Notice you reel into em with the rod pointing up river with more of an aggressive reel vs hookset. Is this an intended move due to the physics of line on the water and how that leader acts at the fish level? (I imagine it pulling sideways across the fishes mouth when you do that) Wonderin ur thoughts.. I usually hook set facing down river thinking im getting a better angle straight into “meat” vs pulling up and away from it.
You’re a deep thinker Dan! And I appreciate it! This is an old video, filmed in 2019, so I had to rewatch it to remember what methods I was using. I remembered the jig fish in the GDB hole, how could I forget?! We still call it that BTW. 😁 You’re definitely correct, I do go rod tip upstream for float and spinner fishing. My thought is using the pull to the river to set the hook rather than the bass master hook set. I do think I do more of an upward sweep when drift fishing though. That was a fun day! I wish I had chosen better music though. That’s before I was using Epidemic, a subscription based royalty free music service. 😬
