    What’s amazing…. There are still obstacles. I gave an example to the sunbeams… chairs in the way of getting to the window to see the sun.. I asked what should I do? They said ask for help. I was blown away by the 4 year olds. I have a hard time asking for help. I asked them for help. They helped me get to the window. Which could not be opened, I asked them, now what do we do? Then we walked outside. What a great lesson of moving. Thanks Elder Bednard.

    “And about the time that Ammaron hid up the records unto the Lord, he came to me (I being about ten years of age, and I began to be learned somewhat after the manner of the learning of my people) and Ammaron said unto me: I perceive that thou art a sober child, and are quick to observe..”
    When I listen to Elder Bednar I think of this verse. You listen to him for just a few moments and it becomes clear that he is on another level or plane

    0:29 It occured to me that when the Lord says His burden is light he could also mean Light and Truth as well as un heavy. When we come unto Him and learn of Him we gain Light.

      No, he doesn't. You have added that because it makes you feel good and important. Christ simply said his burden is light. Which is absolutely true and deeply meaningful. He's not talking about Light and truth. You trying to change His beautiful and deep meaning obliterates his meaning and his intent.

    • @kaduyantv2857
      @kaduyantv2857 Місяць тому

      @@truthseeker4286experiencing trials, sufferings, problems and challenges is to gain light. It is because through darkest moment we come to know the meaning of Atonement of Jesus Christ. That realization is what makes the heavy burden become light because of the wisdom gained through relying on Jesus Christ.

    • @Hgwells159
      @Hgwells159 Місяць тому +3

      @@truthseeker4286 thank you for your opinion. But I find many layers in God's words..and the previous verse adds more context in that He says "learn of me".. and "ye shall find rest unto your souls" Bless you.

    • @kurtiszobell7799
      @kurtiszobell7799 Місяць тому +1

      @Hgwells159 This is interesting, my perspective. Unlike the truth is that Christ could possibly see it this way in that with all light and truth, it is truly freeing liberating and immensely gratifying. Simultaneously, that light and truth, this seize everything in, and through us about our souls, and the very essence of her being
      And yet the spirit can speak to us and our mortal minds just throw up barricades one after the other he's trying to bless us and we prevent that through our own ineptitude or ignorance. That wouldn't be extremely frustrating. Especially from the savior standpoint around there he died for us. He wants and knows what's the best for us. And yet we prevent him from allowing that.

    "I don't want you to listen to me"
    ..As always he's extending an invitation to act in faith. He knows this basic truth:
    What you need the most he can't give / it should comes from above.
    My love for David A. Bednar is not a fruit of his words, it has come from above through the power and gift of the Holy Ghost who is a revelator. I love him and receive this apostle of the Lord because I recognize the voice of my Good Shepherd!!

    I am sure the transition was what it needed to be, but you blew it with the livestock center! The guy in charge was an amazing man. He knew more about livestock and farming than any stupid degree could have taught, He had lived it for real. I do appreciate Elder Bednar, no disrespect, but some good people were hurt in the transition, and for reasons I do not feel were inspired. Or maybe they were, maybe their lives were uplifted, that was God's way of helping them move on. I just know the one guy, and he was the best teacher I have ever had, even if he didn't have an actual degree.

    Elder Bednars first powerful statement. Now you can copy it and put it next to Mosiah 3:19. You’re welcome.
    I’m assuming that all of you are members of the church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints and if you don’t like change, I recommend you join another church. I’m not trying to be silly or sarcastic. We are to come unto the savior. We follow him and we are to be born again. We are to experience the mighty change of heart. Repentance is change. learning in education produces change. Our mortal experience is to not remain the same. often times people will say, “well just leave me alone I like the way things are.”
    Well god doesn’t like things the way they are in us.
    I’m not saying that in a negative way. It’s not that he’s unhappy, but we are not here in this mortal existence to just stay the same so we’re blessed with remarkable spiritual gifts. The restoration of gospel teaches us our eternal purpose and destinyAnd you don’t achieve that destiny by just hunkering down and staying the same . The natural man and the natural woman hates change the man and woman of Christ learns to love change, and the lessons learned in the process, so I think that’s one of the fundamental Aspects of overcoming the man in the natural woman is not resisting change, but embracing change and learning from it. “

    Keep your feet moving as you see around the corner. Rely on the Lord as you keep moving. Line upon line, precept by precept.
    Living in revelation as we simply press forward as trying to be good with God and our covenants.
    Ask in faith and we will be guiding in a way that you don't even notice.
    These words are a reassurance that the Lord is in every detail of our lives.

    Elder Maxwell , also, shared about start carving , making some chips , as we have to start somewhere ‘out of small things (dc 64.33,34)’ whether we call it line upon line (dc 128.21) we have to give (Lk 6.38) forth initiative (Rev 3.20, dc 58.26-28) or else the powers of darkness will try to infiltrate & act upon us (2 Ne 2.13,14).
    Far better to chase darkness away (dc 50.25) by seeking after EVERY good thing (Moroni 7.19), aLwaYs (dc 20.77,79) to live in the spirit (1 Cor 10.2,3) of revelation - the natural inheritance of the righteous

    So please… how do you discern when self preservation becomes selfishness? Or vice-versa. I am a returned missionary, a gospel doctrine teacher, have raised five children (two of whom are adopted with special needs) and am a widow of 6 years. I have also spent a lifetime dealing with a certain mental illness. I have put safeguards into place under the direction of the Spirit (medical, situational and physical) that have all collapsed in one way or another this past year. I currently face decisions which not only affect me but affect twin 20 year-olds in a dramatic fashion. I have searched; I have fasted; I have counseled and I have prayed mightily.
    Yet still I struggle. Am I damning someone else by my selfishness or at what point do I understand what is also self preservation?

      I truly where you are coming from. I sympathize with you.
      Have faith in Heavenly Father. He knew all the choices you were going to make before you were even born. He has already set in place a "cushion" for you when you make those choices.
      Think of the prophets of old, they had no plans or thought of where they were going to sleep that night, what they will eat, who they would encounter let alone where they were going. They just picked a direction and Heavenly Father would sent His Angels to redirect them on their journey or before their journey.
      I remember a story of a prophet who showed up to a lady and asked for bread. The lady stated that she only had a handful of flour and enough oil to make one little slice of bread for both herself and her son to eat and then they were going to await their death.
      The prophet told her to feed him first and then she can make herself and her son as much bread she like.
      So she used her last ingredient to make him the bread. The prophet ate and told her that she will never run out of oil and flour til the famine is over.
      The woman was so shocked to see that she never ran out of flour or oil. The woman fed herself, her son, other family and friends. They never hungered throughout the famine.
      I believe the point of this remarkable story is, FAITH. She MADE a choice to feed someone else instead of herself and her son. God Blessed her. He knows she was struggling, He knows her heart. So He sent His prophet to her.
      What I am saying is, walk in faith. God knows the choices you were going to make and He will help you. Just have Faith in Him.
      I hope this helps

      @debbiebarton9062 20 днів тому

      God gives us the spirit of love hope and faith not fear. He is able to do His own work. It doesn’t all rest on our shoulders.
      Keep waiting and leaning with your trust in Him. He will lead us along. The struggle is for our good where weaknesses can become strengths. We are commanded to love others as ourselves not above ourselves.
      Self preservation is doing things that are good for your health. Holding fast to the word of God and eliminating the things that offend the spirit are key to our spiritual survival.
      Selfishness is doing things that are not good for you/ for your soul but driven by the natural carnal desires. Maybe think about the underlying motivations and give yourself grace as you are learning. God looks at weakness different than rebellion.
      He gives us weakness that we may be humble and offers sufficient grace when we can find humility to walk not in our own strength but yoked to Christs atoning power…
      I like what Elder Bednar said toward the end…
      “think of being yolked and now walking with him
      that to me is a glorious image of knowing that we are never alone we have the companionship of the Holy Ghost but
      we are also yoked to and with the resurrected and the living Christ by covenant”

    ❤ In my experience and observation God uses the least amount of "spiritual input" neccessary. Laman and Lemuel were visited by an angel, dramatically and sternly at that while they were beating nephi in a cave outside of Jerusalem. I would call that significant, but did it work? God is pleased to guide you with small reminders and nudges. As you live by faith these reminders and nudges become more apparent and recognizable. You also will begin to recognize ministering Angels helping. Not with your eyes but with your heart. This takes diligence through years beginning with repentance.

    I was hoping Elder Bednar was going to share some examples of revelations, whilst also explaining the mechanics. Some great ideas and nice thoughts but I was hoping for some actual examples. Any recommendations for other good revelation talks that have personal experiences? I've read the scriptures quite a lot (all standard works), and have had many spiritual experiences throughout my life. I usually understand spiritual things quite well, but am interested in learning more. (I'm just sharing something so I'm not just making demands lol). My standard recommendation regarding spiritual experiences is for people to not believe they'll never have them, even if they haven't yet. The 2nd part of my recommendation includes being ready with questions for when they do have a spiritual experience. In other words, when a spiritual experience occurs I recommend being ready to tag a whole set of questions on to the end. I don't think that necessarily occurs to someone in the moment so it's helpful being ready beforehand. For example, if someone has a dream or vision seeing God or Jesus I recommend having all the questions ready to ask. It's my understanding people experience spiritual things in different ways so I'm always eager to hear or read about different experiences.

    I understand the point of saying if it's a good thing to not worry if it's the Spirit prompting you, but it often feels like this misses the point of the question. I don't think most people are talking about getting a prompting to pray and trying to figure out if it's from God or not. It's the bigger questions that have us questioning things. It's the Captain Moroni asking Alma where to position his armies kind of questions. There is nothing objectively good or righteous about positioning his army in one place versus another. He needs the Lord to tell him how to best protect his people. There is nothing objectively good or righteous when comparing moving my family across the country for a job versus staying where I am. I need the Lord to tell me what is best for my family and for His work. That's where people are getting confused about whether an answer is from the Lord or from their own desires. Does the Lord really want my family across the country, or am I just sick of my job and willing to find an answer in the first solution that arises?

      I have wrestled with similar questions for years and haven’t received a firm answer in regards to career, job, and so forth. Sometimes I think that in those cases the Lord is saying it’s up to you. He wants us to decide what we want to do. For me I’ve chosen stability to maintain an income and provide for my family rather than taking a risk. If it was a case of our lives being threatened like the Moroni case, than maybe we would get the specific answer, but that’s not super common.

      I think his answer helps by eliminating doubt in other kinds of questions. But you are right, I struggle with those life changes too. I recently read the book Heart of the Matter by President Nelson and he talks about this kind of decision. It was very helpful because we were in the middle of making a job move. I believe that his other teaching on balance answers that, you know, looking at what needs to be accomplished at that very moment. We recently made a career decision for my husband based on what was the thing we needed to prioritize. We have 4 children ranging from baby to 14. We figured from our experience that elementary school is a time when family life is the most important and that would not change if we moved. However, I thought of what I wanted from my 14-year-old daughter and we made the decision based on her needs because we felt that she is facing a pivotal moment in her life. Whatever other goals we had need to come second to this most important opportunity for her to shape her character into the adult the Lord wants her to become. So I think we have a great insight if we put those two answers together 1- do what is right, 2 - focus on what needs to be done at this time

      I’ve had those similar questions. I think Elder Bernard’s comment of “living in such a way that allows me to have confidence in God while acting” has been the most impact in my life. I’ve changed my perspective on decision making (like your questions about jobs and moving) in that at times, I believe the Lord needs me to just make a decision and act. Living in revelation for me has been more of trusting that the Lord is with me. Knowing that He will tell me when something is wrong, and that He will help me get out of a bad situation when they arrive. I’ve learned to lean less on the ability to make right choices and lean heavily on “God is with me” so it doesn’t matter. Be good, do good and the Lord is with you and be free of not worrying about bad circumstances or “wrong decisions.” All experiences will work together for your good, even the experiences you don’t want.. lol. God bless.

      Also, Elder Scott said something along the lines of if you ask and don't receive an answer, it means the Lord is trusting you to make that decision and would stop you and let you know if something you are doing is wrong.

    For sure, the church is changing too. Just look at what Brigham taught and now what Nelson teaches. You gotta go with the flow.

    … concerning the Twelve Apostles of the Lamb.
    Behold, vengeance cometh speedily upon the inhabitants of the earth, a day of wrath, a day of burning, a day of desolation, of weeping, of mourning, and of lamentation; and as a whirlwind it shall come upon all the face of the earth, saith the Lord.
    And upon my house shall it begin, and from my house shall it go forth, saith the Lord;
    First among those among you, saith the Lord, who have professed to know my name and have not known me, and have blasphemed against me in the midst of my house, saith the Lord. (D&C 112:24-26)
    Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,
    Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;
    Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.
    …that he might be revealed in his time. (2 Thessalonians 2:1, 3-4, 6, 7)
    While that man, who was called of God and appointed, that putteth forth his hand to steady the ark of God, shall fall by the shaft of death, like as a tree that is smitten by the vivid shaft of lightning. (D&C 85:8)
