    When mongolians took over some of the muslims countries they captured muslims and christians, when he was negotiating the release of the captured, he insisted that christians to be released first. When he was asked why, by the mongolian emperor, he said: "They are our citizens and are under our protection"

    I m half way down the work of Dr Hoover on ibn taymiyyahs theodicy of perpetual optimism. All i can say is I have never seen a genius on the level of ibn taymiyyah (rh) till date. Its just mindblowing. His caliber as theologian is almost unmatched. Not to mention he is a giant figure in Tafsir, Hadith science and Fiqh.
    Truly the person deserve the title of Shaikh al Islam.

      Well done man. you capture the figure if Ibn Taymiy very well. I am more fascinated in his work in logic. The man was brilliant. He is of the caliber of Godel easily.

    • @syedahmedshaheer117
      @syedahmedshaheer117 8 років тому +21

      true, IT is Godel of 13 th cen when it comes to logic and rhetoric.
      That alone makes him awesome. However, he didnt limit his work to that only. He worked extensively in Quran s tafsir (his work Principles of Tafsir) Hadith, and fiqh.
      His major few students were Ibn kathir (tafsir specialist), Ad Dhahabi (One of the biggest figure in haidith science in sunni school), Ibn Mufith(one of the biggest fiqh expert in Hanbali school) and his magnum opus student Ibn Qayyim who worked on theology logic and fiqh and is tremendously well known for that.
      More I study this guy more i get baffled.

      @syed ahmed: Ibn Taymiyyah affirmed limits, size and spatial characteristics to Allah (swt) and justified this heresy through kalam based on crude "logic". This is nothing but acts of sheer disbelief and innovation. His books remain a cancerous tumor upon the ummah. He followed his own whims and attributed them to the Salaf in spite of scriptural evidence to the contrary.

    • @abdallah2018
      @abdallah2018 7 років тому +6

      @syed ahmed
      "To summarize the issue of hadd (limit) in relation to Allaah, Ibn Taymiyyah underlined in his books Dar' At-Ta‘aarudh and Bayaan Talbees Al-Jahmiyyah that Allaah is beyond the limits that we know but has a limit that only He knows."
      This is a reprehensible bidah in matters of aqeeda wich constitutes unbelief. No salaf or prophet ever said this. whoever subscribes to this belief leaves the fold of islam. Do not be taken in by Ibn Taymiyyahs eloquence and impressive memory, his beliefs are the worst plague to ever infest the ummah of islam.

    True. Actually if Ibn Taymiyyah was alive today he would denounce Osama Bin Laden ideology. Osama bin laden quotes the things he need and ignores the ideas that opposes him. For example, Ibn Taymiyyah wrote a lot against Khawarej ideology and the necessity of obedience to the rulers of Islam for the benefit of the public even if they have some downfalls. He also wrote a lot about criteria for Takfir. Which is all against the ideology of Osama bin Laden.

    HAD IBN TAYMIYYAH (died 1328 CE) BEEN LIVING TODAY
    , Ibn Taymiyyah says at the beginning of his Manaqib al-Sham wa Ahlih (Virtues of al-Sham and Its People), explaining his reason for composing the treatise in the midst of events of the years 700-702 H, when Damascus was successfully defended against the ravaging Mongol army that had sacked Baghdad and was aiming for the holy cities of Makkah and Madinah in order to deal a fatal blow to Islam itself, “There are many virtues of al- Sham and its people established by the Book, the Sunnah and the traditions of the people of knowledge, and this is one of the things I relied upon in my encouraging the Muslims to fight the Tatars, my order to them to remain in Damascus, my forbidding them from fleeing to Egypt, and my inviting the Egyptian military to Syria and consolidating the Syrian military already there …”
    Ibn Taymiyyah ends the treatise thus, “Indeed, the fulfillment of these Prophetic texts became apparent in the most complete manner during our Jihad against the Tatars. Allah manifested for the Muslims the truth of that which we had promised them, and the barakah of that with which we had commanded them. This was a magnificent victory, the like of which the Muslims had not seen [in that age]: the imposing edifice of the Tatar kingdom, that had humiliated the people of Islam, was never routed or defeated the way it was defeated at the gate of Damascus in the great battle [of Shaqhab] during which Allah showered upon us so many of His favors that we cannot enumerate them, neither generally nor specifically.”
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    IBN TAYMIYYAH WOULD NOT HAVE ALLOWED SYRIANS MASS EXODUS.

      Ibn Taymiyyah wrote close to 30 books on Tassawwuf/Sufism.
      "...some people criticised Sufiyya and Tasawwuf and they said they were innovators, out of the Sunnah, but the truth is they are striving in Allah's obedience [mujtahidin fi ta'at-illahi], as others of Allah's People strove in Allah's obedience. So from them you will find the Foremost in Nearness by virtue of his striving [as-saabiq ul-muqarrab bi hasab ijtihadihi]. And some of them are from the People of the Right hand [Ahl al-Yameen mentioned in Qur'an in Sura Waqi'ah], but slower in their progress.... And this is the origin of Tasawwuf. And after that origin, it has been spread and [tasha'abat wa tanawa'at] has its main line and its branches.
      [Majmu'a Fatawa Ibn Taymiyya al-Kubra, Vol. 11, Book of Tasawwuf, p. 497].
      "The miracles of saints are absolutely true and correct, by the acceptance of all Muslim scholars. And the Qur'an has pointed to it in different places, and the Hadith of the Prophet (s) has mentioned it, and whoever denies the miraculous power of saints are only people who are innovators and their followers." [al-Mukhtasar al-Fatawa, page 603]. Ibn Taymiyya says, "what is considered as a miracle for a saint is that sometimes the saint might hear something that others do not hear and they might see something that others do not see, while not in a sleeping state, but in a wakened state of vision. And he can know something that others cannot know, through revelation or inspiration."

He’s studied the life of Imam Ibn Taymiyyah , his major works cover to cover! I am in oxford myself doing my PhD and I can personally attest to this since I met him in person and even quizzed him in deeper issues that Ibn Taymiyyah Rahimhullah discusses and that of his student respectfully disagreed with with the likes on Imam Ibn Kathir, Ibn Qayyum Al-Jawzi, Imam Addahabi Rahimahullah Jami’an. ! AFAIK there are 1-2 entire volumes in the Maj'mua al Fatawa dedicated to tassawuf or "Sufism". The issue is complicated with regard to logic, Ibn Taymiyyah has giant books to respond to logic, and he has greatly developed rational arguments and linked them to the Qur’an and Sunnah, and logic is a word that has several meanings, so we must specify which part we are talking about.

    You have totally MISUNDERSTOOD Sheikhul Islam ibn Taymia and that's because you dont know Arabic and therefore dont have proper access to his books!! Ibn Taymia رحمه الله and Ahlus Sunnah believe that Allah created Good and Evil and gave man the free will to choose between doing either, whilst strongly prohibiting mankind from any evil hence Evil cannot be attributed to Allah at all! Infact Allah created all actions but warned those committing evil of severe punishment in this world or the next! Evil exists due to divine wisdom but in no way can it be attributed to God Almighty because he has clearly outlawed all of it! So no our understanding is nothing like the Jews or Christians because our narrative actually makes sense! God Almighty has given us the choice between good and evil and when evil becomes the accepted norm he has punished nations with natural disasters and plagues and the innocents caught up were told not to live amongst such evil but didn't listen! God Almighty sent messengers to us and calamities befell them as a test from God Almighty and as a lesson to us on how to grin and bear hardship because being tested is part of faith and so being sick feels evil to us but it's a test of our faith and a chance to draw near to God Almighty and repent and so such tests can actually be a blessing in disguise. What's more he has commanded us to stay clear of harm and protect ourselves from it and from others and that's because some harms must exist to complete the balance of this world! Bees can kill us but their honey is a tasty cure for us and the food chain exists because everything was created in wisdom the venomous and the predators all exist in a balance! I think you need to re-read his works in Arabic...

    many scholars spoke out against ibn taymiyyah (ra) at that time. the same is true of Usama bin Laden (ra) and the Mujahideen today. that is a very important and undeniable connection between men who are upon the same manhaj (remember that Ibn Taymiyyah ra fought against the rulers of his time, even though those rulers - the taters - claimed to be Muslim).
