Massive shoutout to our friends at Ryan Friedman Motorcars for lending us most of the cars used in the video. Go check them out. I also want to thank the guys at Audrain Auto Museum and Porsche South Shore. Without these guys this video wouldn't have happened :)
Where is Will? Bet he would have loved it!
If he appears later, I'm still at the start.

You say G body was the first production 911, that is objectively incorrect. The G series was debuted as a 1974 model and considered a complete re-design of the 1963-1973 Porsche 911. Also, while most people consider the G series to be 1974 - 1989, that is also not the case. Factually the 1973-1974 built cars were the G series cars, Technically speaking the 1975 911 was the H series, the 1976 was the J series....etc.
This so-called captain shows himself an excitable teenager who knows nothing (yet) :-)
These videos are very underrated
I love the Porsche videos
Can’t get enough of your 996
Thank you so much

997 for life!
It was so good
Man I REALLY want a 993, and the 996 is totally underrated!
Totally agree. That 993 was amazing
@@captaincrankshaft BTW, love the content man. I can't wait to see what's next with the BMW
Thank you dude
I love my 996 4S ❤
Or for the same money get four 996s, faster, better interior (still not great) and theyre less hated every year
964 and 993 were the peak of Porsche 911. Hand built cars that still had the spirit of the original. Anything after that was completely different car. Best looking is the 993 (narrowly). The fat rear is just perfect. 964 front looks amazing too. Too bad they're so expensive now.
Omg when I hear the sounds these beautiful cars make. This is art.
They are so good
I bought a 1991 964 Carrera 4 back in 1994 and more recently purchased a 1996 Carrera in 2020. Both amazing cars but the 993 is a step change with that multi-link rear suspension upgrade. I've also had a couple of 944s (Lux and an S2), 3 Boxsters and a couple of 928s (S4 and a GTS) . Loved them all but my overall favourite is the Iris blue 993! Even my wife thinks it's 'OK'. Happy wife, happy life. Keep up the good work guys, cheers from a rather cold Otford, Kent, UK.
“ok” is the highest form of praise my wife will give any of my cars 😅
Owning a 911 is my childhood dream. But having the chance to drive every generation of the 911? That's definitely the best dream ever!
The only thing close enough I can do to experience the 911 is by driving it in Gran Turismo and other games that has 911s in it 😂
Just wanna share my dream 911 gotta be the 930 Turbo in black, with 3-piece BBS LM wheels 🤤
Great taste that would look so good on a 930!
What a joy to watch - thanks for making and sharing this.
Babe wake up Captain made a new video!
haha finally
Great video as always man!
I love that you also do this kind of content, really is a good contra to the classic building content!!
KEEP IT UP!!
- Emil from Denmark
Thank you Emil!
For me, the 996 headlights and taillights hold it back so much comparing it to other models
New video!!! I am a Porsche lover, I am going to enjoy this video for sure.
Right on! Thank you for the support
Your comment about modern cars when driving the G body just sums up how I feel about modern cars
There are just too many electric systems
Sometimes something older and simple is better
Great review, you are not wrong, then the "turbo" or GT model takes it to a whole new level.
@captaincrankshaft your collection of cars are absolutely insane! keep up the good work!
Also, could you possible try release your videos a bit sooner? I really love to watch your videos!
Thank you for the support. Yes trying to get back to weekly posting it’s a challenge waiting for parts so doing videos like this should help fill in the gaps of building content :)
ive had a g body and 991.2 gts, such a special model
loved the video lads... felt as if I was with you...
a hot take... my favourite are 991 and 992
930 Turbo is the absolute best no doubt. Edit: 1980s version.
this channel is for porsche lovers
love it so far♥
Thank you!
letssss goooo new vid
I love how bro is taking inspiration from donut media.
They are really good at making great videos! Somehow they hadn’t done the 911 yet haha
Tbh , I like old school cars well cause they are 'old school' and classic . But still I love the modern Porsche 911 , Especially Turbo S dearly .
Agreed
I got to ride in a 991.1 turbo s a few months ago, and its probably the best car i've ever been in. It flew up to 150 and felt like a dream. My friend in the backseat probably felt a bit differently
love the video, but you forgot the 2.7 rs and the 930. Nonetheless great video
Both of those are G-Body cars.
@@orangecayman520no 2.7 rs is f body
i remember the 996 series wasnt to long ago but that was a cool series
Thank you. My favorite series so far personally
Nice !!
underrated bro
love from India
Thank you so much
U guys can't even afford a 911 😂
I’m a bit biased but I’ve had my 2009 997.2 for 10 years and it’s the best.
2009 is last year of 997.1
The 997 received a mid-cycle refresh in 2008 for the 2009 model year. The updated model range was unveiled at the Paris Auto Show in September 2008. The updated Porsche 911 (called 997 Gen II internally at Porsche[15] and 997.2 informally by enthusiasts)
I have a 2008 997.2
Now you need to do all of the boxster versions!
The exact video I’ve been waiting for. I’m trying to decide which 911 to go for next. My only issue with the 993 is that I’d probably want better ac. Tough decision.
@5:00 most would have edited that out. Well done lads.
What a amazing experience to drive each generation sequentially. That must have been an absolute blast. I agree the 996 does not deserve all the flack it gets. Every generation just gets better. I have a 993 and and 992 and they are so different, but yet so much the same.
After bit of a long time nice to see your content mate...
Thank you!
Great to see you Guys having so much fun and relieved that 993 wins the best of all - I am in a 987 😂
I LOVE IT
Thank you!
Ah yes the 911, gotta be one of the most liked cars worldwide and the iconic flat 6 never gets old. German engineering for life 🇩🇪🇩🇪🇩🇪
One of the best cars ever
Keep it up still waiting for the bmw videos
Don't worry they are in the works
hey brother love the content keep it up!!
Appreciate it! Thank you!
Good video. Sorry to hear about your Dad. Nice seeing younger lads appreciating the older 911s
So underrated
Thank you so much
Nice
love your videos captain Keep it up and what about the BMW?
Thank you! More on that car coming soon
997.2 is the best
991.2.
Like this
Gotchu
Wish I knew which versions some of these were (XXX.1 vs XXX.2 and base vs S). Were they all base models and all XXX.1 versions?
I ended up with a 991.1 C2 with a manual transmission and I absolutely love it. Just did between 1500-2000 miles over the course of the eclipse weekend; tight twisty mountain roads and high speed stretches of highway. Such a great car!
So interesting that both of you chose the 993! My father in law had a 993 turbo that he purchased from Brumos Porsche that blew my mind! I have a 997.1 Carrera and love it ! However I wanted to was that 991 Carrera or carrera that you drove? If it was the base does it still feel pretty quick ? I may upgrade next year to a 991.1 Carrera. Ryan Friedman has a lot of nice cars! Maybe I’ll check them out!,
The 991 is a great car but I honestly liked the 997 better. If anything upgrade to a 997.2 Carrera S. That’s just my thoughts they are all fantastic cars. That 993 is a real treat. So much fun to drive
You lucky boy
996’s are growing in people. I remember seeing 996’s in the $10-$15k range and now prices are up which sucks because now I really want one lol
997 is my favorite generation but I’m hoping to get into a 996 and then a 997(:
for me the 964 is the holy grail
I have a 993 i love that car❤
I doubt that but 👍
you should do the turbos then the cayman and boxter
Dear lord these guys get into the car like my 11 year old daughter. So rough with everything lol
BTW you should have driven a 991.2
Winced on porch a cup.
I love the old ones but idk what the difference is for the old cars
You missed out the pre73 cars which included the 2.7RS. For many the greatest Porsches of all time.
OMG HOW DID YOU DO THAT?!?!
Lots of nice people who let me use their cars haha
lol@@captaincrankshaft
i know im expecting too much but what about the 918 p:
regardless , great video
Haha I wish. Might be hard to convince someone
The car phone at the end tho.
Is there going to be another video on the beautiful 996 soon?
I have some work to do on that thing so most likely yes
i like the porsche 911 2001 september
porche is the best car
There was some inaccuracies. For example "a completely new engine" in most cases is a very interpretable claim. And before G there was the production A-, B-, C-, D-, E- and F-series. The production did not start by any means from G-series. The one McQueen drives in the intro of the 1970/71 Le Mans -movie is a 1969 2.2 liter C-series car.
I pretty much consider all aircooled the same engine with just step developments. And they inturn are Mezger derivations of the Fuhrmann engine. M96 and M97 Carrera engines are basically the same engine but the direct injection 3.8 is the start of the present engine era. The split between the old and new is definitely 996 because 997 is really just a facelift what ever they say about the number of same parts. And the quality difference between 996 and 997 only really goes for the interior. Otherwise it is exactly the same standard. The modern suspension geo principles were set down by 993/996. Since then there has been PASM and 4WST and now the wishbone fr suspension (only in GT3). Although 993 already has the first LSA rear suspension the 996 is first with modern more truly forgiving handling. It is the fiirst that you can really trail brake given you have at least some grip. Summer tyres on snow and you will be remembered how the air cooled behaved.
What is very typical to 911-lineage is that it is developed empirically and the base VW Beetle -concept has been pretty much against common principles. Partly because of this you can find a lot Isak's church solutions in the models. Something built on something based on learnings rather than completely new solutions. And another clear feature is that these cars are surprisingly easy to maintain. Most modern cars are built with just production in mind. Almost like the factories would state: "Do not service your self!" The 911 and Porsches in general you can see that the designers have been at the racing tracks in the pits under the car servicing it by their own hands. It may be tight sometimes but eventually it is very easy to get parts out and in quickly. HOwever, with 991/992 Porsche has actually changed this philosophy slightly. You dont really ahve access to the engine anymore. But then to take the engine out has always been relatively easy with 911s - if you have a lift you can get the engine out and in in about an hour.
maybe shouldve kept it consistent with the amount of people in the car
Very fair haha
Day one of asking Captain Crankshaft to do cars news roundups again
993 & 992 for me🫶
Donut Media been real quiet since this dropped.
911 gt3 rs - I have the poster coming in the post
I saw the Porsche 964 Turbo 3.6 in 1995 Will Smith blockbuster film Bad Boys
Would have been nice to see a 991.2 which is a vastly different car than the 991.1 you drove

A German car lover's dream come true
haha agreed
@@captaincrankshaft I'm probably gonna subscribe. These longer videos are pretty entertaining. Can't wait for more m5 content
Porsche 911,s are the best
Hello, i wanted to ask that would you do a qna on your channel??
I can probably do that :)
here since 20
Appreciate you
That’s new merch sweatshirt…
Good eye. Coming soon
The best, is the newest. You’re always gonna gain something and lose something with each generation , and there is so much subjectivity to it all… but objectively it’s a no brainer
The PDK feels so much faster too… because it is. Porsche had to make long gears in the manual to pass emission standards…. Although I love manuals, I feel like going manual you’re missing out on the engineering that makes these cars so awesome. Low power cars sure manual, but to extract the performance out of these new ones, the PDK is amazing! Of course, speed isn’t everything…. But you can really see even in your videos how much faster it all FEELS with the PDK.
“The mustang mach-E should have never had a mustang badge”. Realest thing ever bro😢
Haha Its just sad they did that to the mustang name

Some sources have claimed that Porsche is willing to keep the 911 alive with an ICE for as long as possible. And if the day comes where ICEs are abandoned, then Porsche will end the 911 with it as well.
I’ve heard that too. Hoping it’s true but it would be sad to see it go
the best one is the tower
First production 911 was f body not g body
That first 911 wasn't the first 911 , the 60s and 70s one was the first.
They don't put to much stuff in the car to please customers. It to fleece them 4:07
I've actually been waiting up to 2 weeks for a new car rebuilding video on maybe the Aston Martin and BMW but seeing something else really made me feel a bit sad
Haha me too. We've been having to wait for a lot of parts and its a slow process but I appreciate you being patient
But actually when do you think you may post next
soooo we all need 993s now is what youre saying
Yea pretty much
Next video: Driving every Bugatti known to man kind 💀🙏
Haha I wish maybe at some point
@@captaincrankshaft It’s definitely gonna happen soon
Keep up the work bro!
Everyone, young and old, love the 993 and anyone who has owned one is sad on many level$
Ferris Bueller reviews the 911……
Not bad for someone too young to know how to spell Shelby Cobra……GTX Hemi or 389 GTO !
Really said you didn’t include the 930 I think it’s the best 911 generation but you reviewing could give another opinion but you not reviewing really had me bummed out
The 930 isn’t a 911, it’s a 930!
FIRST BTW
What is the difference between a Porsche and a porcupine?
A porcupine has the pricks on the outside! Lol jk. I just had to say that! Not in reference to the content. Great work guys!
Why say in the title you drive every generation 911, when you skipped the F-body who started the whole thing and was produced from 1963-1973? You just jumped the whole first decade and went for the second generation 911 with the impact bumper G-body style. Nice video, but a gross fault to make when titling the video “Every generation..”. Kinda fell short of the mark from the get go there.
Is it 7/11 or 9/11?
Fun fact: at the time I'm watching this video it has 911 views 😅
That’s sick haha
