Thank you for reviewing the Synth Kit and clearly depicting how each Bits module works. When you have time, upload music you compose, we would love to hear it.
i would like to know/see if it is possible to add more then one kit together and if so,then how expandable is it. Can I buy 6 kits and make a HUGE synth?
Yes of course you can - the whole idea of the kit is that it's modular. You can also use some of the more interesting input bits from the range to control the synth as well.
Chris Smout you say that like its obvious but I haven't been able to find a single example of anyone using just 2 together, never mind racking them up into a monster synth. If you have please link me up, I'd love to see/hear that.
Clay Mann type' reggie watts little bits synth' into the search box and you'll see demos. visit littlebits.cc to get a better picture of the general modular idea ^^
The best thing I think about this is the small size. I still can't understand how many patch inputs each one has. The thing that's great about a modular is that it interacts its parts in many different ways. Some have four or five input/outputs. How many do these have? Can you use it with non-standard synthkit modules, like PAIA or Serge?
Really cool! It will be awesome with a MIDI connection board... maybe adding a simple (scaled up) keyboard control... even in the same cardboard box, in a flapping side.
Im wondering how you could plug this up to your guitar/bass and if i would work as a pedal if you added a large footswitch or if you had some parts of the synth kit attached to your instrument, would it still work like that?
This is an innovation, no doubt. There is an opportunity here to equip musicians with the capability of creating large synthesizers, in a small space. I wonder what the plans are for , lets say: Mixers, Mults, frequency dividers, ring mod, sync, filter types, adsrs, midi, etc... It is not as simple as "of course you can"...but I believe it can be done. No cables.
David Hobson Littlebits will be making other "bits" for this and they just announced the next set - a MIDI bit, CV, and USB I/O. So this turns the whole kit into a MIDI/CV converter that you can sequence via USB to your DAW! Pretty cool - littlebits.cc/bits/newsynthmodules
***** If are referring to pirated software, you should be ashamed of yourself! I have *never* frequented this "Piratebay" of which you speak, because I refuse to be made subject to the constant, annoying soft porn advertisements! A Tixati on them all!
I can't believe people are complaining about the price. It's so inexpensive for what it can do and for how easy it is for children to get going with it. My 6 year old and 10 year old were up and running with it in minutes and it's definitely not a toy. I use it too.
The only thing i like about this product is that it can teach people about analogue synthesizers. A good foundation for electronic sound production. The roots of simple synthesis. Other than that, it doesn't interest me.

Really looking forward to playing with my kit. Hope it arrives in time for Christmas.
THIS IS IMPORTANT DID YOUR KIT ARIVE ON CRISTMAS
Great looking kit! Modular synth components will be great for custom builds.
Great review!
Thanks a bunch!
Seems really fun :)
Yep

That looks like so much fun
Where can I get one?

Cool. It's like a LEGO® set for musicians. Neat!

Does anyone know the exact order he placed the bits in at the end of the video?

Where can you buy this from? I am in the UK. Thanks!
Great review. Is it polyphonic? if so. How many voices? Thanks
I love the bit where his voice changes for no reason...ace (1:37)
It's those little bits that make demo videos like this so very special.

Can one just use their own units they build from pre-existing plans? Are these units modular with other systems by CV?

Wondering the same things here. Anybody know???

or you could always just download the cracked version of reason from piratebay. make larger synths in even smaller spaces lol

how much is 1 kit?
Nice toy/learning device/tinkerers kit BUT at £130 that is a bus ride from where I would spend cash on it, I see it at about £50 at best.
we have littlle people too (lil bits)
Expensive... Only rich people can afford this for their kids.... However I will splurge for my daughters.

Want
Some people have money to burn
Shame that Michael J Fox did the camera work...
Looks cheap and looks like an unfinished product. I prefer the actual keyboard synths (ex: MicroKorg) and the Kaoss Pad.
