It's such a joy to be able to preserve memories as gifts for family and friends. Your cousins will love and treasure these bowls...and love you (even more) for making them!
Just watched your “ Good, Bad and Ugly”, video. For what it is worth, you and Phil Anderson are my two favourite channels. You are both originals, talented and are entertaining. Phil is in his 70’s and I guess you to be 30ish and both of you have an excellent grip on life. Keep being you. I see your subscriber tally growing steadily…that’s a good thing. By the way, you have a lovely family. Beautiful work all around. Thanks for the entertainment and for providing me with many new turning ideas.
...well, the bowl looks great!...another well done project...👍 Criticisms???...the view through your windows makes me shiver as I'm sittin' here on my lanai in shorts and a t-shirt...😆 Matt
I love the story behind this piece, and think it's great that you are sharing it with family. Also, I like the way you can take a less-than-perfect piece of wood with interesting figuring and make something beautiful out of it!
Very nice piece with a special story as a memorial. Glad you showed how you made your inlay material. I went to a local locksmith/key shop and got a bunch of shavings from their grinder. They were not as fine as needed so put in a coffee grinder to make them very fine and much easier to work with. Note, I only use this grinder for grinding spices, tried shells and now this and always clean it with grinding rice through it. Keep up the great work buddy.
Thank you so much my friend. I had a friend recommend the key shavings as well but I knew the filings would be to large. Thank you for the tip of using a dedicated grinder to this kind of stuff I might just have to try that out 😊
This piece definitely tells 2 stories. One is how sick the tree was and why it had to bei felled. The other is about your family and your grandparents. But you learned a new technique out of this which is also very good. Looking forward to seeing you doing more Inlays...
In all honesty, im a glutton for punishment. I catch myself frequently doing something that is more difficult just to continue to grow. Thank you for your support my friend ✌️
Thank you, the new machine is a Rikon 70-3040. She’s a big full size beast with a small footprint. The bed slides to expand spindle capacity and makes for a huge swing potential. I love it ✌️
Thank you my friend, I do always push for a finish but some pieces are easier to hog out or shape in with a pull. Green wood always push cuts for sure some dry pieces give me hell with a push 😆
Fill the crack with CA-glue you probably will have to do this serval times but it will keep you from getting hurt. Or cut the shape of the bowl and put it into a container and mix up some resin and put it into your presuer pot and let it set up overnight.
Nice to see you back. Cool bowl, I try to use the lightest colored wood in the piece for repairs, it always darkens. How do you like your rikon, how was the price?
I love the new machine, I feel it’s a perfect pairing between small footprint with full size lathe power and girth. Price wasn’t bad, i times the purchase with a woodcraft sale and got it delivered to the store to cut out shipping cost 👍

Mate, I’m still in awe with how you can naturally bring out the best in a piece.
Thank you soo much brother ✌️

Keep the great work coming my friend.
Thank you my friend 🙂
Like the looks of the burls in the background
😏 I need a coring system before I mess around with most of them, it would break my heart to turn some of those big ones to mostly chips.
Really well done! Look forward to the next one!
Thank you very much!

Loving the brass mate.
Thank you 🙏
Don't dig the worm holes? Make them a feature of the bowl and embrace them into the turning. You may surprise yourself how much you like it.
The brass in the work holes is definitely a technique I will use moving forward 🙂
@@dukaheritage9445 That’s ok too! Thanks for sharing!
There is so much to look at in a piece like this, just beautiful Todd.
Thank you 🙏
Mr. Duka, if a piece of wood were perfectly beautiful, but had no flaws to present you with difficult challenges, would you choose it for firewood? 🤔
In all honesty, im a glutton for punishment. I catch myself frequently doing something that is more difficult just to continue to grow. Thank you for your support my friend ✌️
NIce Piece
Thanks so much
I am glad to see you back.could you tell me about your new lathe.i love it

Try making a bowl with only push cuts. It changes everything. Your left hand just adds weight to the gouge to keep it from vibrating.
Thank you my friend, I do always push for a finish but some pieces are easier to hog out or shape in with a pull. Green wood always push cuts for sure some dry pieces give me hell with a push 😆
👍👍

Really nice, Todd. You said at the beginning that it was somewhat wet. Any problems with warping or further cracking?
Bill
This one was at around 16° when I first cut it, so far so good 😊

I will work a bit more on describing interesting or difficult parts of the process ✌️
Beautiful
