Same here, mine is in the shop(somebody rear ended me). They gave me a brand new ix1 M sport as a rental. As soon as I started driving it, I felt like I went from a horse to a donkey.
The BMW was definitely more roomy on the inside, heck even comfier by a hair. But the Polestar is more practical for day to day use, and also a lot more fun to drive.

Been waiting for you guys to review this, and coming from an owner you pretty much summed it perfectly. I'm 6'4", ordered the car online having never sat in it and hit my head on the roof the first time getting in. The seats thankfully go down, and I eventually found a position that was really comfortable. After about a week I learned to love how it hugs you. Obsessed with how it drives compared to my old Model Y, and I personally like how it's more understated compared to the Tesla.
FYI - you can turn the HVAC on in the car by hitting the "play/pause" button if the car isn't in gear.

I saw one of these on the road (and another in a parking lot) in Toronto recently, and I have to say, they look SO good in person. SO much road presence, such a handsome looking car. I don't even know another word for it. It's just handsome and pleasing to look at, and totally unique compared to anything else on the road today. The closest aesthetic comparison I could think of would probably be a modern Lincoln Continental, but just, cleaned up, much more muscular, and with even better proportions.
Pictures definitely do not do it justice though, I did not hold this car in as high regard until I saw one IRL

I love my Polestar 2. It was a huge gamble at the time because the market was so insane and the technology was, and still is, so new. It’s worked for us though and charging overnight with an installed level 2 system at home has been such a blessing. Always starting your day with full battery like your iPhone is such a convenience! Also there is a power tube that Polestar just release that bumps the torque to over 500 and the horsepower to ~480. Of course I bought it even on a leased vehicle! Only negative on this car is the rear glass visibility is seriously almost as bad as a Camaro. Make sure you like that before you buy one.

Got my P2 in Oct 2021 and after 15 months, I'm still loving it. My only nitpick would be the UA-cam Music app which I use to play music from my playlists. Sometimes the streaming/downloading doesn't work, so I have to switch to a bluetooth media player app and play the music from my phone which is more cumbersome. I wish the UA-cam Music app in the car would allow you to download your songs and playlists and play them from storage instead of having to only stream them.

I wanted a BMW i4 initially but your rant is the exact reason why I chose a Model 3 over one. My Tesla is a perfect daily driver but that's about it. I miss the handling dynamics, the way the seats hug me and especially the fit and finish quality of a BMW. I drove from Toronto to PEI last Summer and A Better Route Planner routed me all the Superchargers along the way. But when I changed the car to a BMW i4, it said I wouldn't be able to make it. Once Tesla releases their Superchargers to the public like in Europe and/or when these public chargers get their shit together, I'm trading my Model 3 for an i4 in a heartbeat.

Happy New Year! Love the video as always guys. If I can make a suggestion is to separate the review of the EV infrastructure from the car review. Upon starting the video I was under the impression the Polestar was bad at charging (when its been great on other reviews) but it's actually because of the crappy Ontario infrastructure. I feel you could have spent more time reviewing the car instead. I would have love to know more details about the not being able to use the App in Canada, is it only for the Pre-heating?
What makes the Polestar attracting is that in Canada, it's one that you can get really fast compare to other models.

I think I would have been happy with both.
Polestar has more firm suspension and maybe sport version I feel are more 'sporty'.
I4 feels more 'luxorious' and M50 definitely has power to match.
For me P2 infotainment is best there is. Google navigation is awesome and I like that all touch points are pretty big. Easy to hit while driving.
During winter traction control is way better than in I4 (or M3P). I do not kill all the power immediately when your turn steering wheel (I4) or randomly put power back and forth (like M3P).
Noise levels with similar tyres pretty much same as in I4 M50.
Many of the shortcomings of early P2s (like mobile app, TCAP reset stuff, ...) are fixed in current versions.

The rear visibility is limited but still adequate, and the cupholder is not a problem for me, as I don't like to eat or drink in my cars. My Ioniq5 Ultimate was in the body shop and had a Polestar P2 for a week - during the epic snowstorm *of the Decade* in Vancouver. Yeah, laugh... but it was a real Eastern snow- dry and voluminous. Roads were horrible. The series of storms would have shut down Montreal for 1/2 a day. Yet, the car drove like a dream on the non- M+S all-season tires.
Compared to the Ioniq5, the instrumentation and screen layout in the Polestar seemed much more integrated and coordinated. It is way prettier all-round, for sure. While the Ioniq5 has landmark styling, I prefer the 'normalness' of the Polestar sedan. But...
That said- I way, way waaaay prefer my Ioniq5. The Polestar felt cramped in every way. No real elbow room. No real knee room. Poor headroom and getting in and out was a pain- literally. The way I had to stoop over to get in and out hurt my neck. I found the screen controls to be clunky. I found that the materials, no matter how vaunted they are to have been recycled, seemed cheap with hard or almost-hard plastics under the fabric. Fit and finish was poor. There were squeaks. Seats were uncomfortable with "numb-ass" setting in in a single hour of driving.
The range isn't as good as the Ioniq5. There's way more room in the Ioniq5. As you stated, there's no remote app to start the car to heat it. No 'accessory mode' for running the sound system so if you're on a bluetooth phone call and put the car into park, the infotainment system cuts out very shortly thereafter. Its acceleration logarithm is different; slower off the mark with the power applied more gradually than the Ioniq5 so from 0 the Ioniq5 will beat the Polestar. But the worst part was how cramped the car felt.
And the Ioniq5 (even if you buy after-market) is cheaper at the top trim than the Polestar at top trim.
Someone just asked for more head-to-heads. Here's one: Polestar P2 v. Ioniq5 Ultimate.

By the way, It takes a lot of snow to close the roads in Québec... We are used to it, and equiped to deal with it. I think you meant Toronto, not Montréal, like they call the army when they got too much snow... :D

Hey guys, we’re all loving your videos. Doing the same consistent tests and roadways is great to show how each car performs. How about a decibel meter in every car on the same road to give a baseline since “road noise” can be hard to determine subjectively. You could even do coasting or under full acceleration if you felt that was worth it with some noisy motors or fake pumped engine noise.

And you can actually sit in the back of the Polestar 2 without actually having your knees above your shoulders.
