Nicaragüense too! My mom makes these exact dishes and it’s so cool to see it being recognized 😁
