    I'd just like to apologise for not showing Jewellery Store in this video when it's in the thumbnail - for context, they ported that map into Payday 3's 2020 build but did nothing with it. It's literally identical bar a couple of polygon civvies and a helicopter frozen in the sky lmao
    What do you think about this build getting leaked?

      Someone already ported jewlery store and first world bank to a payday 3 map, its a mod. Looked the exact same, so maybe it was leaked 5 months ago

      the armor systems is rather obvious, not that id accuse a content creator of having deductive reasoning. the old armor system gave playing a safety net that gave them as much time to NOT doing heisting in the heist. Since their were no consequence for running around for 30 minuets letting the adderall your snorted before hand wear off and that vastly bloated just how much time it could take to get a heist done. again neither player nor developer had any incentive to actually proactively complete a heist as they had a safety net that would last forever.

      @@TheSpaceCowboy06 100% i think deep silver are just as culpable, if you know what happened behind the scenes with saints row and largely volition studios then you can get a broad idea that DS is difficult to work with.

    The drill management mechanics sound fuckin awesome honestly. In the stream, Mio mentioned that the drill would overheat faster or slower depending on the material being drilled, and I think that sounds super cool.
    I'm really confused why their internal testers responded negatively to it. Sure, if you had to babysit EVERY drill like this, it would probably feel tedious, but Mio mentioned that if they bring this mechanic back, it would probably be for a special drill in a specific heist. Like, babysitting the special drill would be the gimmick of that heist, which I think sounds like a great idea.

      Like maybe for basic reinforced doors and locks a simple drill would be fine, but for cases for a Thermal drill is needed, the overheat mechanic could be really interesting!

      I could assume because of pub play. Considering how stupid pub players are and how much they mess up, we don’t need more things to make playing pubs a nightmare.

      If you think about PD3's design, it's not that far out of reason why internal testers didn't like it. PD3 had a dramatic shift away from "babysitting" objectives, and making sure that if you do have to do one, it's more interactive than just sitting and waiting. So this mechanic was probably seen as too weak, too little, or not engaging enough when the players could just let it run and go shoot enemies the whole time. It's also possible that the material vs. cool/heat system was too obtuse for the average player to understand. I don't think it's that far-fetched why internal testers didn't like it based on the product we got nowadays. However, I DO think it's a cool mechanic, and just having the option to do it would be really interesting.

      All of these drill mechanics are the one thing that I wanted
      Something that changed the drill from a timer that jams randomly to an actual normal drill that jams because you overheard it
      I don't know why they had to take it out
      I'd rather babysit an actual objective that I have to pay attention instead of just some timer

      @@TheMisterBerry Honestly if thats the reason testers didn't like it they maybe it could've been expanded to be more involved, like making somebody have to be pulled into an animation to speed up the drill, making them vulnerable and lose their peripheral vision. They would be preoccupied while doing this and somebody would have to defend them. This game has so many good ideas in it, they just need extra refinement to make replayability better

    The whole thing about Locke never being planned as the primary contractor for Payday 3 is just baffling to me. Why would they not use a fan favourite character, who's actor clearly likes playing the role?, and instead replace him with a completely new character (I think Shade is cool, but doesn't have near the amount of character and personality as Locke has). Just a huge missed opportunity in my opinion.

      ​@@thegreatandpowerfuldc5977 As a certified shade-hater, I can attest that my main reason for not liking her is because she is so boring compared to bane, locke, the butcher, or any of the main-stay contractors of the first two games, really. They all had a certain thing that made them tick and gave them uniqueness, where shade is just too normal to really sell being a criminal mastermind imo

      Im just gonna be honest.. Locke had more character when he WASN'T the main handler. He just felt dry, honestly. Compared to his performance in the Point Break heists.

    I don't know what to say other than it looks like instead of building up they broke down.
    Locke would/should have been the main handler, it would have felt natural for the lore as well. Bummer.
    I miss drills, c4, saws, atms, and gage packs.

    One of the things I despise the most about modern gaming is that almost every looter/rpg/co-op keeps adding annoying modifiers and calling it difficulty settings
    IMO that's the absolute laziest way to make a game more difficult instead of actually tweaking or changing anything.

    That lighting in the bank looks actually really good. I know the solid white is just a dev texture, but it's a hell of an aesthetic.

      That’s because it’s fully dynamic light, which is not a feasible option when you’re making a game that has waves of enemies, online, cross platforms and more finished assets. Light and reflections are extremely expensive and will be cut down on severely the further down the production you go

    1. Offline mode and server browser
    2. better level progression
    3. More heist.
    4. More builds (dodge, stealth, rush)
    5. More weapons
    6. More cosmetics
    7. More higher difficulty levels

      The QOL stuff is the biggest offender in my opinion. How do you look at payday 2, then payday 3 and thing the same company made both games.

    I miss the drills, It was a consistent idea in payday 2, they could have really deep dived into the drill system and have its own set of skill trees.
    Imagine one guy in your team is decked out on being a drill engineer and can cut a drill time by two-thirds through some manual drill handling and perks while your other teammates protect you

    i love how they ask during the stream if we liked something but like you guys had a suggestion page that went unused for a long time.

    Only thing I want to mention is the dedicated server. I think they said at some point that they chose servers so the game isn't desynced. I mean, how much trouble people had with PD2's AI? You stand behind guard yet the game thinks you are in their View. Another thing being civilians following you not working properly. I don't know if this is bad coding problem or server issue but I saw a video once that said something like: "Desync happens because data aren't grouned up properly" meaning that what you see and what is programmed to happen isn't 1:1. With servers, all data are grounded to one specific thing. Also, having live service might have a little bit of truth when it comes to crossplay and crossprogression because the data is easily stored and there don't have to be complications between platforms like Steam being Steam only, can't transfer data to Epic Games and you can't put Steam data to Microsoft Xbox. PD3 has it's data through Nebula and every platform requires Nebula, so it make sense. When it comes to Offline mode, I belive those things work separately. When you play online, you basically connect to that server as base ground and use in-game files to build on it. With offline mode, in-game files must work like both ground AND something to build on it. Since PD3 is programmed to be MAINLY COOP game, for offline mode they have to build different system. It's either that or build the whole game from scratch. It would be easier for PD2 since it's peer to peer and also work differently. But that's just my two cents

      Put simply, if what he said about moving the computation off the client machine is true, an offline mode would not run as well as online play, for machines that can't handle the pd3 jandal.

    It's a fascinating leak, and also interesting how some of the debug testmaps that were shown here had "upgraded" versions of them in PD3 (and at some point were accessible with a mod), like that interactibles, shooting range targets, agility testmaps.
    Also I do agree that Almir was weirdly jumpy about it, asking about getting some of the features back.
    As for PD3 balancing, it's a coin of two sides - on one, I wouldn't discount modifiers as not being enough until I see what they actually have in there, but on another, just making the enemies harder will mean that other "non-meta" builds that are quite viable now will suffer, and maybe even a lot - like, ziv commando just now can actually be used pretty painlessly, same with northwest, and those are basically 2 worst guns in the game stats-wise, so if they now up the enemy damage/health, or make them higher DPS (by increased reaction times/rate of fire/numbers/whatever), those weapons again can fall to the category of "barely usable", which imo isn't that great either.
    Basically imo they might would need to nerf some stuff,for example, why they buffed precision shot by removing requirement for it to consume edge is wild to me, it wasn't a weak skill even before, but now it's just straight up broken. Cutting shot I understand why they felt the need to buff it, since previously it was basically used for "breakpoints", so it was mostly down to calculating if that 10% better armor pen does anything for your build. But now, unless you are using weak pistols and shotguns, there's just no reason to not use it essentially. Maybe some additional restriction would be appropriate (i.e. have both edge and grit, or edge and rush, or reducing rate of fire/reload speed/accuracy, or something), or just not going for as high of a value increase.

    The fact they built Locke up to be the handler post-bain, only to do a switcharoo to another character whom was never introduced prior to the moment that required them to exist, playing it off very much like a "She goes to another school" type of 'brag' is just... asinine? If they knew they wanted Shade, she should've been introduced, AT THE VERY LEAST, during one of the pre-whitehouse storylines, for an *entire* storyline, at bare minimum.

    I’d like for the hostage trading window to have more depth it’d be great if you could actually negotiate with police and give more hostages for things like prolonged windows between assaults or equipment for optional objectives within heist say maybe there’s a secret secondary vault that has bonus loot but you need to trade say 5 hostages to get the equipment to open it I feel that may also balance out the trading for resources and make hostages a more valuable resource you need to manage

    cod zombies (1-3) and payday 2 are and or can be played offline in doing so there is no noticeable performance hit at all even on lower end systems, while what the game director said was kinda true payday 3 has far less hostiles on screen at once than payday 2, if they were worried about performance it would not have been an ai problem it would have been poor quality optimizations on the rest of the project

      Yes. Their older game engine, in Payday2, was a pile of trash that needed to be taken out back and put down.
      But they made it work. It was always an unoptimized piece of garbage. And every update too them 3-4 months to fix the problems with crashing, bugs, and poor performance.
      The AI isn't the reason why the game needs servers.

    I feel like that if they were really unsure about bringing Locke back, they should have altered Shade's origins very slightly and have Locke leave a message for the gang about how he needs to go into hiding (or something) and is therefore unable to directly lead the heists, but is entrusting Shade to lead them since he and Bane both knew her back in the day or something.
    Really just something that actually acknowledges his existence in the main story (and overall Payday universe) rather than just half assedly tossing him into the legacy heists as someone 'contractor'

    I feel like the approach to "just fix it now and if it's an issue down the line, we can always revise it or off-set it" is due in part because they KNOW they're down to the wire. I wholeheartedly see it happening that if they don't fix this game this year, Starbreeze could very well just pull the plug on Payday 3. So they're very likely feeling the intense pressure, and working as fast as possible to fix what they can, and if they make it into the clearing, they can always go back and revise it. I understand the philosophy of "just do it right the first time", but when you have that timer ticking down in the background, it's probably not that easy to devise what to do when A: the playerbase overall doesn't like a lot of the mechanics you put in, so you're hesitant on what to do. and B: the timer is still ticking down. Fix it and move on, or waste more time that's already been lost.

    Also, I think they made a way for things to be easier because no one can find/connect with friends until they implement a proper server browser anyway.
    Unfortunately, the only game we can play right now is the waiting one.

    While the issues at launch and i guess are still present in the game, the build is super interesting, and to not confuse people the usage of old stuff to start building a new game is standard (look at gta5 tests, it was run originally on the gta4 engine). I think they should've not done most of what they did in terms of changes from pd2 and pd3. I feel bad for the actual devs, especially knowing they did a super jump from the diesel engine to unreal among other things. just kinda sad at this point

    The problem of Payday3 is not the difficulty or the "op" skills themselves in my opinion, it's the replayability.
    Once you get familiar with all heists, you could finish them blindfolded and faster, because there is 0 vatiety in any heist (except in Roadrage, where the truck either goes left or right, amazing).
    Making objectives and heist assets rng based would be more interesting, because you actually would have to search for something.
    Adding special ways to enter/open/interact with stuff is another factor.
    Being able to use saws, ecms, c4 or other methods (without the heist demanding you to do so) is what makes PD2 superior to PD3.
    (Probably) the reason why there is no preplanning is because always is everything the same, therefore you don't need a plan (and prob. because they simply FoRgOt to add it into the game).
    I could write a whole essay with things that are better in PD2, but I just wanted to evaluate on your opinion about modifiers not being enough / the game being too easy.
    I could even make an entire 2 video with you, talking about everything they could improve😂😂

    Yeah, it's very unlikely the online only is due to AI, what with how people actually are able to mod the game to play offline. All these excuses are bull.
    Still a very fascinating look into the game's history and it's great to hear how and why other things may have come about.

    Big question, who leaked the build? I didn't hear anything about a hacker, so it means that it was inside thing. If this was a disgruntled employee, that means inside of the studio there is also turmoil on how the game is going.

    Cutting content, swapping contractor and reworking hud and etc to a new style sounds like the typical inside problem between devs, publishers, CEOs and funding.

    I haven’t played in a while…. But personally I would be fine with the game being easier if everything else in the game felt good.
    Also something being easy for some players doesn’t mean it’s easy for everyone. Like I believe people playing Payday 3’s hardest difficulty said it was easy before but I found the game to be difficult and only played up to hard or very hard (I don’t remember all the difficulties at this point).
    I would say what they could do is keep the difficulty the same but add a modifier menu to make the game harder and increase rewards for how many modifiers you have on. I don’t really like the idea of throwing random modifiers on in the base game especially like the lead guard or whatever (guard that has a radio that constantly goes off if he dies) where if you kill him you basically end your stealth run when playing solo. I don’t like rng for if you get xyz you then just wasted all your time on a mission because the modifier is impossible for you to do.
    It would be cool if they can change up the game to make it both fun and rewarding. Last time I played I was spending hours doing the same mission over and over again due to crappy rewards and getting nothing for it on every other mission.
    I wish they just took Payday 2 and just upgraded it to be Payday 3. They changed the gameplay too much in my opinion.
    Also on Crime Boss: Rockay City I do like that game but quit playing it due to it being a buggy piece of crap. Like the cutscenes having no audio or just being a black screen. Plus they have story missions related to certain character but they make the missions annoying and if you die you have to wait until your next run and get that character again in order to play those missions again. Also they make decent sized maps but all the loot is in one building out of maybe 3 or 4 you can sometimes enter.

    You know what I want from the prototype to the base game? The armor mechanic, of course!
    It's not rocket science: lighter armor, less armor and more speed/downs. Make it regenerate the full chunk. If ya lose it, you probably did something wrong or the game screwed ya, go to an armor bag and fix it.
    But no, they just gave a half-assed solution to it and called it a day. I'm glad they're addressing the leaked stuff but man does it frustrate me to no end.

    Now I'm no tech guru but if the game wasn't server side would we have better performance? Using Helldivers 2 as an example where I believe that game is all server side and it runs horribly even on high end PCs. My PC is I would say above average but man I'm lucky if I can even hit 60 fps on medium settings in HD2.

    i think that they made overkill easy so that the players would ONLY play overkill. they want this because the player base is REALLY small and basically the game is split in multiple way and its really hard to play online with randoms. like...first you have to select a mission which some of them will be more popular than others and then you have the difficulty which basically it splits again in 2: overkill and very hard. the good players and high level play overkill, meanwhile the mediocre players with good enough builds are playing very hard

    Make the game fun and crazy and play well first!
    Add new difficulties or make it harder later.
    We need starbreez to fix the game and make it fun.
    And when the player bace is back and playing again.
    Then worrie about fixing the difficulty.
    The players who want higher difficulty are the people who have been playing payday for years and have already mastered payday 3.
    But most new players can't solo stealth missions on the highest difficulty.

    idk why they dont make some things client side and some server side, like u dont get rubberbanded back if running is client sided. make weapons, ammo, deployables etc server sided
    its probably not that hard and it would make the game slightly more playable if they make the game p2p (which wont happen) (if it did happen) i wouldnt want the desynced dead-alive bodies from payday 2
    here i just wrote whatever
    ive seen people complain about the game being slow paced, i personally dont want the fast paced gameplay of payday 2, its like scrolling on shorts/tiktok for hours
    make the game harder, remove the respawning on very hard/overkill
    maybe add death wish?
    redesign the ui

    Hearing modifiers for harder difficulties is baffling. Halo Infinite showed the industry that gamers hated challenge based exp, but Borderlands 3 showed that people hate rng modifier end game. PD3 has been giving serious Anthem vibes since its been released.

    That comment about armor shows a much bigger fact than the pitiful release the dlcs and much else. It shows that the devs themselves do not understand how their game (payday2) plays or even why its fun. It shows that even if the release had gone smoothly payday 3 would still be dead as it is now.

    They're getting so desperate, that its actually embarrassing to admit you like the Payday series at this point. I loved PD2 and really liked PDTH and the mobile one was meh but what I expected from a mobile game, but if anyone asks, I do not like the series as a whole, gotta keep that under wraps now.

      It really doesn’t, the only reason it seems that way is because it’s something different from what we got.
      I guarantee you that the repetitivity/lack of randomization is still a problem on this build, so we’d still have issues with replayability. The tasks are not much different from what we have, it’s just drill a safe and wait, find a keycard, disable a thing, etc. And obviously 3 is better visually than this is.
      Yes, it having a server browser and solo mode and stuff like that is definitely a plus. But the gameplay of these two heists is still undercooked.

    With all the talk about the game being too easy now, after the most recent update, it seems to me a quick fix wouldn't be that difficult for the Overkill difficulty.
    Without tearing into the AI or other finer details, just the basic enemies and specials stats could be quickly buffed on Overkill to make the cops much harder to kill. Simply buff their HP, armor and damage output upwards 15-30% that would make a significant difference to the difficulty immediately, without changing anything else. Buff the specials too. If thay wanted to dig into the AI, spawn rates or other finer details down the road they could, but for now just buffing the base stats of the cops/specials could make a big difference with little effort. Just some basic balance testing. I'm no game designer, but for a quick fix that seems like a no brainer to me. Then leave the other difficulties alone for now, for those that want and easier experience.

    My theory is that the devs got tired of the pd2 gameplay loop so they tried to make changes for pd3 i.e. "more intense" or "realistic" when in reality pd2's gameplay loop works and they just shot themselves in the foot.
    Bring back actual Regen armor and bring back skill trees ffs
    Still don't have voice comms either
