  • I'm making a wooden tray from gorgeous figured walnut. These are going to be for a decorative tray. I decided to make it from walnut, with a plaid-style wooden bottom. In this video, I kick the project off by milling up and assembling the wood plaid pattern. I also designed wooden tray handles and sloped sides. You’ll see how I used a template to cut out the shape with the bandsaw, and then finish up the tray sides at the router table and a flush trim bit.

I know this video is 3 years old but I just saw it. If you used a CNC to make the handle template, why not use the CNC to cut out the handles?

Is hide glue waterproof? I thought only titebond 3 was

No, it's not water proof. But it also doesn't desegregate with water if the glue is dry.

@@NewtonMakes ok. I don't think anyone is implying it would disintegrate. when I put that much time into a project that will repeatedly be exposed to water and changes in moisture levels I use water resistant glue. Was just wondering if there was more then titebond 2/3 with those properties.

I'm not implying that you're implying that I'm implying that you're implying it'll disintegrate. You asked; I answered. Though it really has nothing to do with this tray because it's a decorative tray. There shouldn't be water on it.

Honest question: Why hide glue? I know it's strong and great for furniture, but I thought it was sensitive to heat and water. Will your finish seal and protect the joints?
