You never know what can still happen, but that kind of performance will remain in history. I started to watch cycling in the late '90 and Ive never seen something like this..and not just today. in 4 years as pro he won 2Tdf, 1Giro, 1 Flandre, 2 Liegi, 3 Lombardia... 13 stages in the tour, and so on.. chapeou Tadej
Agreed! I started following not long after you and too haven’t seen anyone like him. He is by far the most phenomenal bike rider I’ve witnessed.
If you have watched since the 90s then you cannot ignore the elephant in the room. He was pushing watts/kg 10% higher then Lance and Pantini. THe other riders just snicker and make jokes.

It was still the correct move for Jonas to get away from Remco. JV had nothing to lose and everything to gain at that point.

Why everyone is not happy when TP wins?? Why they always root for JV even when TP won the stage. Both are extremely good riders, but it seems the fans are leaning towards 1 side. I can imagine if TP secure his 3rd TdF, surely the talks of "awww JV just had bad crash, punctured his lungs, TP battled against sub-prime JV". Come on, wake up?! JV chose to ride this year's TdF, so be it..just enjoy and admit that post-traumatic crash with punctured lungs should have some limitations right? I am an avid JV fans but i think TP should receives the recognition he deserves. Visma lose Kuss earlier this year, that was a big blow though tbh. This is a team sport until the last few km's.

After three decades of watching this sport I’ve never seen anyone make it look so easy and he did the same in the giro. I just can’t believe these guys anymore. I’ll continue to watch as it will play out as in the last three decades and still be entertaining.
Not quite as easy as the Giro, he could have won that by way more in my opinion, but Vingegaard is keeping him honest, and forcing him to go all out to make the difference in the Tour.
Way better nutrition than 30 years ago. These dudes are taking in 120-130g carbs can hour. That’s the super human part. The way they’ve trained themselves to process that much energy.
Most of us could only manage 60g.

Jonathan Vaughters can’t handle the fact that Pogacar is going to win this ahead of Jonas.

When I watched JV weeping when he won that stage a few days ago, the pundits said it was a sign he was back. Instead, I saw a man who was grabbing a stage victory in defiance of his own weakness this year. I think that stage victory was a consolation prize. I think Pogacar may have won no matter what, but the loss of a percentage point or two after his crash means Jonas has no chance.
Lol JV today was the second best performance in cycling history. It's just that he was beaten by the best performance in history

Tadej needs to go for the triple. With 7 weeks to recover & peak, no one in the world could beat him in La Vuelta.
He probably has to let Ayuso or sbdy else to try and take that one, so their team doesn’t fall apart by the end of this season 😁

dude, Jonas crashed 2 months ago that probably slipped your mind. Tadej is barely able to drop Jonas and he had no preparation at all. Jonas is way stronger then Tadej. When he is back at 100% he will wipe the floor with Tadej. Tadej is nowhere close to the super alien from Denmark because Danish people know how to fuel properly, ask Mr. 60.
@@andrehufschmidTadej has learned how to fuel and keep the blood cool. He also improved in general. Its gonna be a tall order for Jonas to beat him in the future. Look how Jonas crushes rest of competition. He is in good shape after his horrible crash. Not too far from his best. His Plateau de Beille Watts (if you can trust them in any way) were his Best ever.
Tadej, Jonas and Remco are all writing history in Tour this year. Primoz on the other hand.. hope he’s alright.

THere is a big elephant in the room. He is 10% higher power then Lance and Pantini and all that came before him. And can hold it for months. No other endirance sports have seen these types of performance gains....not in the last 10-20 years. There is no magic here......how can this be?

TP and JV are both capable of immense W/kg for crazy amounts of time. They’re both freaks of nature.
Trying to find strategies for the weaker rider to beat the stronger rider is sooo funny. Perhaps if the whole peloton rode against Pogačar they could make him crack, but what would it prove? We all WANT to see the better rider win and that's what happened. Tactics is about exploiting opponent's weakness to gain advantage. If there is no weakness, there is no tactics. They can do nothing that's not in the legs of Vingegaard.

Jonas just did the best performance of his life and the 2nd greatest climbing performance of all-time. I don't wanna hear about the lack of preparation. He's in the shape of his life.

JV you are my champion 💙. Could anyone imagine after broken bones, punctured lung and riding a bike non stop for 5 hours at mountains is a remarkable recovery and no one can achieve this level. No matter whoever wins this year JV is a true warrior of this year ❤❤❤

According to Reuters, the overall leader of the Tour de France is tested every day, and every stage winner is required to undergo an anti-doping test. The race also includes pre-race blood tests, and riders can be tested at the finish line and in the hotels before and after stages.
Can we stop the bs? The fueling and tech is the biggest difference in times these days.

The record was bound to be broken one day. 30 years dude, thats ling enough. For the last 10 years to be honest the pro peleton was avoiding beatinf these times just bcause of the doping association, but believe they could have. Froome beat armstrongs time up the madone in 2014.
Pantani attacked already on Les Deux Alps I think it was. Rode alone and took a bigger effort.

Yes Tadej is the best rider at this year’s TDF, after a long season of preparation, but Jonas is the second best rider after a stint in ICU and two surgeries and six week training period.
Tadej only took a minute on Jonas today.
VSL did brilliantly, with a team significantly weaker than UAE due to loss of Kuss and their leader recovering from a massive injury a mere three months ago.

Well, that the tdf finished for me, it not the fact that pogi might win. It's the commentators slimy crawling over every little thing he does like no one else had done it before... Armstrong comes to mind, and we know how that ended! I can't live through a week of Carlton's hero worship and him trying desperately to remember there are other riders in the race. People are underestimating Tadejs and Jonas ride in my opinion. Look at the gaps behind them..
It is a little bit like on Jonas legendary timetrial. Tadej beat everyone by a big margin on that day. It was like you sprint 100m in 9,70s but lose to 9,50s. May look bad compared to that one freak performance but was actually supergood.
The story of if Visma did ride slower Jonas would not have lost time. How can they assume that? Tadej would have attacked and get rid of Jonas also.

All this discussion is to try to make the tour interesting, but the fact is pogacar has the best today... and all the mejor rivals have had sirius injuries... especially the guy in second. I am very upset with the commentators all but one mentioned that... and last year, with the wrist fracture of pogacar and being in a weaker team, that was mentioned in most of the steges. pogacar got even cocky... some days ago... I hope a divine power gets the field level.

Of course he takes full advantage of the science, the medicine, the rules, their enforcement, the exceptions, and anything else available to him. His team has a lot of money, spends it well, and gets the result they want.

What on earth does Danni know about the TDF? There is a plethora of ex TDF riders out there and Eurosport should be getting views and insights from ex riders. Another 'tick in the useless 'Woke' box - Danni should be embarrassed at taking this assignment for which she is totally unsuited.
For the advertisers it's not really that great that the tour is already decided with who's number 1, 2 and 3. No more suspense, cyclists already drinking wine, and the audience watching the tour will dwindle.
