The defense at this point is simply guaranteeing her a fair trial. They raised as much doubt as possible by closing but it was ineffective due to the overwhelming evidence. Listening to this atty, I learned what a fair defense is supposed to be, what a fair appeal is supposed to be, along with proper advice on how to interact with the police. That's about the best we will ever get in this trial.

  • @niksxr

My all time favourite trial. It's so obvious that the attorneys knew whether she really did it.
Reason: an attorney can legally know that his client did it and keep it to themselves, but in that case they cannot perform certain stunts like knowingly allowing their client to commit perjury and lie on the stand. They cannot state themselves the fact that their client did not commit what he's accused of, e.g. during openings/closings.
Now the brief 10 minute talk about whether she should take the stand, and finally the "I won't tell you who I think..." really nailed it

NcArthur was adjudicated by a group of her peers; after they saw all of the evidence, they believed that she absolutely did murder Taylor Wright, and steal money from her. I watched the entire trial online, and I, too, believe that Ashley McArthur is where she belongs after committing theft, and murder. It was horrible what she did, and it doesn't appear as if she takes responsibility for what she did! She had a right to an attorney, but I don't believe she is an innocent person who didn't deserve to be punished. Thankfully, the jury didn't know of her additional crimes for which she was also found guilty. She knew more than most how evidence is collected for a trial, and she certainly knew that she shouldn't have spoken to the police without an attorney present! Clearly, she thought she was smarter than the police, and that they would believe her lies, despite the evidence and incredible coincidences in this case! I feel badly for McArthur's Mom, and loved ones, but their pain is entirely as a result of the criminal decisions Ashley McArthur made! My ultimate concern is for Taylor Wright's loved ones, and I hope that the wonderful memories they have of her will eventually give them comfort, and peace as they continue to grieve her loss, Sherrey🎀

I can't understand how any attorney with any moral values of right and wrong can defend someone that is obviously guilty of taking another life and throwing their body away as if trash . Burying someone after murdering them with nobody knowing where their loved one is, is the cruelest part of it all. To leave parents, siblings spouses, extended family and friends to worry and praying every second they will be found safe.. It's cruel. She had an identity, she was loved and gave love, she felt pain and hurt and didn't deserve to have her life ended and buried with no marker to her life. The only good of of this is she was found and was able to have those that loved her lay her to rest properly and mourne her loss. Ashley got what she deserved. Hope she enjoys that cold cell that will be her life until her last breath. It won't change and undo this tragedy but it's a bit of deserving justice. Now her loved ones can begin to heal and keep her memory alive until they one day join her again.

Miranda was fine. No gun necessary. Photo with gun isn’t a problem. Worst thing is the judge rushing, making the attorneys cut down their presentation of evidence, but if there was a hurricane coming then it was reasonable, unless the jury thought they MUST bring in a verdict on that Friday. It’s always bad for a case to go to a jury on a Friday, because they want to get it done and especially before this holiday weekend. I’m interested to find results of appeal.

You look at this young woman and say NO WAY she's not the type but by the time the case is through you find yourself looking for even one piece of testimony/evidence that points anywhere but exactly at Ashley. The well established family had a street named after them, She was running a 30 year old family business etc. which she then steals from and then kills a friend for 35K etc etc. seriously thinking she would get away with this? Sorry girlie all told several things seriously wrong here on many levels. Off you go !

that lawyer ...... that statement and picture should have been admitted THANK KARMA IT WAS....WHINEY LAWYER YOU LOST THIS CASE BECAUSE SHE IS SO GUILTY AND THE STATE PROVED IT BEYOND ANY DOUBT. Listening to this trial, had I been on the jury I would have rendered the exact same verdict.... sounds like all you all wanted was some of the evidence that helped prove her guilt not admitted SO IT WOULD BE MUCH EASIER TO DO YOUR JOB! . thank you karma !!!!

Ashley, this is what you should have done. Taylor wants her money returned. Ignore her. She starts to hound you for her money. Still ignore her. Let her confront you out at the Bar or wherever you may be and tell her nothing. And then one day when she confronts you desperately wanting her money you break into a fight in front of your friends.
At that point Florida’s Stand your Ground kicks in and pull out your favorite Glock and take her out! Later tell the court in tears that you feared for your life. Freedom Baby!!!Money should be spent or buried on the Farm for future reference.

Wouldn't have worked because she already admitted to being with Taylor while the girlfriend was texting trying to get in touch. Then of course the other evidence shows she was with her at the murder scene and then had her phone with her for days. Her best bet would've been to make up some crazy story and say it was self defense. Glad she didn't though.

agreed. I think that's exactly what happened so if she is so intelligent, as even the prosecutor said, how did she make so many mistakes? She should have told the truth and I think they had a fight and Taylor, being just as aggressive went to the car or turned around to get her gun and Ashley shot her in the back of the head
