My Dad is in this video at The Stockyard Cafe. Ya'll must have been there on a Friday and in January bcuz my Dad passed away in mid September. Thank you very much for the this quick view of him.
As a native of Amarillo, I’m glad you enjoyed your visit! This video summed up the stereotypical things. We also have a thriving arts community, a great dining scene, award winning coffee shops, and lots more to offer! You’re welcome back anytime ❤
I'm from Amarillo Born and raised us locals don't really do the challenge at big Texan but we love watching it i go every year like 6 times a year sometimes it gets old but i still go
Born and raised in Amarillo. Never once have I visited the Cadillac Ranch or the American Quarter Horse Museum. Growing up here the most interesting things were the haunted buildings and stories we all heard about
We got to make a brief road trip stop in Amarillo this Summer. We chose to take a 2 hour trail ride with Cowgirls and Cowboys in the West. It was a wonderful experience. Amarillo and the Palo Duro Canyon are beautiful.
I’m a kid who lives in Amarillo and it was fun watching this, you said Amarillo is full of cowboys and stereotypical cowboys, but like in schools and households it’s more like Utah moms, Stanley kids, and the guys are basically polar opposites of cowboys 😂
Born and raised in Amarillo. Amarillo gets a bad rep most of the time but I personally love this town so much. It's grown so much the past 10 years and I love everything about the city. It's not perfect but it's home.
I live in Amarillo and this is all very true and I am very glade that you have enjoyed your visit and if you like Amarillo then if I where you I would go to Canyon
Ur gonna make me miss my city when I move for trade school 🥲 I love Amarillo and just seeing it on camera being recognized is such a blessing. I love being Texan and I love that I was born and raised in Amarillo ❤🫡 definitely gonna miss this place but I’ll be back eventually
We were stationed at Cannon AFB in the middle of nowhere Clovis, NM...Amarillo and Lubbock were about an hour and a half from where we were at and on the weekends, it'd be like driving into town for us at either location ❤ (love both cities and somehow they both have a small town charm)
Please do an episode on Lindale. Tx. Home.of Miranda Lambert, and much more. Stay at my Best Western hotel for free while you film. Brisket love is the best BBQ in East Texas
I live here and I really wish more people knew the history of this place. I find it extremely appalling that when people try to convince you to visit Amarillo they say things like “the restaurant scene is good and sometimes we have cool murals” Brother the dining scene? Pffft, the history of this place is immense. From PDC being the last camp of the Comanches to the old Gunslinger history that is still carried by last names like “Youngblood” Glad this video dove into more of the history and not just visit tourist spots, it’s actually really refreshing
I love seeing people come to the place ive lived my whole life and love it so much, loved seeing you enjoy the canyon where i practically grew up, the last hike up to the lighthouse is a fun one, way steeper irl you have to use your 4LD or four limb drive 😂
Dude, you took a short trip from Lubbock to Amarillo. My brother lives in Plans, just west of Lubbock, and I live in the DFW area. I can easily make it to his house in a day. I did grow up in Dalhart, so on weekends, we would go to Amarillo. It took about an hour and a half to get there, but we would spend all day Saturday hanging out and having fun as teenagers.
I grew up @ BR. I call Amarillo my home, although ive been gone close to 40 years. Ive passed through several times and seen some good changes and some sad outcomes of places that never grew. Live in New Jersey now and work in NYC.
Cadillac Ramch urban legend. They say Stan had made so much money he was able to buy a new Cadillac every year. His wife was tired of storing them so she asked him to sell them. Instead he buried them “putting each model to rest” They say the reason be buried them nose down is because he didn’t want anyone to unbury them and drive off. I Rembrandt the first time I saw them in 1989. The cars were intact. With the original paint and leather interior. Truly a sight to see a fully functional car just buried.
Even if you can't finish the 72 oz steak dinner it's only $72. I just read an article today about some nice chain steakhouse selling 40 ounce tomahawk steaks for $250.
They actually took all of the paint off the Cadillacs recently, so they were shortly blank slates. I also have a cousin that works at the Quarter Horse Museum. Was Wonderland Park not open while you were there?
It would not had been. He didn't state what month he was there in 2013, but there was snow on the ground in the canyon while he was down there, so was probably January/February. Wonderland is only open around the summer time or some occasional special events.
I've never seen your videos before but you summed up Amarillo pretty quick lived here my whole life. You missed some things but they probably wouldn't have been as good in a video. We got a lot more than Route 66 in the Palo Duro Canyon but you did a good job and yes a lot of things at least up here in Amarillo are bigger Boulder Wilder maybe it's because Terrain is so flat yes sir this is God's country and we are very country normally very hospitable also but you did miss all the meth addicts one of the things of our boredom up here in such a flat Terrain but it's become a way of life for us you're either a cowboy or on meth okay we got a really great Hospital too there's lots of nurses in our schools are good also but to sum it up thank you this is a good video I liked it I enjoyed it as a person from here God bless
A lot more than rednecks and meth heads in Amarillo. He did miss a few places like the Panhandle Plains Historical Museum (Biggest in Texas). Unfortunately places like Asarco and the Helium plant along with Amarillo AFB are gone now. And it is not like he can make a video of Pantex. Point is there are more places to see and not everyone on Amarillo is involved in farming and ranching. Just a stereotype. And yes the wind blows and it snows in Texas almost every year. But Amarillo has some of the friendliest people in Texas (and a few soreheads too). A gem most people in the big triangle of Texas know little about. Hopefully this video can help.
If no one has said it yet, Stanley marsh was a big time creep. I went to school with one of his victims and I always felt real bad for the dude. He was a good guy that didn’t deserve what happened to him.
Spent 15 years at Amarillo at the Clements Unit while I was in prison. Only place they could put me where I didn't know anyone, and now I do, so no telling where they'll have to put me if I ever go back. Hope I don't. Interesting place, though...and the folks ain't too bad either.
No haunted buildings, tons of construction for the next 5years and angry drivers having to put up with all that traffic being diverted , when you walk into the stockyards cafe everyone will know you are not local.
