How Chinese Chefs cook CHICKEN CHOW MEIN 🍜 Mum and Son professional chefs cook

- We have done a few chow mein recipes before, but this one is slightly different, before we showed you how to use poached chicken to make the chow mein, this time, we're showing you how to make it with velveted chicken, we've also made this tutorial far more detail in, where we answer the most common questions we get in chow mein videos that we missed in past recipe videos, like why do my noodles stick? Why do my noodles clump together? The more like takeaway or takeout version is found in our 1st cookbook, this is more like an old school recipe. Hopefully this video will refresh some stuff for you guys who have seen our work before or if you're new, teach you some new techniques to make really tasty noodles at home, and if I'm honest, I do think this version of chicken chow mein is much better than most Chinese takeaways and takeouts out there.
If you want any other dishes, please comment them below, it really does help our channel and the content we make.

Yes please! I’d love to see more traditional Chinese food content.

I think this is the most informative step by step video you have made as every ingredient and every step is masterly described
Thank you, thats means so much to hear!
Definitely agree! Detailing each step helps us lot out with the random in kitchen questions so much!
totally agree @satchore, i love all the videos but this one seemed so simple ,maybe more simple basic recipes is the way forward ?
love the channel guys , chicken chow mein is the house favorite here 😋
It’s one of ours too :)
What you explained on cutting your onions THIS IS CALLED SHREADED… helpfull
Ive watched your videos from the start and im embarrassed to say havent commented before - i know it helps you with the algorithm!
These in depth videos are fantastic. Its fine copying a how to step by step, but to get people cooking properly they need the information behind why you do things a certain way.
And yes id love to cook something more authentic 👍
That’s ok :) and it’s not until we make the videos and see the comments we release what we’ve missed, as most of this is second nature to us and don’t even think

Traditional Chinese food sounds amazing it would be great to see the more authentic food
A chef once told me that the most simple dishes are often the most difficult to get right, as there are usually limited ingredients that need perfectly balancing....this recipe underlines this theory; Having just followed your instructions, these few ingredients have produced a 100% perfect Chinese take away chicken chow mein ! Subscribed and looking forward to trying more of your fantastic recipes.
Thank you, means a lot to hear!
I have watched one of your other tutorials for making chicken chow mein and gotten great results. Helps that I got the recommended ingredients from your shop for best results.
thats means alot to hear :)
Looks fantastic have to give this a go. Some takeaways serve sloppy noodles which I hate. I love a nice dry chow mein and with that Smokey taste which I now know you get from cooking the noodles properly. Great video thankyou
You both cook lovely food and I've learned so much. Thank you.
Glad we could help!
Love your videos, I recently bought your cookbooks, the best!

That look's gorgeous thank you both x
😊😊😊
All the chow mein dishes in my local chinese takeaway are wet/gravy versions. The only dry noodle dish they do is bami goreng.
This looks excellent, I'll make it asap. My general experience with noodles is that they stick like arseh@les, thanks for the tips on how to avoid.
Technically wet chow mein is actually low mein, chow mein is dry and lo mein has sauce 😊
Excellent tips,Thanks
😊
Looks amazing!
Thanks 😊😊😊
Would love to see traditional chinese recipies

Another great video. And highllighting the issues people may have at each step was really helpful.
😊😊😊
Great insight in to Chinese takeaway cooking. Great video as all ways.
Thank you 😊
Probably my favourite Saturday morning breakfast
Nice one 👌
Yes! Love that
Yes please velveting and seasoning. Just had to say I've recently made your best version curry paste and my word its tremendous stuff. Im a chef nearly 26 years and love a Chinese takeaway afterwork. I've tried to replicate the curry sauce for years and never got anything like close to the real deal. A massive masive thankyou for that gem of a recipe. For anyone saying it looks a lot of work i beg you just push on and make the damn paste😂. When ever i open my fridge and see that paste I still can't believe i have the "actual" answer to my search for curry heaven🤯

Would definitely like to see more on velveting meats. I first discovered this process years ago via a Ken Hom book and it was an absolutely game-changer, so it's great to hear you do it in the takeaway
We’re probably one of the very few who still do

Going to try this recipe. I've been following your channel for years. I followed your recipe for the spare ribs and the salt and pepper chicken wings.
They were delicious.
I've now been asked to do a load chicken wings and spare ribs for the next family buffet.
Please do 😊😊😊
