- Christianity arrived in the Philippines together with Spanish colonization, but it became a fount for resistance against oppression.
Three and a half centuries after the first Easter Sunday Mass in what is now the Philippines, the martyrdom of Fathers Jose Burgos, Mariano Gomes, and Jacinto Zamora inspired Filipinos to seek freedom and nationhood.
To cap the sesquicentennial of the GOMBURZA's martyrdom which was commemorated last year, we make available to the public this documentary about their life, death, and legacy.

Watched this after mapanuod yung MMFF movie na GOMBURZA, napakahalaga pala talaga nung ambag nila sa pag-alab ng kagustuhan ng mga Pilipino noon na makaalis sa pagkaalipin at maging pantay ang karapatan. Dpat talaga sa lahat ng antas may History subject, mahalagang hindi natin makalimutan ang mga ganito dhil sa naging parte nila sa bansa natin.
Isn't it ironic? Rafael de Izquierdo wanted to end the uprising by ordering the deaths of the priests, pero it paved the way to our independence? Instead of stopping, it ignited the fire.
Kudos to NHCP for this documentary! Nawa ay hindi kayo mapagod at patuloy na gumawa ng mga documentaries like this. Mabuhay ang Pilipinas!
I watched this after watching the movie GOMBURZA and it was so heart-wrenching. Schools should require watching that movie and this documentary piece.
This is such a great documentary! I was always familiar with the GOMBURZA but this video put into perspective how their tragic end spurred on the eventual fight for the Philippine Independence. I hope many more watch this video. The music and direction is amazing as well! Thank you NHCP and I also appreciate the captions! I learned a lot from this.

Grabe ibang feeling yung naramdaman ko buong video na parang kala mo kaisa ka sa kanila nung mga panahon na yun. Ang ganda pati ng sound effect kaya lalong nakapagpa goosebump everytime.
Sana gumawa ng series ng mga ganito at ipalabas sa tv gaya nung '90s para magkaron ng knowledge ang mga bagong henerasyon sa ating kasaysayan at mas mapahalagahan ang ating bansa na pinaglaban ng marami nating ninuno.

Hindi ko alam, pero as a History major at enthusia, naiiyak ako at tumatayo ang mga balahibo kapag binabalikam ang 1872. Napapa isip nalang ako na totoo ang faith at ito ang role na ibinigay sa tatlong pari ng panginoon upang dinggin ang mga panalangin ng noo'y mga nilalapastangang mga FILIPINO.

I am watching tnis honourable documentary on Rizal Day 2023. The back stories helped to connect the dots of our History and culture, fervent narratives that are not found in our History textbooks. One of the historian-narrators, Luisa Camagay, is my UP High School classmate. I do not have enough gratitude for the production of this documentary. God Bless you all and Mabuhay ang lahing Pilipino!
Kakatapos lang namin panoorin yung GOMBURZA movie, at talaga namang binigyan nila ng dramatic effect yung buhay ng tatlong pari.
Ngunit, masasabi ko na iba pa rin talaga kapag documentary, sobrang detailed at informative. Mas naging malinaw sa akin yung pinagmulan ng Gomburza at kung anong klase silang mamamayan sa lipunan.
Sana more documentaries like these pa po para mas lalo pa natin maintindihan at maunawaan yung pinagmulan ng ating mga bayani. Kudos po, NHCP👏🏻

Your documentary should be presented to all history classes especially now that the present government is trying to erase/edit some facts from our history. Keep it up! Loved this, thank you NHCP for doing this documentary. It made me sad & proud @ the same time. Sad because of what happened to the three priests but proud that this horrible event paved the way for the awakening of national pride in being a Filipino. I wish this could be part of Phililpine history classes.

Thank you for this documentary, i only saw the surface of contribution of the 3 priest before, but now i do have a deeper understanding of what they symbolized. The hsitorians also have such great choice of words which made these three hereo's come alive again.

I hope this documentary is subtitled in English. My boyfriend is Mexican and he's studying Philippine history. I had to translate everything to him both in Spanish and English, and it's difficult lol But he appreciated the effort, and he understood our shared history. Thanks, NHCP!

You should tell him the three priest have Mexican ancestry as their grandparents were born in Nueva Hispania (Mexico) as all Filipino mestizos and criollos.

Amazing documentary ganda
I was crying while watching towards the end. Napakalaki po ng aking pasasalamat at inyo pong nilikha ang ganitong uri ng dokumentaryo. I wasn't brought here by any movie or anyone. I am already a teacher but I love paying attention to productions like this. Ngayon ko lang po mas naunawaan nang malalim ang kaganapan noong mga panahong nabubuhay ang GOMBURZA at kahit pa nung paglipas na ng kanilang mortal na buhay. Please create more like this about our history. Nabubura na po kasi ang kamalayan ng ating mga kabataan sa kasaysayan ng ating pagka-Pilipino.
