Ive only seen 15 minutes of this show EVER... why i was completely turned off by it. HOW THE HELL can you live in New york city and ALL your friends are white... its not possible. Upstate NY but not NYC.

Perry had just finished having orthodontic surgery done in his mouth at the time and was in incredible pain when called to do this special. Because he didn't want to disappoint the others he attended and made the most of it, suffering with incredible pain through the whole thing. Everyone thought he was drunk because he was slurring his words but he wasn't. It's hard to judge him when he went through so much pain in his life, in spite of all the early success and wealth he enjoyed.
A surgery don't make you slur. RIP to Matthew but he was probably high off pills here. He himself said he was addicted to pills & alcohol

Come on folks. Perry's had a rough life. When you don't take care of yourself, it eventually shows. He's working hard to take care of himself now, and obviously the friends are looking out for him. Show some love and support and send it his way.

They revealed that he'd had emergency dental work done prior to filming and it wasn't possible to postpone the shoot. Poor guy now has everyone questioning if he's relapsed.
I'm glad THEY had this reunion. So sad we will never see another. May Matthew finally rest in peace from his demons. He deserves peace❤

Good to see Matt and David being little protective for Matthew, he have gone through so much in his life but these five guys always be with him and each other, love to see them again
Oh that moment is so sad but so heartwarming. Leblanc taking care of Matthew Perry, almost parental the way he speaks to him, such a very touching moment. The love shown there is tangible.
My heart goes out to the remaining friends cast who have to endure such pain at losing a member of their family.
For me, Matthew Perry's legacy isn't just the Friends tv show. It's the work he's done supporting alcoholics and addicts, changing and saving lives. There are people walking round today that wouldn't be here if it wasn't for him. That's an enduring legacy that means so much.
Rest in peace, good sir. An incredible man with a painful journey, taken too soon.
Beautiful comment, I totally agree. He managed to let him know he was on camera without shaming, chastising or embarrassing him. It's very sad about his addictions and that he's passed away. I think he was much loved by his castmates, they seem more like brothers than colleagues.

@@T_WC123what?! Wasn’t acting bizarrely if you knew anything about tv. He thought they were doing a close up of David, and that he wasn’t being seen. He was trying to get people to shut up on set (something a PA should be doing) because it should be quiet while filming. Set etiquette 101.
He had dental surgery, he was in pain because he refused the pain meds offered to him. They filmed THIS interview the same exact day they show the rest of the reunion (hence wearing the same exact clothes).
Matt covering his best friend here with genuine love is exactly why the new Top Gear didn’t take off. He is so much more relaxed on camera with his mates and you can’t fake decades of friendship.

I love them all but Matthew Perry has a special place in my heart. To know what he’s been through and to pull himself through that is absolutely incredible. 💕 He has given us all some great laughs over the years and to anyone complaining about his looks or speech, just be bloody thankful he’s there. People wonder why they’re hesitant to do these shows when all you do is make comments about their looks. They’re in their 50’s for goodness sake, of course they aren’t gonna look the same and neither will you at that age.
He showed up, as an addict, clearly intoxicated and you condemn people for noticing? Bizarre.
You know the misery involved in being an addict? You know the personal struggles this man has dealt with that lead to addiction?

I think it’s problematic that his “fans” were in denial about his intoxication. Let’s treat addiction like the real disease it is and when the signs of intoxication are showing, it is just a fact. It doesn’t help anyone to pretend that an addict isn’t intoxicated - that’s not admiration, that’s denial and it can be destructive. If you really care for someone’s wellbeing, it doesn’t help to pretend they aren’t struggling on a televised interview. Addiction is a real legitimate disease and should not be swept under the rug.

No, that’s delusional. These are three actors and Perry wasn’t sober, which required the others to respond, which they tried to do in a funny way that was so cringey because you can’t smooth over and addict showing up to work intoxicated. Slurred speech, repeating himself, losing track of the conversation, forgetting he was on camera, his posture and expressions, etc.

I now see why this show is/was incredibly successful. Their chemistry off screen is amazing. They genuinly like to make each other laugh, and know exactly how to do it with just a sentence lol. Just like real friends really.

I think he was not looking forward to this reunion. Most people know when you’re not looking so good, you’re extremely paranoid. I know I get worried about seeing old friends and not quite looking the same, but hell, we all age differently. Especially, 20 years ago.

I look at them and think 'Christ, this is depressing' and then I look in the mirror and it's even more depressing. My heart goes out to them all I hope they are happy.

Seeing Matthew Perry here is happy and sad. He looked like he had been through such a rough time, getting and staying sober. I can relate sadly. I looked younger than my age, until Heroin addiction. Because of an insane childhood, I suffered from anxiety and depression, The opioid pain medicine made everything understandable and blissful, and everything just made sense for once. From there, anytime someone had pain killers, I accepted, then after BigPharma got everyone hooked, the government cracked down on painkillers, which made Heroine, also an Opiate, very popular. From there, the country just took to it and the problem grew.

He doesn’t look very well in himself but he’s alive, healthy somewhat and he’s sober and that’s what counts.
What he’s been through and the demons he’s battled and to come out the other end, it’s inspiring to so many addicts to keep fighting to get sober.
Obviously that nightmare will have aged him, and that’s okay because that’s not what matters.

Yeah, I agree. Look, there have been good sitcoms since, some even really enjoyable, but comparing all of them to Friends is like comparing a great player to one of the greats of all time. A show needs to have a great story, excellent ensemble cast, on point comedic timing, longevity, just so many things that made Friends great. Glad it's still so popular today

Wow. It’s incredible seeing Matthew here compared to today in 2022. In his book, he talks about being so sick and thinking “I can’t miss the reunion, so I’ll just show up and do the best I can.” You can totally tell Dave and Matt knew something was up, were concerned, and wanted to try and help his as best they could.
How was he different?
@@Faltor895 In the narration of his book, his speech returned very close to how it was before he was sick. At least in his writing and the sound of his voice, he seemed much more coherent, self aware, and in control of his life. Rewatching this video now that he’s gone is…sad :(
Matthew's delivery and timing were absolutely phenomenal, fkin amazing talent. I still watch the show to this day and laugh my balls off 😂 I hope he realises (as well as the rest of the cast) how much they've helped people who were down and just needed some comedy or lifting up in their lives

I think it's a bit disrespectful to comment on Matthew Perry's health and appearence based on these short clips. He said he wasn't aware that they're filming all 3 of them all the time, which is most likely why you all think he has such a "zoomed out" look. When we think we're not being watched, we probably all have some sort of angry or tired-looking face.

@@nickrobinson7096 As a fan myself, I understand he has health issues but I do not expect him to talk about it and acknowledge it because it's something very personal. I'm just happy this reunion is happening.
@sugos y Who said he's drunk? He's not drunk. He's just unwell and his previous drug addiction caught up to him now that he's older. Also how did he act unprofessional? He stated several times that he didn't know he was on camera, that's a simple mistake that can happen to anyone. You're being too harsh.
@sugos y There are other A-list celebrities out there who have been unprofessional and have acted inappropriately (those celebs didn't have health issues) and people somehow don't mind that, the hypocrisy. This was simply a common mistake by Perry. Let's just agree to disagree.

Who's denying that he's unwell? and yes, it is sad but why is that in the focus? This is about the reunion and we don't know what he's going through and don't have the right to "demand" an explanation from him as it was stated in the comment above. I didn't find him unprofessional in this video, he didn't do anything innapropirate, he didn't walk out, he answered the questions and didn't walk in drunk stumbling all over the place.

Playing with the bones and brain dead lol. Chemistry like this is hard to find but comes when people are loyal for ten years and stick by each other. Love the protective nature they have over Matt. Thats really beautiful. Im sure they all have fond memories of him, those will never go. Friends is a show that is celebrated by every generation existing right now.
I hope people struggling get the help they need now and some sort of foundation is set up in Matt's name.❤
