I didn't choose to fight Territorial Robart. I chose to fight Ponios for a side quest and it chose to interrupt me. Several... times.
@Condor7215 It's definitely an adrenaline rush, and it really nails both the positive and negative sides of that feeling.

To me, both those songs are more about despair and fighting something unpredictably huge and powerful without any prepararion cuz you just bumped on the big fella unpurposefully
The song is set up such that you'll die to those ambushes long before you hear the song get to the uplifting part he's referring to.

Worth mentioning Engage The Enemy technically isn’t a battle theme, it’s a cutscene theme that (almost) always is followed by a battle can play over that battle if you skip the cutscene.
I’m never going to stop saying that it should’ve been called “Don’t Forget Our Names” in Xenoblade 2

I'm surprised the beginning of all the songs weren't mentioned. Those aren't meant to make you feel heroic. Those are to make you recognize that you're going to die by something that spotted you from some random direction.
It's really forced in 2's theme though. It's basically a literal siren. I don't like it.
Unpopular opinion: I heavily prefer “You will Recall Our Names” over “You will Know Our Names”. I don’t know why, but something about the former gives me a greater “unstoppable force of nature” vibe compared to the latter.
Reasonable people can differ. YWRON has significantly more full instrumentation, so maybe that's it. I prefer YWKON - I'm not a fan of the overuse of syncopation in YWRON - but opinions are opinions.
I'm gonna give my own opinion here, too. I prefer Knkw over Recall, because Recall sounds just a bit less tense. I actually think Those Who Stand Against Our Path us even better, though, since the energy in that one just keeps getting higher.

I knew the same composers from 1 were doing 2 so I was hype to hear the unique monster theme....until I heard it for the first time...I was thinking, “this is it? What a let down, they had references to ‘you will know our names’ in the base battle theme, this is just sad”. But then the chapter 3 boss. Yeah, that was a moment for me. 😂
Perhaps with XB3 and the role of the offseers, the song will be about the party remembering the enemy. We/I Shall Remember Your Name.

I'm surprised you didn't mention _Engage the Enemy_ -> _You Will Know Our Names,_ which as we all know is the truest of combos.
Such a true combo, in fact, that they put _Counterattack_ and _You Will Recall Our Names_ next to each other in XC2's OST.

Honestly, I prefer Those Who Stand Against Our Path over You Will Recall Our Names. I’ve probably just heard the later one too often since it’s so overused in challenge mode.

You will know our names plays when you fight metal face outside of the ether mine. Although, it doesnt loop and leads into the regular boss theme.

unique monsters the atypical extremely powerful leader of their species that are really just trying to protect their kind and you come up and kill every last one of them. now that heroic if i ever heard that and you will know to recall our names, but actually you're dead so you really can't remember anything anymore.

"you will know our names" does make some degree of sense for unique monsters in XC1 even if you loose. you are challenging the champion of the race variant that lives in the area, strong enough for the game itself to name them. when you loose to the same one over and over, what tends to happen? "i will remember you, i will get stronger, i will return, then it is you who will remember me shortly before you fall".

I watched the gamplay of this game it was so damn good.
2:51 I always thought of these songs as transitioning from the unique monster’s theme to your theme in the guitar solo. When you bump into your first unique monster at level 6, you’re gonna die immediately, only hearing the intense and scary part of the song and not the uplifting badass part. Just genius.

First of all I wanna say ty for all the amazing videos u are doing. But I have one question: I have xc1 for 3ds and for the Wii. Till now I didn't played any of them. So my question is which version you would prefer. Thx mate :)

Jan W I agree with the other dude, but I’d recommend the 3ds version *if* you don’t have the time to sit down and play the game at your house or if you spend a lot of time out of the house like I do. Otherwise the Wii version is the superior version in every way.
Go for the wii. Or if you have decent pc/laptop, rip the iso and play it on Dolphin. Texture mods and some fancy post processing effects can make the game looks much better.
Though, I wish we could do some cross-saving between 3ds & the wii version. So while at home we can play it on the wii and while outside can continue it outside.
I prefer the 3ds version, because i like being able to play the game anywhere i want. (I personally don't care about the slightly worse graphics, it's not as bad as people make you beleave) also i prefer the 3ds controls more (probably why i play CX2 in handheld mode only)

Man I really wish they made it where Pneuma gained same Trust and all the Affinity chart effects of Pyra and Mythra or the effect of the last form, or fix the bug where her affinity chart stays at Rank D. That'd be so cool to have Pneuma be this super powerful temporary blade upgrade to Pyra and Mythra but instead she's just a sidegrade

"You will know our names" is one of my favourite battle themes of all time, it gets my blood pumping like heavy metal.
"You will recall our names" is great too but takes too long to get going for my liking.
The one in XCX though... ugh well I'm glad you like it at least, I kinda despise it.
I have to agree, I generally dislike lyrical pieces of videogame music with the exception being wir fliegen
@@davidreno6 Yeah I like Wir Fliegen as well, that and "the way" are the two exceptions but I dislike X's vocal tracks because of either the engrish or just the song itself (like "don't worry" I just find annoying). I think the reason I like wir fliegen is specifically because it's in a language I don't understand, if i spoke german I'd probably hate it.
I know a bit of German, and from what I know, it has a lot of cringe, but it "fits" the overdrive mechanic well.

Really love the idea of the video, however I think you could definitely work on delivering the idea better.
The theme that plays in X2 is Counterattack, not You Will Recall Our Names
Counterattack plays during cutscenes, You Will Recall Our Names plays during the boss battles mentioned. Luxin was just playing the song over the cutscenes that precede the actual battles where you would hear the theme. I mean obviously anyone who has played through XC2 knows that The Tomorrow with You plays during the first part of the Pneuma awakening cutscene. He is not mixing up songs.
