Dont let the world change you, when you were born to change the world
I liked that talk.
My FAVORITE part of the conference was the children's choir singing "Gethsemane!"
Just... WOW. ❤
Then Bednar's talk, and Nelson's talk, and most of the rest.
Interesting how your favorite part wasn't anything that was actually said (because honestly general conference is fairly boring and the message is generic)
@@Freddy78909 As a school teacher, I would say (:-) that "boredom" has more to do with the listener than with the presenter. A doctor reading a medical text is boring, but focusing on the principles in the text is vitally important.
@@phav1832 What about church members reading off their phone or a piece of paper during service? And every single time they read a general conference talk? Because that's what my church does. Personal testimony is rare.
Our most authentic self is our divine identity not our mortal personality.
you add divine there. its different. the so called "authentic self" pattern to our earth experiences and not divine. just like the eagle that grew and lived like the chickens. the eagle think what he did is is its "authentic self".
my favorite talk was Pres Nelson. sounds like the 2nd coming is very soon, which excites the heck out of me. Next week would work perfectly.
Right now is even more perfect 🤩
@@peter10562 I've still got some really good pizza I have to finish off... then I'll be ready 😆
@@gergenskits3940 I think your pizza will be better off in the Terrestrial world than the Telestial world lol
This is years away
Yes! I have grandchildren that are young teens. I would be quite happy to have things wind up SOON !
Much of the "authentic self" as defined by the world is the "natural man" which is what we're here to over come. True authenticity is sharing our struggles in doing so, not in sitting on our laurels and excusing our entropy and apathy with "that's just who/ what I am" and resisting the thing that would assist, heal, and strengthen us.
If it gets to hot, it blows up if it gets too cold it blows up, if it falls it blows up🤯🤯
Haha yeah I laughed out loud at that part of his talk. Loved the science and the dinomite analogy.
I thought he was quoting a scene from Lost 😂

As we walk as more highly committed disciples, we show that we ARE authentically people of faith, and as the Holy Spirit then builds more of the fruit of the Holy Spirit in us, we authentically become whom God created us to become.
I’ve always thought of the phrase authentic self as just leaning into the natural man. This is separate than our own individual personality and quirks
That is what it generally is. We all are authentically natural :). Being “authentic” isn’t bad, in and of itself. But what one chooses to be authentic about, is what matters. It doesn’t always equal being “virtuous” 😊
What I got from it is for example, I grew up under an angry father. My dad was mean and a lot of the time angry. So for several years of my teen and post-teen years I found myself getting annoyed and angry in many situations.
But, if I knew then what I know now of my relationship with my Heavenly Father I would bring my authentic self, or carnal man, into subjection to the Holy Spirit’s leading and guiding and spiritually be changed to a kinder and calmer person.
And I’m not correcting nor would I dare to correct Elder Soares, just sharing what I got from his talk.
I think this example is on point to what his message was.
As a Wisconsinite, I am so excited for the Milwaukee temple! 💜
wow you guys have expanded my understanding through what you guy had shared. you guys are appreciated, Love from New Zealand🇳🇿🤍
Elder Bednar, Elder Holland, and others that I can't remember really warned us to get our act together and be humble and obedient. I thought that was powerful and needed. The thing I heard that I thought some members might not like was Pres. Eyring's admonition to keep our teaching simple. I see so many comments on social media about wanting more "meat." Be careful what you ask for.
I wonder if the "authentic self" means changing the parts of ourselves that aren't Christlike.
I know someone who's "authentic self" includes social media addiction, and seeing technology as he would a toy. These are not his fault, and due to circumstances that out of his control, but to fix it, he would need to change his "authentic self" through Christ.
By putting off our own addictions and sins, and letting Christ change us into purer versions of ourselves, we change our "authentic self" to better reflect the teachings of Christ.
Determination to be your "authentic self" is putting fallen man as already being the height of virtue. Being the best you possible is much more desirable.
That’s how the world uses the term. But our most authentic selves can only be achieved by following the Gospel of Jesus Christ. That is how we obtain joy. And to have joy is why we exist.
Another fantastic video! Thank you!
I felt the theme was “the plan of salvation/happiness”. It was mentioned numerous times.
I agree that if we all focus on our discipleship and forget our authentic self, we may look like robots, all uniformed and all doing the same things. We have our personality and we are all different. That is our and
identity.
The bit of conference not broadcast was when the native Americans (representing 19 group) came to conference with thier valid tickets, only to be refused entry and escorted out. Chief midegah isn't happy about that. Can you follow up on this?
Truthfully, my favorite part was the children choir above all the talks.
The Coeur d'Alene temple!
I loved this conference but I'd love to hear your thoughts on this:
Maybe my mind imagined it, but I head several talks mention the whole concept of speaking your truth vs speaking God's truth.
You touched on it a bit when discussing how we are to give up our "authentic" selves for God's potential, which I agree will be hard for a lot of people to follow (including myself).
When should I allow myself and others to "speak their truth"? Is it bad to be tolerable of people when they go against God's truth? and when should I just let go of that and just "love thy neighbor"?
I'm praying to gain personal insight, but I always love to know what other faith focused members think :)
Because being a Disciple of Jesus Christ is our "actual full" authentic selves. Here is self reliance IN Christ... or being a reliable creation--fully-developed and properly set-free IN Christ enabled Exaltation--Divine Authenticity or Completion.
Get over it David. Members know the commandments and it’s getting tiring watching the continual pressure to stretch the boundaries.
👍
This popped up on my UA-cam page even though I do not subscribe to saints unscripted. But I guess a while back I did click on one of their shows and maybe the algorithms are working. I converted to the Church back in 2007 married a LDS women got divorced three years later people that were instrumental and one who had baptized me have all left the church including my x wife who was once a devout member of the church. So as a convert to the church this was my downfall in my faith watching all these people who said they believed that the Church was True have all left and disappeared pretty much out of my life. But during Covid I saw the worse of Latter- day Saints especially on social media some even called me an apostate for not taking the vaccine and not listening to President Nelson on this matter. I have recently left and no matter what I just cannot pull myself back into the church I am so hesitant to go back as I see a lot of WOKE stuff entering the church. I love this church but for some reason the damage is done and I can’t seem to come back and don’t know if I ever will. My TR is expired and that’s about it.
Hug
Your story is probably a common one, but still made me sad. The covid thing was really hard, especially if you didn’t have anyone around you who felt like you. It was a struggle for many and divided people and families. I never was vaxed and looked at what the prophet said as opinion, not anywhere close to commandment. A lot of my family felt the same, so I was not too bothered by the whole thing. But i am also surrounded by committed members who love the gospel of Jesus Christ. Im also sending hugs. Also, peace and a desire to come back! ❤️
0:34 Hello thank you
maybe earthly authenticity. since that is always an excuse for not changing ourselves for the better. remember the word "born again", take away your old self.
I gotta say as a new member of 6 months, there is way too much emphasis on President Nelson and the apostles. I don't hear much about Jesus or Joseph Smith. The church should rename itself "The Church of President Nelson". I'm just so over it. I already know the church I attend will focus every single Sunday service on one of the talks at conference instead of Christ. Because that's what they do now. Doubt I will still be a member a year from now! Oh and don't forget to pay your tithes. That's very very important to this church
We have living apostles and prophets unlike any other church who each testify of Christ. We are of corse going to listen to how they address modern issues with modern revelation.
Jesus Christ was the focus of the whole conference.
@@andrewdurfee3896 What modern revelation? They don't provide any new information, everything they say is already known. Worse, it's often a generic basic Christian 101 message. And Nelson was wrong about a number of things such as the LGBT exclusion policy he flip flopped on. That policy was one of his few "revelations" he said he got at the temple. Yet only a few years later he did a 180 and reversed it. He was wrong about the vaccine too
@@gemelindacjp7976 Do you have a talk you recommend then? Because what I hear is Jesus sprinkled throughout the talk in a vague way with no depth. For example the only time I hear of Jesus at the LDS church I attend is when members read a talk by President Nelson and Nelson mentions Jesus. There is no detailed discussion of his life or his ministry.
Read the book Jesus The Christ by Talmage. I didnt hear anything about the apostles or the president. Most of the talks were completely about Jesus. @Freddy78909
