I feel like the blocky aesthetic is just a staple of Roblox and twisting it to tell more morbid stories makes the buildings themselves feel really out of place, which is why it works so well! Sadly, I feel like It's starting to be overused due to how relatively easy it is to build blocky models... Great video!

Yeah, it does work. There is just a correct way of doing it, and the incorrect way of doing it. The incorrect way: Buggy multiplayer messes that have no horrifying monster or good story to show for it and just a cash cow. If it does well, Chapter 2. If it doesn't, scrapped. And the worst part: none of them made me flinch. Examples: weird strict dad and that's about it. (Not experience horror games because they aren't old roblox style) The correct way: Psycoligical horror, horrifying monster that stands out during the climax of the game, and good quality & story. Il say each example separated (except for one) Jim's computer: absolute terrifying masterpiece that really makes you think something is out there or in your closet during night in the game. Residence Massacre: cool old roblox town by day, terrifying monster, atmosphere, ambience, and setting by night. This is the only time this concept was done right in roblox. A nostalgic hangout game & a crossroads hangout game: Good story. Voice acting. Psycological horror. Amazing chase scene. Always on the damn edge of my seat. These games are one of, if not THE BEST DAMN GAMES ON THE PLATFORM RIGHT NOW. If you have not played either of them, go check them out. Warning tho: LOTS OF FLASHING LIGHTS. Anyways that's my little rant about the blocky style of horror games. (Note: i dont count ASO as a old style game. But i think its almost on the level of ANHG and ACHG. I just think they have the slight edge due to the very unique story of ANHG and ACHG with the classic roblox myths. ASO imo is extremely similar to both of those games due to how they just toy with you. ASO actually kinda doxxes you in the game (dont worry its not that bad) and know when you tab out. ANHG & ACHG breaks the fourth wall atleast 14 times during the game lmao. So yeah ASO is an amazing game if you wanted my opinion on it aswell but i think it doesnt really matter.)
great video, the games you mentioned at the beginning are like very clearly horror but the old roblox style really makes you feel nostalgic and comfortable then it can quite effectively rip you out of that comfort which is why i love this subgenre
Tophat King i have some video ideas: Weird Strict Dad story Explained Weird Strict Dad Theories Explained For this one i don't really have a name but it's that all this games: Jim's Computer, A Stereotypicial Obby, Residence Massacre and Wierd Strict Dad, have all got a storyline, and i have some theories, like Jim actually didn't die and was in every game i mentioned and A Stereotypicial Obby being some game on VR that Jim played on and The Helper and all others in A Stereotypicial Obby (for example: monster from Experiment 0) being a real humans but found them being stuck in a VR and more... (btw your making good videos keep it up👍).
When it comes to the whole timeline theory, I’ve made a video debunking the theory that the games are all connected (it’s the video before this). Thank you for suggesting though
It really depends. Old roblox strives on simplicity in design. UGC items can definitely enhance an experience if it’s simple but it can also harm it if it’s like super complex or just looks out of place. Depends on how use it
