  • Lure fishing for bass around Icho Tower -
    In this video I will be using a mixture of different lures over shallow ground whilst bass fishing from the Kayak.
    This video is ideal for beginners that want to learn about lure fishing for bass.
    Trying something slightly different by lure fishing around Icho tower over the high tide would mean I needed to head out at first light to try and battle the fast flowing tide whilst making my way 2km offshore on Jerseys South East coast.
    Icho Tower built to fend off French attacks during the Napoleonic war has a lot of reefs surrounding it which offers up some excellent fishing opportunity’s
    for those willing to make the journey out there.
    Usually when lure fishing this part of the coastline I will follow the tide out on the ebb and return on the flooding tide for what can be quite a long day.
    This trip was certainly about trying something little different with my approach to fishing this part of the coast but it was certainly worth it.

    My Grandfather who lived in le Hocq knew that area inside out , when he went out in his dory he sometimes on certain tides said he was going to the magic roundabout at the back of the tower , always came back with a lot of big bass

    Many years ago, I walked from Icho Tower to la Rocque, fortunately it was a very low tide. Nuff said!

    • @FISHISLANDTV
      @FISHISLANDTV  4 місяці тому +1

      I have never done the walk myself although I have heard it’s very interesting seeing all the marine life left in the rock pools between the two places.
      Perhaps I should give it a go one day!
      Thanks for watching it’s much appreciated!

      @@FISHISLANDTV I had to get a move on because I know how fast the tide comes in, having fished Grouville Bay many times. I did a lot of kayak fishing there in the late 90's, using the ebb from La Rocque to fish the outer reefs, had plenty of fish, bass, wrasse and pollack but happily retired now.

      it races up dosnt it I’m going to give it a go out by the conchière on the jigs and softies for the pollock and wrasse in the summer.
      I’d imagine smaller tides out there would be an advantage for slightly slower drifts.

    Dear friend, I think it's a bad idea to go kayak fishing with boots on. Safety above all. Good fishing! Good video!

    • @FISHISLANDTV
      @FISHISLANDTV  4 місяці тому +2

      Hello there,
      I find the boots lightweight, comfortable and long lasting as the entire boot is free of any metal including the boot laces loops etc etc.
      if you have a better suggestion for footwear I’d be open to trying something different.
      I wear them over my dry trousers to protect the socks.
      in the summer I’m happy to wear wetsuit/surfing boots.
      what brand of footwear do you wear?
      Thanks for watching it’s much appreciated!

      @@FISHISLANDTV I did tie to a storm damaged bunch of pots and ropes wrapped around them on the flood but kept an eye on how much rope I had spare as this bunch the buoy must submerge about half tide. On that 25’ tide day. Cheers for the Astorie lesson out there mate. Used the one I have with more confidence since. Getting it moving better.

      The correct boots accompany the dry suit & is what I wear for immersion along with the usual other safety devices. It’s not flip flop country.
