I’m a pianist but love watching these videos. It’s great to have this insight, thanks!
great lesson thinking about just the numerals saves me so much space to think and feel the colours and moods the chords bring.. especially in keys im less used to think in
Such a great lesson! Wish I had this many years earlier 😀
Im new to bass, i am a jazz guitar player but I always wanted to play the bass. Your videos help me a lot and I love it ! Thanks a lot !
Thanks for watching and for the lovely comment Abraham! Happy Practicing -Bob
Thank you Bob!
Thanks for watching Andre!
Great Bob- greetings form the UK ( though lived in Soulard a while)
Great lesson sir , could you do more like this , I like the segment on root movement that really helped a lot. Awesome lesson sir.
Hi Troy. Yes indeed, I have plans to do more tune study in future sessions. Thanks for watching and Happy Practicing! -Bob
I love it! Thank you. I‘m a guitarist and just got into double Bass. I joined your fundamentals course.. looking forward to the next practice session!
Thank you Simon! How's the practicing going? Best, Bob
@@OpenStudioJazz It‘s going great. Currently working on Intonation and shifting Positions + bowing. Had a lesson from my father in law.. he‘s a violist. Just played some Blues from Ray Browns Bass Method.. and some easy Standards . Actually the hardest things at the moment are bowing, my 4th finger and shifting/intonation.. but it‘s fun and I‘ll keep practicing . Greetings from Germany 👋
@@simonhofstettermusic Nice!! Sounds like you're getting into the good stuff 😊👍
very good stuff. Thanks!
Thanks!
What model/brand bass is that? It sounds great with you playing it! Strong fundamental and no buzzes.
Thank you! It's an unlabeled German flatback bass, estimated to be from early 1900s. It's in need of a little luthier love, but it's a great bass and i love it.
@@bobdeboo8549 How does one go about finding a good old bass?
@@blueeyedsoulman Find any violin shops, google 'double bass' to find places that might specialize near you. Where are you located?
Good online resources would be talkbass.com and the International Society of Bassists...both places to find bassists trying to sell their own basses.
@@OpenStudioJazz South Florida. I use a 35" scale Fretless hollow body bass guitar to emulate an upright. Low open E does not cut it. I tend to avoid that note or hit it softly. Thank you. Why, when playing a note like open A or D, the left-hand goes as to hit the note an octave higher on another string without actually playing it?
