@@weis_eats Cooked radishes have such an a nice flavor and texture, often unexpected for those who have only ever eaten raw sliced radishes in salads (which is also nice!).
I made this tonight and it turned out great! Very aromatic, the entire house smelled divine. I need to pay attention to the stock next time, I almost reduced it completely away and had to add chicken stock near the end. I didn't have Shaoxing wine, so I subbed with half and half sake and rice wine vinegar. I also used chili flakes instead of a dried chili. Definitely making this again. Wings and potatoes are so cheap, this is a great budget meal.
Love to hear it!! I usually simmer on the lowest heat so the stock doesn’t evaporate, I should’ve been more clear in the video. Sounds like smart substitutes to me! Very happy you enjoyed
My picky ass girlfriend (love her to death) enjoyed this recipe in its entirety, that's how you KNOW it's good. BIG WIN!!! Might I suggest you add a quick list of instructions // ingredients in the description for those coming back to your videos for references? Moreso for those (me) needing to check off a few boxes while grocery shopping / cooking and prepping. :D Anyway, love your channel! I've watched everything you've posted thus far and hope to see more from you soon. 'Til then, take care. :)
I'm very familiar with using cola in cooking; so even without that as a novelty, this recipe looks fantastic. If i didn't just eat, I'd prolly make it right now.
this dish looks soooooo yummy the only thing I would change is high heat for the chicken first to get it super crispy on outside and then reducing the heat for the remaining of the cook time
since the skin gets braised as well, all the crispiness you get at first will get lost. Unless you braise the chicken with the skin above the liquid, and with the lid off. Otherwise the steam will take away the crispiness as well.
양념치킨 is my go to wing but this sounds like a very good take on a wing flavor i would enjoy. i think putting it with 닭갈비 might be more up my alley though! like to marinate before.
@@weis_eats oh my bad! sometimes theres issues with how to spell stuff but i said yangyeom is my go to and putting it with dakgalbi would be really good!
I wonder if this would work with diet cola. Has anyone tried it? Maybe the diet cola that is made with sucralose (Splenda) rather than aspartame? Maybe the sugar is a must have. I'd appreciate constructive feedback on this question. Thanks.
ive been making a very similar dish except with skin-on boneless cuts of chicken. Same exact flavor cept I can get bites of the meat wit the rice and dont have to dirty my hands.
@@weis_eats - same but i love my crispy baked wings, that are my go-to . So in those situations I have some of the brazing uh... gravy??... that ill toss wings in.
4:40 If you're buying fortified U.S-made rice, cleaning shouldn't be necessary? No need to change what you're doing--if it works, it works--but I just wanted you to know not to worry about it too much
I did clean the rice, you might've been watching without the volume on? I said I washed the rice so ppl didn't attack me in the comments lol. Thanks for the compliment! lmk if you like it more than your version which sounds fire
Someone else asked this in another comment, but I’m not too sure how the flavors would compare since we’re using the sugar in regular Coke, but since Coke Zero doesn’t have sugar I really dunno 😅
I'm 67, I've been using cola for 30+ years, yes, I learned this from a South Texas Mexican friend... Tenderize, Boil, Grill... MMmmm good
if only more people knew about this
South Texas is a national treasure when it comes to food. The 956 area code fuses Texas BBQ and Mexican styles, it's really really good.
Pork ribs braised in half coke and half ketchup reduced to a thick glossy sauce is delicious also. My mom's recipe from 40 years ago. 😋
Sounds amazing! I’ll have to make that
I've made cola braised wings a few times, never saw them with potatoes, that's a new twist. Great video!!
Honestly, the braised potatoes might be better than the chicken 😬
That boiling cola looks appetizing!
Radishes might also work well, either in place of the potatoes, or in addition to them. In any case, it looks delicious.
I frequently use radishes as well!

This remind me of cola marinated chicken we used to make during teenage time.

I can’t read Korean but I’m gonna assume whatever you said is fire 🔥

Looks amazing and am going to try it. Anybody know where to get the flats only? I've searched to no avail.
this recipe works with both flats and drumsticks!
I definitely want to eat this dish.
Super easy to make, try it for yourself!

I’ve personally never tried it, but you should! Let me know how it turns out!
Potatoes AND rice, no sure about it. Otherwise, looks delicious!
Make it however you like. I like potatoes and rice

that's a great idea. I just love wings too much hah

@@weis_eats Yeah and I'm just saying you don't need to worry about it either way, it's a weird thing that people care one way or the other
Ahh I misread your comment my fault! I’m not sure if my rice is US made, so I wash it just in case out of habit :)
Hi, enjoyed the video very much ! How long should the chicken cook for?
total cook time around 30-40 minutes. Any longer the meat will fall off the bones and you won't have wings any more. Thank you!
Would Coke Zero work? 😁
Someone else asked this in another comment, but I’m not too sure how the flavors would compare since we’re using the sugar in regular Coke, but since Coke Zero doesn’t have sugar I really dunno 😅
such a handomse boi. Loved you're video king.
Thanks for watching!
David DastalmAsian.
I'll stick with crispy. Palid skin is not appetizing
sure, stick with what works for you!
Ain’t no way I’m cooking with soda
Yes that's right because you have to do something else with tweezers.
