      A trick to make the non-respirator masks fit tightly is using 3 rubber-bands tied together. The middle one presses against your face and makes the mask fit much, much better, while the other 2 loop around your ears.

    Excellent video. Was just discussing these options earlier. It is kinda funny that you brought up the fact that if someone isn’t wearing a mask now, they are the one’s being looked at sideways instead of the other way around. To all the people who were wearing masks before that was mandated, I applaud you for being proactive & not paranoid or crazy. Those were the people really using their noggin!

      Same. I considered getting a proper mask with at least the two side filters for when I work with sprays and sanding but didn't do that stuff often enough to feel it was worth the investment. At least I know how to sew and have lots of cotton fabric so I can make the masks and get the filti to put inside.

    So very important detail that I didn't here covered in this. Maybe I just didn't here you talk about it, but the question is: Does it protect other people from your exhale or does it protect you from other peoples exhalents? Or both? Some masks only protect other people from you but do not protect you from others. Maybe you or someone else can address that question? Thanks

    • @DropForgedSurvival
      @DropForgedSurvival  4 роки тому +2

      I understand why you feel that is important. To some you think it should. But the real important topic is how do we put masks on EVERYONE and that question becomes irrelevant. Because everyone is wearing protection

    • @samuelalley7331
      @samuelalley7331 4 роки тому +4

      @@DropForgedSurvival It is important. I want to be gracious and kind as I am a subscriber and value your content, but I think that is a very important piece of information. Maybe the most important of all. Your presenting your diy mask as comprable to the N95 mask. The N95 mask protects you as well as those around you, but a standard dust mask only protects others. At the very least, people should know what the mask they have on their face is capable of doing. I agree with you that some protection is better than none, but the reality is you will not get everyone to wear a mask. That is called reality. Maybe just a simple answer to the question would have surficed. Either the mask protects the individual wearing it or it doesn't. Super simple question. God bless and no worries, I will remain a subscriber; I ain't mad atcha.

    • @DropForgedSurvival
      @DropForgedSurvival  4 роки тому +1

      That is fair. I understand. The Bigger respirators do only protect the user not folks around them. If someone is sick 😷. Stay home or wear an N99 mask

  • @demonitized1020
    @demonitized1020 3 роки тому

    When cleaning n95 masks or the homemade n95 masks don’t use alcohol or some kind of liquid spray. This damages the material and makes it less effective, it also destroys the mask over time. Instead leave it in a hot car for a few hours.

    Did anyone read the disclaimer on the Filti material? Not sure I would spend the extra cash for something that does the same thing as a cheap mask.

      Im treating as “reuseable” under the method of safely storing it for 8-10days and the sterilizing in the direct sun for 60 minutes before reuse.
