One thing Duka Heritage does that’s really special to me: he makes sure the finished piece retains features that tell the story of the lifetime of that piece of wood.
Well, I like the finished result, Todd, as well as the process to produce it. It’s nice to see you back at the lathe and, as always, thank you for sharing 🌞
As always, a pleasure to watch you at your craft. So appreciate how you include your thoughts as you turn, showing us that creative genius at work. I like that you use a little resin to make a piece complete without having resin become the piece. Thank you for sharing.
You really used All The Things to bring this one to completion! She's a rough beauty. Gorgeous grain and what a great eye you had to recognize that in an old chopping block. You gave her a second life...she used to get beat up every day, now she gets to be admired!
Talk about perseverance. Duka Heritage definitely has it. Plus a lot of patience. I lost your channel very unfortunately since my tablet and my laptop broke. So I am so happy to have found your channel again and to see that you have got a new lathe among other improvements to your workshop. That bowl is a true character piece. Awesome.
Bro! LOVE the contrast of the white epoxy with the warm tones of the apple wood! Definitely had your work cut out for you but, it was a big win! Well done!
Incredible beauty from wood that most would have put in a fire!! So much grain going so many different ways must have been a booger bear to turn. I’m still using the Brad’s products. Noticed you using the Yorkshire Grit and really putting a shine on it!! Good job!! Keep on turnin’ ‘cause love it and Thank You for doing so!!
That was a hard fought battle man! Turned out great. Not sure the white did anything for me, but I totally appreciate the work in that piece. Great job! Wes @ Piedra Designs
I appreciate that my friend, I really wanted to highlight the flaws in this one to bring its story to life. Just wish the resin presented itself more uniform. I’ll have to find another method 🙂
Quite a workout. For the next one, you might try black resin with the black or brown CA glues for a more cohesive color palette. Truly a one of a kind bowl with a back story. Hope you write a page to go with it.
Thank you so much, really glad you liked the piece. With this one I was really trying to find a way to highlight the flaws in this piece and make them more like features. I think it brings some more of its story to life that way. 🙂
Thank you my friend, Im liking the technique of highlighting the flaws. I just wish the resin displayed more uniform, perhaps I’ll try a new method in the future.
Nice job. The fruit woods are fantastic. My favorites are peach and apricot. Like your lathe. Probably the second best out there for most woodturners with Robust the best all around in my opinion. Enjoy your vids.
I work with old barn beams frequently and I have found this tool to be pretty good. Granted it is harbor freight, I store mine with out the battery in. It is holding up so far. Barn beams are full of metal and this finds it pretty well. Cheaper than the router bits, band saw blades or chain saw chains. Less than $20 last i knew. Just my thoughts.
You might want to try UV resin to infill instead of mica powder and CA glue. You can tint the UV resin the same as your regular resin for less color shifting
Bowl turned out nice but you earned it! Bandsaw and chainsaw blades toasted in one chunk of wood is a pretty high price. Question: have you gotten used to the bigger lathe yet? Stuart
A chuck is essential, many of the other tools are complimentary. Really depends on what you’re turning but as in any trade the complimentary tools become essential once you have them. Slow and steady, piece by piece ✌️
good video. Sorry about the nails. You are one of the few turners on UA-cam that uses a Rikon 70-3040. What made you decide to go with that late over the others in the same price range? Do you still use it/Like it? Keep up the good work. Alex Garcia - DragonHollow Woodturning
Thank you 😊 I love the Rikon. I think the biggest factor was the small footprint, huge swing potential, and the sliding bed which maintains the bed length potential.
It's to bad you don't have the time and find a container that would hold your Bowl that you could put the whole bowl in plastics maybe doing it in stages of different colors of plastic risn. In the cracks and then turn it back down I think that would look really cool.
It's wood, and wood that has had quite a previous life, so you're bound to get all kinds of strange and ugly stuff. But that's the beauty of wood. If we wanted something uniform we'd turn resin or metal or something.
A beast of a bowl mate with stunning features. Well done mate, check out my latest and leave me a comment what you think I should do with my two pieces!!! Lol.

Makes me soo happy to hear that my friend, I really do try ✌️👍 thank you 🙏
Excellent work and truly magnificent timber
Thank you very much!
It's a great bowl I learned a lot! 👍👍👍
Thank you 🙏

Thank you my friend ✌️
It is an absolutely beautiful piece of wood. I know it was a pain in the butt, but you made it into an amazing bowl.
Thank you 🙏

Thank you so much!
Beautiful piece of apple. It is amazing how it ages that it develops its own patina.
I totally agree! Thank you 🙏
It’s beautiful. Well worth the time. The most beautiful take time to develop.
Thank you soo much 🙂

😊 thank you
Always love the way you keep the natural markings and character of the wood...another amazing piece 😁👍💙
Thank you so much 😀
Шикарная работа!!!! Потраченные усилия и время не пропали даром!
Thank you soo much my friend ✌️
That is a fantastic looking bowl. Love the way it came out.
Thank you so much my friend ✌️

Thank you so much, and welcome back 🙂
I love the bowl. Leaving some of the scars makes the piece more believable. We all have scars that, even when we try, we can't hide. Well done!
Thank you 🙏 soo glad you feel that in this, I totally do too! 🙂
Stunning work as always Todd, the contrast of colours and textures is fantastic.
keep the great content coming.
Thank you so much my friend 🙏

Thank you soo much, this grain was tough for sure 😣
This was well worth your efforts - the figuring is amazing. I love it! I especially love the way you retain as much of it's character as possible.
Thank you so much 😀
Absolutely beautiful bowl! All the little "imperfections" make it unique and unlike any other. Thumbs up!
Thank you very much!
Really nice, Todd. That grain on the inside of the bowl is something special.
Bill
Thank you 🙏
F/A it came out sweet brother. The wood looked really hard great job, the finish was spot on .
Thank you.
Extremely difficult piece but the end result is beautiful. Well done!
Thank you very much!
Love it. Lots of character that I’m sure just about did you in. Very well done.
Thank you 🙏
I don’t like metal piercing in my wood either!!!!!!😂. Love the piece Brother!❤️
Right!! 😖😣
Very nice. I love the old discarded pieces of wood. You did a fantastic job showing its true beauty.
Thank you very much!
Another job well don Todd. Looks beautiful!
Glad you like it! Thank you 🙏
ほんとに捨てられそうな材料を、大切に取ってあったモノが素晴らしい作品になるなんて、信じられます。職人のなせる技、深い思いやりがこんなモノになるんですね。
Thank you so much

You're your own worst critic. I think it turned out beautifully
Thank you my friend ✌️
That is a really beautiful piece! Great work
Thank you very much!
That thing was a pita but holy smokes that is a beautiful bowl. I really like the pearl white on the red of the apple.
Thank you my friend, Im liking the technique of highlighting the flaws. I just wish the resin displayed more uniform, perhaps I’ll try a new method in the future.
It turned out beautifully brother!!!
Thank you my friend ✌️
That look great man! Awesome work!
Thank you 🙏
It was worth it 👏
Damn that looks awesome it amazes me what can be found under the bark of a rough bit of timber
Thank you 😊
Nice you really nailed this one 👌
Thank you very much!
All the cracks and faults make it interesting. Very nice.
Many thanks!

Thank you my friend, I haven’t had the opportunity to play with apricot or peach but I do look forward to that day ✌️
Thanks for keeping your word clean your to hard on your self it looks wonderfully
Thank you 🙏
Beautiful bowl and a hell of a job turning it also!!!
Enjoyed your video and I gave it a Thumbs Up
Thank you very much!
@@dukaheritage9445 You're very welcome!!!
Nice looking bowl.
Thank you ✌️

Thank you for the suggestion I’ll have to look into that. 👍
Looking good.
Thanks 👍
Turned out gorgeous!! ❤ Where did the nails even come from anyway?
Thank you 🙏 as far as the nails who knows. That cut was a chopping block for at least 10 years before it made it to my shop 🙂

Nice!
Thanks!
Love it!

I'm thinking of getting a 70-3040 how are you liking yours?
Bowl turned out nice but you earned it! Bandsaw and chainsaw blades toasted in one chunk of wood is a pretty high price.
Question: have you gotten used to the bigger lathe yet?
Stuart
Thank you 🙏. I love the new machine for sure.

How is the new Lathe working out for you
I love it 🙂
where to buy the epoxy?
I prefer ArtResin, TotalBoat, or Let’s Resin. ArtResin being the most forgiving.
Noice!
Thank you 🙂

I’ve done casting before, but this one was about 16” roughed in.
Piece of wood: " I don't think I'll let you turn me today"
Todd: "The hell you say! Hold me beer"
Great work as always Todd.
