Lovely video... I have this monitor. I'm wondering if there's a way I can copy out the inbuilt 3D luts from the monitor, do you have any idea if it's possible? I'll like to have the luts to use directly on my camera. Thanks
Hey Scott, thanks for the awesome review. I wonder if you could tell me when applying lut in this monitor, are the scopes and zebra values read before or after the lut? Thanks!
VERY thorough review! thank you for the effort and the sharing. i really need an external monitor and the tool set available on the Osees seem great. of course, i wish they were just a tad cheaper but that is the constant want of us indie media makers. stay well. i am an appreciative subscriber. thumbs up.
Glad it was helpful! It's definitely an incredible monitor... and there are cheaper options but after using the T7 and seeing the benefit of their UI and assist features it's hard to go back to anything else haha. That was the reason I wanted the T5 so I didn't have to use any other different UI when I wanted a smaller monitor haha. I think from a $100-150 monitor going up to the $200 for the T5, there is a BIG jump in the level of pro features you get, and then from there on up it's more subtle or specialized things you get for higher prices like brightness or build quality. This feels like a really happy middle ground :)
The T5 is a little dim for outdoor use. With the sun shade it can work but something 1500 nit or more would be ideal. Shooting 4k 60 should also be ok since most cameras will output a lower resolution or frame rate over the HDMI anyway.
Hi Scott! Thanks for the great review as usual. I was leaning towards this monitor until I found your review of the Portkeys P6 and now I'm torn between the two. Being both at the same price now, which of them would you recommend?
Personally, I find that speed of the page layout for the Osee operating system makes it the better choice. Portkeys is great it its own ways for sure, but I always love working with Osee monitors.
Ive never used a NPF battery.. any suggestions on some good brands on amazon that would be safe to use?.. is the larger numbers mean just bigger battery? thanks in advanced! :)
Would you get the T5 or T7? I only do a few shoots a year (mostly weddings that are indoor and outdoors). I have 0 NP-F batteries, but a dozen LP-E6 batteries. It needs to be visible outdoors in bright conditions with or without a sunhood on. Please help!
If you need it visible outdoors, T5 is the only way to go. And it will do a great job. 3rd party NP-F batteries are pretty cheap to come by, grab a handful in the medium size and it's not TOO much bulk but will last a reasonable amount of time.
It’s not overly bright of course but it is an HD resolution on a fairly small monitor so I found it to be sharp and with nice color and contrast. :) cheers!
Yep! The monitors are the same, just branded differently. I think they merged at some point or one company bought the other but they are both still marketing themselves independently as well.
Hey sorry I couldn't get back to you sooner- don't have it on me at the moment but I saw this comment on Facebook too and saw it was answered by Osee, was that you?
The Portkeys is not bad at all, but I'd personally choose this. I love the way the interface works, no deep menu diving to find functions and no being limited to 4 custom functions. Once I get my pages set up I never have to push the joystick more than once at a time and I can swap between like 5 custom functions on one page and 5 totally different functions on another. Super useful. The buttons to navigate the menu on the P6 are actually weirdly awkward too- I always end up pressing the wrong buttons somehow. I think it's related to how they're labeled and also the way they're organized compared to most monitors. Build quality is similar between them more or less I think. I also prefer the false color on the Osee and their focus peaking/focus assist is a little better too, for me at least.
Thanks for the review! I wish they had the high-bright 3000-nits available in the smaller 5" form-factor!
Hopefully something like that could be coming! :)

Mine didn’t come with a battery? The description doesn’t have it linked? Where to buy?

Great review! Can you see the picture when shooting outside with the sun hood? How about shooting 4K 60? Thanks

So....my question is. I have a gh5. Do i have to buy another HDMI cable to HDMI cable the big ones, or are the cables that come in the box are good?
How do you view the battery meter?

@@ScottDumas dont you mean t7 since it's 3000 nits?
Is the actual screen/image quality good? Cheers, thinking to get this one.

Which type of dummy battery output does the osee have? i used the dummy battery i used for my feelworld and it didn’t fit in
Is this the same brand with SWIT? Because this monitor look like the same with the Swit 55C.

Thanks for the tutorial very thorough
How's the latency/lag with this monitor for your taste?
For me it's no problem... average compared to almost any other monitor, especially using HDMI.
does the osee t5 by oass the recording limit on cameras?
im only trying to get a monior to bypass the 30 min recording to shoot a podcast.
Please make a comparison video with Portkeys P6
If you don't mind having a look, what are the exact dimensions of the screen? :)

@@ScottDumas Yep, that was me. Thanks for your reply 🙂
Great, thank you 👑
Thank you for watching! :)

Scott Dumas thanks for sharing your experience between the two monitors!
