Those monster terraced roadcuts are amazing, I’d be scouring them for fossils. Also, chert does not turn into shale, they are two very different rocks.
You need to get someone to give you a tour around Kentucky
More than likely it was a form of zaleski flint, it’s a more southern variant of the coshocton chert vein. That vein runs from Sandusky to southern lawrence county Ohio, which was where you were when you crossed into Ohio on 52. Just north of there in Gallia county the flint is not as high quality but we have bunches of brush creek chert (crooksville chert) in outcroppings along some of the creeks. That’s where I get my practice chert for knapping. Cool video, I’ve been on them kinds of hunts before, drive everywhere then it pops up right under ya when you least expect it. Good luck and keep on rock’n

Country ham is the best shit ever you are missing out take the skillet add flour and lil water, get all that good flavor off bottom of pan cooked into your rue then add black coffee, butter, pepper, pinch of sugar and dollop of milk that's my red eye gravy recipe if you put cooked ham in gravy the salt will transfer to it and the meat won't be so saltified.
That sounds amazing. Will have to try it!
@Vision Quest Outdoors The ham will get tender in the gravy, just throw it back in after you get the drippings worked into your gravy and eat it over toast is my favorite breakfast. I love rock hunting! Thank you for making such interesting videos keep up the good work!
