The terrain is rugged, and the subpolar oceanic climate is windy, wet, cloudy, and cool.
    The Faroe Islands consist of 18 major islands, and they are characterized by rugged landscapes, cliffs, and deep fjords. The islands are known for their dramatic scenery, with picturesque villages nestled in the valleys. The Faroe Islands are made up of an approximately six-kilometers-thick succession of mostly basaltic lava that was part of the great North Atlantic Igneous Province during the Paleogene period.

    "Hundreds of tourists visit every year". Hundreds!?
    It's a very beautiful place for sure, but the rewards for making the trip there to that isolated spot on the globe are indeed limited to its natural beauty. And then one prays that the weather is good enough to even explore that beauty. Understandable I suppose that tourism is limited, but only into the hundreds, per year? Is that correct?

    Where are the forests? For me (personal opinion only), it is not that beautiful, is more a desolate island where humans had such impact that now is just rocks on the sea. It reminds me of the north of England and Scotland where forests were cut until nothing is left. Even though it doesn't seem they have native trees, it seens hard to believe as Scandinavia and Canada at the same latitude have forests. And Iceland had also its forests decimated by humans

      I heard that it's too windy up there and that the wind blows a lot of sea salt over the terrain.
