    The 997.2 is just so beautifully proportioned. And the last 911 designed by Porsche before VW ownership started influencing the design. Love the shorter wheelbase look too. Future classic!!!

    The 997.2 is a gem. It's got the awesome reliable DFI engine and the styling is classic. This will be a very sought after car and those who have one should hang on to it.

      @Commendatore 2009 - 2012. The 997.1 ended in 2008. Some of the early 997.2s were sold in late 2008. The 991.1 was introduced in late 2012.

    Nice to see a Gen 2 on your channel! Noah is right about the exhaust, all S models came with quad pipes, the way to tell a PSE from the outside is the quad pipes but they have a subtle chrome trim on the top of them, almost looks like an extra heat shroud. There's another exterior difference that a lot of people miss, the mirrors on a Gen 2 are bigger, easy to spot once you've seen it ;)

    Hi Noah, i have a 997.2 C4 ( Also cobalt blue ). I just did the isofix with airbag deactivation retrofit. Recomend to do that and use the front seat. Puting your kid in the rear seat’s with backward facing child seats will almost be impossible, at least very hard and impracticle to do.

    I just got my first 911- manual transmission 997.1 C2S. It took a long time to find it. With only 14,000 miles but $71,000. 997s are no longer a bargain but worth it.

    Great video. I have a 2011 C4S manual with 35k miles on it and love it. Would love to drive up to Wisconsin for one of your meet ups. And yes, the quad exhaust tips are standard. You could also order these with an 20mm lower suspension and option 305 section tires. I believe the 997.2 made the change to the all-wheel drive system from the 997.1 Turbo's. That means you can pull the parking break up 1 click and it will shut off the front axle.

    James, the car my brother has is a 2012 997.2 C4. Not an S. It is loaded very nicely. It has around 7K miles. He keeps it serviced, but he doesn’t like it because it rides “stiff.” To be fair he’s not a car guy. He’s a boat guy. The 911 stays garaged on Marco Island. His other car is a Prius. I know. My sister has the Panamera. She drives it nonstop. I’m hoping to buy his car, but I’m also thinking Carrera T. Good video. I missed this one somehow.

    Prefer the 997.1, engine issues aside (get a rebuild from hartech), the 997.1 sounds way better, looks better in my opinion and that lightbar on the back of 997.2 is bloody hideous!
    Both superb cars though.

    Great Video! When I was looking at buying my first 911 earlier this year I was leaning towards a 991.1 but also really liked the 997.2. The 991 with the options I wanted were a little out of my price range so I got a beautiful 997.2 CS and couldn't be happier. I think both models are beautiful and it seems like 991.1 vs 997.2's prices are becoming fairly similar as opposed to when I was looking.
    I really enjoy your videos, keep up the great work. I did try to search for the podcast on my iPhone but it didn't come up just FYI.

    James, I’ve really enjoyed your podcast and videos as I’m preparing to buy my first Porsche! A 997. I was wondering if there is any general advice you’d give me after having been through a few yourself and helping friends- I plan to go 2006 or later to avoid mech issues… but I’m hung up on a few things, primarily: cabrio or coupe, c2 or c4, black or tan interior, and if I need to go for an S vs. just a base Carrera. Really appreciate any wisdom for a first timer!

    • @AutoAmateur
      @AutoAmateur  Рік тому

      Hey Samuel!! Awesome stuff. Good luck with your search! For me…. Coupe always. I never want another cabriolet 911. C2 cars are more fun than the C4. Get the S if you can but you won’t be disappointed with a base.

    From my understanding as I spend hours on Rennlist every week, the 4 pipes are standard on the S models and the single exhaust on each side is base Carrera exhausts. And from what I've seen the Porsche Sports Exhaust have 4 pipes, but one one each side is smaller in diameter than the other (I believe the inner pipe). Curious if his 18 inch wheels are his winter wheels or everyday wheels. If not, which wheels does he have during warmer months. Also is the Cobalt Blue? Love the color. I hope I can find myself one in the next 12 months.

    • @noahhuth9750
      @noahhuth9750 4 роки тому +2

      K1dPhresh1 thanks for the comments! The 18’s are my winter wheels. I have Carrera II’s in 19 for my summer wheels. The color is Aqua Blue Metallic, I think the Cobalt Blue is a shade lighter. Either way both colors are fantastic!

    A very nice car, I really hope Noah can work things out to hang onto it. Every man needs a toy, and judging how he keeps the car, it would be really cool, if his son could drive it when he is old enough to do so, and gas is still available. Enjoyed the video, thanks.

      Cars like these are not toys just for boys. I recently got a 2010 997.2 Turbo Cabriolet with 22k miles, dark blue with the natural brown leather interior. Top is also blue. It’s beautiful!! I sold my 2014 naturally aspirated 8 cylinder RS5 but always wanted a Porsche. And before that I had a 2001 BMW M Roadster with the quite-sought after S54 engine. My husband thinks I’m crazy....so it’s not just for boys!!

      @beemer1111 3 роки тому

      @@joabellanosasolliday4926 Hi Jo, yes, you are absolutely right. Women can enjoy these cars and experience all the thrills they provide. Your 2010 must be a PDK, vs the Tip. I have an 09 Turbo Cab w/ Tip, and I enjoy it. My 2012 Coupe is a PDK, and it is amazing. Enjoy your car, that is an awesome colour combination. Study a few of the U-Tube service videos as I did, routine maintenance is easy on these cars, and oil and filters services are not hard at all. Have fun!

  • @KosmicHRTRacingTeam
    @KosmicHRTRacingTeam 4 роки тому +1

    Just by way of some clarifications. That is NOT a “light bar”. Yes, 4 exhaust tips for all S cars, 2 for base cars. Center exhaust for all GT3 variants. The interior between .1 and .2 is basically the same other than a slightly lighter color trim in the .1. The sports steering wheel did change after the first year of the .2. Sports exhaust doesn’t add ANY HP. And you aren’t going to get close to what you think you will as far as the gains you (or the aftermarket manufacture) claim. This is one of reasons why the power kits are always so expensive, it’s a lot of work to squeeze a little more out of Pcars.

    • @scottthompson5855

      GTS gets to 408HP. Part of that was the standard sports exhaust as well as the intake, right?

    • @KosmicHRTRacingTeam
      @KosmicHRTRacingTeam 4 роки тому

      Sports exhaust does NOT get anyone any more HP. Reference? Porsche. I have it, sounds good but no HP gains. The HP bump on the GTS is much more involved than just the intake. Its the X51 power kit. Go to suncoast and look up the kit. It’s pretty extensive. Champion also had a kit as well but it was their own and not OEM.

    997.1 deck lid will not work on a 997.2. The .2 has two air inlets for the air box and the .1 only has one. So a .1 deck lid will not feed the air box properly.

      Jacky Chou I think Porsche was very conservative in their stated 0-60 on the car (they frequently are). Car and Driver did 4.0 with a PDK C4S and I think something like 4.2 or 4.3 in a manual.
