@@klp7620 You don't know what you're talking about. At all. How much time have you spent in religious polygynous circles? I'd guess none. However, you did happen to say one correct thing, though: that jealousy comes from the fear of losing the guy. Nevertheless, what you fail to realise is that in cultures where polygyny is the norm, a woman doesn't fear losing her man because he takes another wife. Educate yourself, Western man.

@@klp7620 I think you should calm down, missy. Until you expand your horizons, you'll only be able to speak from a very narrow and naive worldview. Truth is, polygyny is more common than monogamy, especially when one considers millennia of human history and cultures other than the modern West, which is a dead culture partly because of how it views relationships. Even today, most women share the best men; the only difference is that they're treated like trash and have no real commitment or security.

No it's not. Gen 2 - 24, basically dictates monogamy. Some men in the Bible did take on more than one wife but that was never how it was designed, deigned, nor condoned.

Polygamy is perfectly lawful according to the Bible. It's the fix to the population decline in the West. A man can have as many wives as he can afford, care for, and "service" according to the Bible.
Creating a bunch of broken families would create another problem... a bunch of broken families. Listen I totally understand the concern the issue with 1 baby momma and 3 baby daddies. Doesn't mean elon musk with 6 baby mommas fixes the problem of there being multiple baby grand daddies and grand mommas....

Because without it is anarchy (we're slowly seeing that come to past in the West right now, or look no further than what happened with the CHAZ/CHOP zones). There isn't one modern, industrialised nation out there that isn't founded on the principles of a sound religion.

This Rob guy is off the rocks and purposely leading Christian men astray. There isn't one verse nor any condoning of polygyny in the Bible. The verse he's referring to about the V-card is Exodus 22 and 16. It refers to the laws of the land -- the Old Law, as it's referred to -- and it's about if a man gets with a woman who is not bethrothed to someone else he must marry her and make her his bride and pay the price for her. It says nothing about taking on multiple -- in fact, Gen 2 - 24 is strictly about monogamy aand THAT was the law. The new Testament also repeatedly notes for those who follow Christ to only take on a wife and marry to avoid falling into temptation, first Corinthians 7:9 makes that clear. Also he purposely misquotes Nathan's parable about the rich man and the lamb to David -- just past that in second Samual 12 - 8, which is what Rob is referring to -- God does not say anything about polygyny, but about blessings for doing His will, and if David had asked for "such and such things", he would have given it to him. But by and large, the rule of the land -- and the law as it was dictated -- was monogamy.
Look, if you want to be a polygamist, go ahead and do so. If you want multiple wives, more power to you. If you want to engage in hedonism, good on you. But trying to misrepresent the Bible and encourage men who may be attempting to live righteous lives to indulge in hedonistic practices is no better than a certain sect trying to encourage everybody to engage in promiscuity to "find your truth".
TBF there were forms of polygyny and even polygamy permitted in the old testament, levirate marriage was even considered a man's duty for example and more than one prophet had multiple wives or at least one wife plus concubines, but AFAIK Christ was against both polygamy and extramarital sex and the Church has always forbidden it so it's kind of a moot point and seems dumb to use the Bible to justify taking multiple wives lol. He probably should have gone the mormon route instead.
@@doomguy9049 Yeah there were definitely a lot of cases of polygamy in the Old Testament -- it wasn't necessarily condoned, but it was given a measure of grace through the conduit of the Levites who basically made burnt offerings on behalf of the people for their sins, which covered those things (unless, of course, someone(s) did something so vile that it required some kind of wrath, sort of like what happened with Achan).
@@Billy-bc8pk I'm no theologian but that was my understanding as well, aside from the duty to marry your brother's childless widow to give him an heir it was sort of tolerated rather than encouraged, same as with divorce.
Okay I like all of these comments better than what I saw from above. Yet I’d love to be edified to understand how Genesis 2-24 is about monogamy rather than an explanation of the beginning of times, and the acknowledgment of bloodlines, based on rules, etc
@@kosherdragons843 Because it was deigned as such with Adam and Eve being the protoypical example. It was later reiterated by Jesus and Paul -- but specifically Genesis 2 and 20 - 25 basically cover it all. It talks about how God made Adam a helper out of Eve, and that it would be one man and one woman, united to become one flesh. It's also highlighted in Malachi chapter versus 14 through 16, where he states that the Lord is a witness between "thee"/man and wife of the youth, and that he hates when a man has dealt treacherously with her, and a wife of the covenant. It also plainly states "and did not he make one? Yet had he the reside of the spirit. And wherefore one? That he might seek a goldly seed. Therefore take heed to your spirit and let none deal teacherously against the wife of his youth". Basically, holy relationships were deigned to be monogamous. It's also why God oftentimes refers to Israel as his "wife", a people that were supposed to be chosen to follow His commandments and have a covenant with Him like a man would his betrothed.
