- Jigging from the rocks for squid at night -
In this video I will be using a mixture of different squid jigs on a 1 up 1 down rig to catch squid from the rocks at night.
This video is ideal for beginners that want to learn how to catch squid at night.
Fishing from Piers, Sea walls, promenades and other well lit up areas for squid has always been a popular way for anglers to spend time of an evening targeting squid.
These venues can offer up some great squid fishing during the late autumn & winter months.
Being popular venues they are also often pretty crowded places to fish so when these locations are busy at peak fishing times of an evening I make my way to the rocks accompanied by my 50wt flood lights to see if I can draw the squid in under the lights to catch them using various jigs.
During this video you will see footage from a short trip out on the rocks whilst as I use a mixture of different jigs with various features such as rattles, quick sink rates and glow jackets to catch squid.

Loved this video, really informative. I'm in the Dundee area of Scotland, I assume that that squidding doesn't happen here? I've never heard anyone talk about it. I'm thinking area dependent, thought Arbroath is near by.
it’s worth a try matey if there is a pier nearby that has a few baitfish or smaller species such and whiting, smelt or pollack around in the area.
The squid might be there on the feed.
Perhaps try late autumn.
