      +Jeff Sellers Hello Jeff! Standard form is used often as a formal way to write an equation such as when it's used in Set-Builder notation. Also, it is used in systems of equations (especially the elimination and substitution methods). Slope-Intercept form is used in function notation, graphing and piecewise functions.

    In 7:26 why did you use the equation y= mx + b isnt that the equation of the slope intercept form ? This video is about standard form right ? Why did you use the slope intercept equation ?

      We may use the slope-intercept form or the point-slope form to create the equation which is then converted into standard form.

    Okay, so my homework on standard form is giving me problems with fractions. If the equation of standard form CAN'T be written in fractions and MUST all be in integers, why is it asking for it? For instance: 3x + 2 = 1/3 (y - 1). See what I mean? Please get back to me as soon as possible. Thank you!

      Sorry I meant at the very start -x+3y=12 in the other ones when a question occurred like this you preferred to / by -1 how come you went through this all the stages you did and not just at the very start /by -1

      It's because that equation is not being written in standard form. We needed to get the slope from that equation.

    I'm English if you know we have gcse we have two separate papers higher and foundation, foundation is g-c c being the best and higher is a star to a c what grade in my gcse grade would knowing this get me to thanks again fbt
