Cillian Murphy's Reaction When Asked If He Has Watched Indian films

- Let's learn a few words from this clip I hope you learned something new 😊 We'd really appreciate it if you could share these videos and give us a follow❤
Cillian is such a down to earth, genuine person. No faking anything even when it might feel like an awkward moment.
@@CreativityThelraq What part is terrible for Muslims to say?
Isn't "Slumdog Millionaire" an Indian film? If so, I would bet Cillian HAS seen that and just doesn't remember.
Update: Thank you to all who corrected me. It's based on a novel by an Indian author, but it's a British film with a British director.
@@CreativityThelraq To be honest, I didn't hear Cillian say anything like that, User-co. . So I don't really know what you are talking about and couldn't even guess what he meant. But could it be that you are referring to a different video, or perhaps that English isn't your native language, and so, with his Irish accent, you have simply misunderstood him?
In this video, the only thing I heard him say, before he was interrupted by Djimon, was, "No, I don't think I have. I don't think I have. Which I know is a terrible thing to say ..."
(Or something close to that, anyway.) And by "I don't think I have," I interpret him to mean that he can't remember ever seeing an Indian film, so he might have, but doesn't think so because he can't remember one.
And as for "I know that's a terrible thing to say," I think he really meant it was an unfortunate thing to have to ADMIT to because it implies he might have a low opinion of Indian films and had purposely ignored them OR that he was maybe a lazy actor who hadn't kept up with all the films he should have. But in any case, he's simply acknowledging that his saying he's never seen one, or can't remember one, is probably going to imply something unflattering about either himself or about Indian films or film makers.
I hope that helps, User-co, altho' I'm not sure my explanation is any clearer than his words were, lol.
@@CreativityThelraq You are most welcome, User-co, and I am very, very happy that I could help with your translation. And it is a special pleasure to be communicating with someone from a different country and culture, and especially one as nice as you seem to be.😍
And just to reassure you, although your translator may have made those few mistakes, it must still be a very good one because your English is quite good most of the time!
From my heart to yours, I wish you a very, very happy, peaceful and prosperous 2024!!🤗🤗🤗💕
P.S. Are you saying you would like to ask a question about Peaky Blinders? If so, please do so and I will try to answer, although I only know what I have seen on UA-cam shorts. I haven't actually watched the show.
He says that's a terrible thing for ME to say. Meaning he feels bad for not having seen Indian cinema. He didn't say for Muslims to say. He said "for me to say" @@CreativityThelraq
Half of the Indians might have not seen bandit Queen let alone recognising shekhar Kapoor! Hats off to the man! Should have mentioned his name too along with Murphy.
I am one of the half who donno it
@@dwitchhyou should watch it .. its amazing
I only know seema biswas acted in it. Got some award !! Ignorant me !!😢
He's Djimon Honsou
I have seen it. Available on UA-cam as well.
He shouldn’t feel bad. It’s not a terrible thing to say. It doesn’t mean he has something against India or Indians. A lot of Indians haven’t seen Irish films either.
I guess he felt bad to the person asking the question. And I won’t expect the polite Cillian would ask her back if she’s seen an Irish film.
Exactly people making something out of nothing again
The BBC did Indian films every weekend during the 60s 70s 80s , I saw bandit queen I'm sure late 70s or 80s , Friday nights was foreign film night BBC 2 I think and bbc1 Sunday afternoons , of course now you get more on netflix , cilian just didn't have the choices when we had 2-3 channels in 70s lol, a choice between two crap progs or a foreign film , what you gonna choose 😂 , sometimes the films were duff too tho , problem with more channels is you miss out on things that you wouldn't normally watch , or in your youth you were out more living instead of watching ,
To be honest, there are a lot more people abroad who have watched Indian films than Irish films :D
@@keelfly fair enough
He's really a man of integrity. There's something old fashioned about him. I've followed his career since Red Eye, he was mesmerizing in it. I'm so glad to see him getting the recognition he deserves.
He’s a disingenuous woke phony. He doesn’t live in India, why would he watch Indian movies. This is a joke
I first fell for him in Batman begins ! He is very intriguing
It was 28 Days Later for me. That movie just evokes feelings in me that I can't explain. He was so brilliant in it 🥴❤️

I'm not going to name any names because I don't want to bash anyone. I just think it was mature of him to tell the truth and not worry that it might make him look a little uncultured.
@@MoriahgI am sorry, but most of the old celebs of Hollywood have come across Indian films due to our stars like Amitabh and SRK
Cilian is simply new to cinema so we can’t expect much from him in terms of cinema knowledge
@@ironicaaz3593 He's not new to cinema lol, he's not Hollywood/American if that's what you mean. He's also said he avoids watching dramatic movies or binge watching while he's working on a project. Many famous Indian actors are also known best in the West for their roles in Western cinema, or non-Bollywood 'Indian' films. I'd be surprised if most celebs had seen many Bollywood films.
I don’t respect that. I respect the guy who went out of his way, as a professional, to connect with someone else culture. Let’s not push each other to be mediocre, please ?

I DON'T. It's OK for⚪️ people to feel discomfort.
@@thejen24😂

@@thejen24 No it isn't
Djimon Honsou is 👍👏as an actor, definitely deserved the "Best Supporting Actor" for Blood Diamond, doesn't get the roles he deserves, hopefully, he too has a turn of events!
Because Hollywood is so racist and a user. Perhaps, he refused to bend over for some degenerate director or producer!
It's not a terrible thing to say. You didn't, period. Either you didn't care or didn't happen to watch a film from an specific country, it's no crime at all. You are not forced to watch movies from every single country in the world
He is grown up in nigeria, Africans are more exposed to indian films than the rest of the world
I'm peruvian (South America) we have seen a lot of indian films
You are right, British people however don't really get to see Indian movies unless maybe you specifically are trying to find one on the internet. Most of the movies we are exposed to are American, British or Australian.
In France, we are fans of indian films.
@@jackwhitbread4583 Unless you have some British Indian friends and visit them lol
Same here in South Africa since we have a HUGE South African Indian community and even non Indian people have seen many Bollywood and even some Nollywood movies but a lot more Indian. Me as a white South African Guy used to lolve the Indian action movies on a Sunday evening
I love both responses. Cillian didn't fake his reality even if some celebrities would, and Djimon was trying to remember the name of that movie so we wouldn't think he was faking it lmao. Both seem to be really pure in their answers
Djimon was not faking it, and neither was Cillian. Both of them were being honest. So yes both responses were great. Good to see honesty in celebrities, it is not common.
It was a bit rude that he interrupted Gillian though

You shouldn't be happy someone put up the definition of poignant. You should be upset that people are fkg idiots
😂😂
hahaha I did wonder why that happened
It's legit one of those words that I've always had a slightly wrong definition for, I honestly appreciated the correction lol. I think I just thought of it as like, "making a really good point"
😂😂😂
I am deeply impressed when I come to know that Djimon Hansou had seen Bandit Queen and even remembered its name among a lot of forgettable Bollywood movies. This is absolutely appropriate for the lead actor of The Amistad to be sensitive and responsive towards the characters of the Bandit Queen. The Amistad is the tragic story of African Slaves, while The Bandit Queen is the tragic story of a Low Caste Dalit woman who struggled violently against the oppressive forces of society which tried to keep her down in a slave-like state of life. How very similar the two stories are!!!
🙏🙏🙏
Not only is cillian down to earth but he also acknowledges how he wants to now that it’s been brought to his attention. He’s real but also kinda and caring
Glad he watched "Bandit queen" . It is the right kind of Indian film which I would recommend some foreigner.
I now what I'm whatching next weekend
Thx for the recommendation, more or less.^^
Was thinking to perhaps extend my horizon with "Polite Society" last year, but see now it seems to be a British movie. And unfortunately didn't watch it.
Is 3 Idiots an indian film? I believe it was a huge hit even for us outsiders
I’d recommend RRR or Monkey Man
what are other ones?
Why is it a terrible thing to say? Nobody has to watch anything if they don't want to.
He just said that so the lunatic liberals don’t call him an uncultured white cis male
because then 2billion indians gets offended easily
I love movies and I try to know at least one from every country. I would feel a bit embarrassed if someone asked, and I said no because it suggests their movies are boring, not worth attention, etc. even if I simply haven't seen anything yet. I imagine it can be the same for him, since he is an actor associated with cinema and respects this art. Maybe he felt ignorant at that moment.
I thought the same thing. Nothing wrong or bad about it. It would be terrible to lie and pretend you love something you don't. I've always thought Bollywood films would be shit. Full of silly singing and dancing. I know what I like and that isn't it. I'll watch Scandinavian films any day, I think maybe it's the setting of them that I like. There's nothing brutal about "I haven't seen an Indian film, before."

Cillian Murphy is trying to be respectful to the Indian audience. Also, he works in film and India has one of the largest film industries in the world, rivaling only with the American film industry, so it's probably a bit embarassing for him to admit he hasn't seen any Indian film ever.

The question made them both wriggle
My grandad was a cinema projectionist and from time to time would show Bollywood films at an arts cinema in our city. The whole Indian community would come out and turn the place into a giant party. Nobody watched the film really. It was more about getting together for a feast. They used to bring food up to us in the booth and it was great. Curry, samosa, bhajis ... you name it. My dad used to go to a cinema,in Manchester that showed Indian films, and during the interval we would queue up to by samosas and kebabs. I couldn't understand what was being said so I had to ask my dad what was going on.
