    I could see these being in grade school music classrooms. They’d be great for teaching kids and opening up the world of synthesis.

    I'm a big fan of Littlebits.. and this Pro Kit is just the perfect glue to promote their modules to real, studio-usable raw material. As far as the sloppy-slide aspect goes, Littlebits also have their $15 Mounting Boards.. expensive but perfect to lock circuits in place.

    Gaz -- fantastic! I'm not sure who had more fun though; Gaz making this or me watching it.

    Thanks for the nice review, Gaz. The new connectivity interfaces make the Korg littleBits interesting again for me, I've been thinking of buying a kit but didn't so far because of it's limited connectivity to my other gear, now this seems to be remedied and the littleBit kit is back on my wanted list. If only Korg would bring out these connectivity modules for the Monotron series, that would rock!

    I can already imagine using the Little Bit's Oscillators as a second or third oscillator to the Mini/MicroBrutes :D

    what kind of cool lighted cable is connecting the cv?!

    can you demonstrate the synth kit with the little bits logic modules?

  • @bloodyhell302

    A state variable filter module would be nice, or even individual BP & HP filters. A patch matrix module would be even better.

    Great review Gaz - thank you! These certainly make Little Bits more appealing and in fairness at the $30-$40 mark for digital audio/cv and midi... quite affordable IMHO. Much more interested in a kit after this - thanks!

    Excellent video. I have some questions:
    What is the version of the Ipad protection?
    What is the applications showed in the video?

    Gaz Williams bit of a random question on your video, but where can us mere mortals source those funky light-up 3.5mm cables?

    such a low cost littlebits kit can be used like a gsm controlled security device which could be used to send signal if someone opens a door or something, the applications are endless.its more like a easy to connect arduino device.

    • @johnsmodularjams2123

      +jeremiah wright it's a bit like an older version of midi but it is analogue so works with older synths. Pre-digital

    • @SoundsFromSound
      @SoundsFromSound 9 років тому

      +jeremiah wright CV is an abbreviation of control voltage, also known as gate...it's essentially an analog method of controlling synthesizers. The voltage usually controls pitch while the gate would control note on and off. Nowadays of course everything is pretty much based around the MIDI protocol.

  • @Buy-n-large
    @Buy-n-large 6 років тому

    So the midi module should work with a standard USB midi keyboard right? Like if the cable were plugged into the micro USB port with a USB otg cable?

    The kits are only $25 on amazon nowadays

  • @kassie2k4
    @kassie2k4 9 років тому

    aww Gaz typecasted!
    these certainly make the LittleBits lot seem more useful but that price just seems way too much still, you've got to really be on board with these little things to justify it I think, or it's got to be an impulse buy, I think $140~-$160, while separately sure can be (though not as attractive as $99), but if your someone who's intent on using these sounds and you don't already have the kit, thats $300 or so to drop, and you can get a microbrute for that, and probably nicer things if you go used
    but that's a bit out of the scope of these educational things, they sure are cool though, and you can combine some of them with other littlebit kit items too for other functionality and interesting little things, certainly if this stuff was more mass produced it could be cheaper, but I think it's a safe guess that if these were more mass market products, we wouldn't be seeing cool little Korg synth modules for them, just blinkan lights, it's innovative! I just wish they were cheaper, because I think they do look super fun, and if you had a bunch of money to blow (or these were a good bit cheaper) I'm sure some way deeper synthesis possibilities would be there, I guess in that case your patch layout could be a traced outline, in color coded marker, of all the bits!
