Hello Chris, I'm a kid, I prep, I've invested all my money into prepping I had about 5 bottles of hand sanitizer in my survival bag, who's laughing now, if I had to bug in I would pick my man cave aka garage, I have all my prepping items in there, like card games and flashlights and in my backyards I have about 90 gallons of water in a barrel. I have seed bank with thousands of non-gmo, and non-hybrid seeds. If the world really goes to shit that's going to be the new currency or at least one of them.
Despite what bloomberg says, being a farmer isnt actually that simple. 90% of people who buy seeds for survival wont see any meaningful return on the plan. Youre better off ensuring that the people who DO know are protected and equipped to do their jobs.
@Drop Forged Survival, I think a few things you are missing meds-wise, is you should have Benadryl, for allergies and allergic reactions, and Elderberry ( syrup, gummies ,etc!) It is used world wide for the flu, or fevers, and works so quickly! I am so surprised it is not more well known here in the U.S. Also, things for nausea...ginger, or ginger tea. Works insntantaneously!! These things I have in my house at ALL TIMES!
Sorry that I’m late to the Prepper party, but wanted to pass along a great tip from someone who is an experienced cat owner. A much better and cheaper option to cat litter is pine pellets that are sold as horse bedding. I’m sure this option would work in this situation as well, and they’re compostable. Literally $5-$6 for a 40lb bag!
Dont ignore your gut feeling. Might want to keep prepping since you've only been doing it a yr. I've been prepping since 2011 and still don't have everything I would need in a collapse. Good luck to you and yours
I want to thank you for your video because they are all very much in a positive tone. I have watched a few others and it’s all in a serious and dire tone that gives off an anxious feeling. You give serious tips for serious situations but in a fantastically friendly tone that makes me continue to want to watch you. Thank you for all your advice and stay safe out there.
The important thing to me is helping others as I learn or have learned in the past... It should never be about fear but intelligent well executed planning.
A cheap solar option we have in Australia is alot of camping places sell large 250w solar panels that charge at around 9amps-11amps. You get on of those and a battery box with a deep cycle battery in it. You can get really efficient 12v fridge/ freezers, plug an inverter to it if you 240v for regular home appliances. 12v led lights are easy to hook up aswell
I dont know if I would consider myself a "prepper" but ive been ahead of the curve for a while now and with that being said there were a few things that stood out to me in this video that I really liked...👍👍👍
I've been flooded in on my remote rural property several times, so prepping for disastors is natural for us. I was ticking off the items on your video while I watched and was pleased that I got most of it right. I must admit though, I did overlook doing the laundry. However, I'm on an off grid solar system which has proven to be very reliable and I'm backed up by a reliable generator. Enjoy your informative and entertaining videos. Keep up the great work.
I have a ton of tinned tomatos and bottled passata in my pantry. Keeps for ages and so versatile. You can use it as a sauce for anything, just add herbs and salt. Also anchovies, dried stock cubes, and tomato paste.
If you have a savings account, health insurance, a 401k, 2 weeks of food in the house, or car insurance.... You are a prepper. But some are more socially acceptable than others. But not... Prepping is the cool thing for all Gen X and Gen Z’s to do now
@@DropForgedSurvival yeah I'm 90% there. Just the way I was raised. Got a lot of Polish family so I learned to fish and hunt, forage mushrooms, preserve food, damn, we love our pickles haha it's a good way to be. Toothpaste pink can be used as an image septic bandage for Burns and sunburns and scratches remember toothpaste is an antiseptic and it Seals against the skin to keep out bacterial and infections
Coconut oil is much better. It even cures cavities. I know from personal experience- hundreds of people testify to the same in the comments sections of videos on the subject.
I like to think of this as a extended hurricane event. Everything i need for a upcoming hurricane plus a little extra. Well make it thru. Good video stay safe
One thing that I would like to mention for the emergency toilet go to your local farm store and get white lime. Use a scooper, and after you have done you job, and cleaned, sprinkle a little white lime in the toilet. That will dry out whats left, and deodorize the toilet. Just a suggestion. Good job. Thanks for the info.
I've watched several of your videos now, and I like the tone. There's no panic, no sense of dread. I love it. Keep going. If there's one thing we learned from the pandemic it's to be prepared. I had a year's supply of everything until we were broken into while I was getting life-saving surgery. Lost everything, including our house. Been slowly rebuilding since. There's a few items in this video that I don't have. Thank you. Huge help.
Don't forget that canned vegetables are sometimes packed in necessary water. It's a good way to have a little extra water stored at the same time as food with the veggies.
I love your videos today me and my younger sister are going to the dollar store and we go a lot of things you got and we are so Excited to use it thank you for doing what you do.
Thanks for doing this video, I'm writing a list. I've been getting things for a "buy-out/in" for about 4 months now. I'm on a fixed budget so I get what I can when I can.
Sorry to say, but a bike will be be gone in 60 seconds even with you on the bike. You may last a few days with one but you will be scoped out so case of rum, case of rum (
I just tie a milk crate to my back seat or handle bars. Lerner this when I lived in Key West 30 years ago, they called them conch bikes and everyone had one. They would laugh at you if you had an actual bike basket. It is different there now 😢
I call bull sh**. Monopoly does NOT ease the tension... That's world war 3 waiting to happen. 😂 But really thank you for this video. It's very helpful in these crazy times. Especially since we were just hit with the largest earthquake since 1992 here. People are doubly freaked out and panic buying. Stay safe everyone. 👍 (I didn't skip the ads to show my thanks)
I've started prepping and your video reminded me of a couple things I don't currently have...thank you. Also a reminder to those who are new to prepping, to prep like you aren't going to have any power or running water for at least a week. I had already purchased the little camp stove mentioned in the video with extra cans of butane to heat food and boil water. Working on gathering other essential things now.
Thanks so much, I started prepping because during the winter storm here in Texas, the power went out and my 1 year old sister didn’t have a warm place to stay and none of our properties or families properties had any light. So I ended up paying an insane amount (along with my mom) so that my mother and my little sister could go stay in an AIRBNB 2 hours away from me and my apartment. Really opened my eyes to the need to one prepared for something as simple as the power grid going down for a couple days.
I understand what you mean... But this is time to share the message of prepping with non-preppers through calm logic and evidence based context. Not say "who is laughing now!!?" though humorous it helps no one in this situation.
@@DropForgedSurvival I guess some people are more social than others. I have no intention of helping anyone if this gets into apocalypse territory, and frankly, I don't want to help them right now, either. Look what they did to the supply chains. Nature needs to and will do its quality control sweeps and the longer we prolong it, the worse the sweeps will be. I will be there to TAKE the belongings off their corpses. And I will find a girl and we will have offspring. And we and whomever else survives will rebuild this world, hopefully better than it was before. Because, right now, we are doomed to go extinct. This version of civilization needs to DIE and everyone with an I.Q. under 110 needs to perish. Only then will we become an effective species. Only then will we take to the stars.
@@DropForgedSurvival Thank you, you're the only prepper ive seen who has this mentality. Everyone else is so quick to say theyd like to see someone who wasnt prepared starve with their family. Its sad there's little to no humanity these days. Hope u and your family stay safe
I do believe in natural selection and this planet needs to purge itself of A LOT of idiots that are destroying or not adding anything positive with their existence. Too many people sucking resources like they are limitless and leaving a huge footprint not caring about repercussions. The government has stepped in and made it too easy for the stupid, unproductive or just criminal people to exist, where before they would have been eliminated. Survival of the fittest or to me, the good and decent hardworking people and the others as would be in days gone by would perish. Truly people should be limited on offspring and not allowed to use them as paychecks and expect society to care for and raise them. Mandatory birth control, if you can’t show that you can’t care for them financially or put forth the energy and raise them to be contributing members of society. No free food, free money, free housing, free medical and they will think twice
I also put a kill switch . Not stealing my Jeeps . Had one stolen 4 years ago. Got it back but. I now have Deadman switch on them so if you don't know where it is. You are not starting my Jeeps.
I go for solar lights. Amazon, REI, Sport stores sell them. Compact, light weight and don't need batteries. A new model even can be uses as a USB charger.
I've been dying for a jackery to add to my preps, but even though I have it in favorites in my amazon, every time the super expensive thing pops up on lightning deal, its still too much for us on one income. Alot of what you touched on is perfect, specially the britas and other means of cooking. Many overlook this, I agree. Rock on! I'm a recent new sub to your content, Love being here. Thanks so much!
Or batteries. I have an old one that use both and ever time I think of getting rid I remember its duel purpose. People laugh on seeing me with but I least I would be able to hear what if anything that was available. I always have a lot of candles and firewood .
I'm from the UK and me and partner stocked up 2 weeks before the lock down happened because we forseen what would happen, got at least 2 months of food, but alot of people just bought stuff like pasta and rice but forgot about protein... And also yeah like you talked about, animal food.. We bought at least 6 weeks worth of wet food and 5kg of dry, people focused on themselves rather than their pets, plus the things that were always in stock and people would stick their noses up at were going out of stock which was annoying because it was alot of the things I eat
@@VictoriaNakaraKizer if you are asking for a "preserve for fuel" I would recommend stabil. You should be able to find it at Walmart or local places. For a good gas can that seals.... I'm not to sure.
I hav to say im in a number of stores a week for my job. And one of the things i was happy to see empty shelves was pet food. People were not forgetting their pets!!!! i definately prep for my 2 kitties very well for at least 2 plus yrs!!!! And of course food i can make for them if need be!!!! 💞💞💞💞😸😸
At any tractor supply you can buy the “Pine. wood pellets” kiln dried. It’s $6-$7 for a 40lb bag and use it as cat litter. You may want to try getting your kitty used to it before shtf. One bag can last 6 months. And for that price it’s an easy to stock up item. Just store it in a dry place. As kitty pees on it the pellets turn to saw dust that they also use to cover other messes they make in the litter box.
This is where prepping comes into play. Here in Sydney, Australia there has been brawls over toilet paper …………….. yes bloody toilet paper. Years ago I learned to buy extra items for day to day life, when I was on a fixed income. Yesterday, I had a call of need from a mate who wanted shaving crème. I gave him 2 cans of the 20 I had bought 6 months ago.
@@paulmoss7940 I just buy it when it was on special. Not about prepping when good old soap or hot water will do fine. Toilet Paper has become like gold as HOARDERS not preppers thought they would make a quick buck on the side - even the 1 ply generic stuff was hot property. I always keep a few of those hotel soaps as my emergency kits - free & do more than 1 job
And the price gouging has been mental. A place which normally sold a four pack for $2 was selling the same four pack for $6-8. I was so mad at that but had run out and had no choice.
I think if the lock down taught us anything it was the importance of still being able to celebrate birthdays, so I would have to birthday candles and cake mix. Maybe a few party poppers and a card.
This coronavirus pandemic is super "fun" for me, because I've got severe allergies that produce nearly identical symptoms to the stated ones of coronavirus, which have chosen now of all times to act up. So I get to added "enjoyment" of spending weeks on end with varying degrees of coronavirus-like symptoms, constantly tense as to whether I might've actually caught it.
I have bad acid reflux issues which affect my sinuses and also cause similar symptoms often. I feel you. Worry and anxiety affect your immune system, it has helped me to learn breathing/meditation techniques and try not to worry.
@@Valerie_3 That's a fantastic suggestion. I've always wanted to pick up meditation, but I've never gotten myself to do it consistently. I've definitely seen the good that even a couple of sessions has done me, so I guess this quarantine is a good chance to force myself to make a habit of it.
Try "Tapping". (Googe it or find it here, on UA-cam). It alleviates allergies and their symptoms, and directly calms your amygdala ('flight or flight' response; karate chop point), giving you a more objective and a clearer perspective of what your allergies are (less serious) vs the Corona virus, if/when it strikes you (most serious). Best of all... The "liver point" actually stimulates your immune system, directly, to become more active, helping your body to stop any viruses and the like, dead in their tracks.
One thing people seem to overlook (and I did until I saw it on another prepper channel) is a fondue pot (not electric, duh). You can warm up soup or milk for hot chocolate. Won't boil water, but it does heat up soups. Keep a boatload of tea candles or sterno fuel pods handy.
Same situation here in my town with all paper towels, toilet paper, cleaning supplies, and most canned and or non perishable food items as well as fresh food on top of there having to open stores an hour early for only seniors because they're unable to find anything on store shelves because of stingy people. Take only what you need guys, leave some for everyone be a good part of your community because you never know.
joe they are actually having senior hours to help them avoid the crowds. Less of a chance for them to catch the virus if they can shop without a crowd. I hope that makes sense. Sometimes when I type it doesn’t turn out the way it would if I had said it.
joe I went early with an elderly person here. And nothing had been stocked. I honestly think she thought I was just telling her that the store was out of everything she was sending me after. Cause she told me to come pick her up the next morning cause she was going to get her stuff. Lol. Gotta love our seniors. They are funny. Praying you stay safe & healthy
@@gottahavefaith2971 yeah there something else I'll tell you I know I always get a good laugh or a good story Everytime I'm around my grand parents aswell as my great granmother but I hope the same for you aswell I'm just getting my garden ready to go honestly waiting for whatever happens
joe I hope & pray your garden thrives. And I’m hoping my lil elderly friend will let me go alone to the store for her. Maybe I’m over protective but I just don’t really like her going to that store at all. I’d rather go alone so I don’t have to worry bout her getting sick. Enjoy your grandparents while you have them. Oddly enough, about 6 months ago is started putting a bit more food into the pantry mainly for economic hard times, i figured that so long as i can pay the mortgage and keep the power on if things got rough for a month or so i would get by. been on a few prepper type channels and also the gardening and wilderness cabin type channels. as an Australian living close to a fair sized regional center i though would be immune the the chaos and mayhem. watching folks line up to clean out the bucher's shop next to work for 3 day straight has been educational and not in a good way. i am understanding that yeap i have some gaps that will need addressing. the main one being TP, being single makes things much easier, i have a month of canned, long life and frozen food. and a small veggie garden that will soon expand i am thinking
Great video for all the people out there that are just starting to prep. Where I live here in Florida shelves still pretty bare on all products! All stores have adjusted their hours. Went down to Publix yesterday morning when they opened at 8:00 a.m. and there was probably a 100 people in line waiting to get in!! All I was going for was milk so I went across the street to 711. I do have powdered milk in my food storage, but saving that until I can't get regular milk. It's getting crazy out there people prepare now!
IF you can't afford a portable camping potty, which is short and uncomfortable to sit on, you can buy a large plastic bowl from Dollar Tree, place a cup of water in it and place it under your toilet seat then put the seat down. It fits perfectly. Or buy a toilet "hat" from a pharmacy, i.e. Walgreens, or a medical supply store, for $6.00. I bought a used 50-gallon plastic drum for $20 to discard the poop. You can use a wide mouth canning funnel to dump the poop into the drum. Pee can be disposed of in your yard or plastic bottles.
I have a background in biology and I'd argue that the risk of getting infected by SARS-CoV2 through tab water is basically zero, and there's no indication that the water supply will fail in any 1st world country. Same thing with electricity. What you should actually avoid are, well, crowded shops.
Alias Anybody great. If you have a swimming pool with with a chlorine generator stock up on salt. If you’re on a city water supply store clean water. The people who listened to guys like you a month ago are the ones who are ill prepared today
As of Aug 2021, this video is even More relevant than when you made it a year ago. Wish I had a washer thingy like that 20 yrs ago. The laundry facilities in Apartments cost Way too much and often times are janky.
Great video! By the way, I saw you were processing cauliflower at 4:30. A good recipe I make is I process cauliflower down to grit size then boil it and then put some butter and bacon bits in it for a grit substitute if you are staying away from grits. Pretty good!
I've always been glad not living in a big city, even more now. I feel bad for people stuck in small apartments especially with kids. I was sure to get plenty of pet food, and I definitely remember to get OTC meds way before all this
12:21 In the circumstances, having a stockpile of acetaminophen/paracetamol might be important too because ibuprofen is known to worsen symptoms of COVID-19.
If you anticipate a potential power outage and rely on a grid connected pump for water you can fill a few 5 gallon buckets with water ahead of time and use that water to manually fill your toilet tank and then use it to flush your toilet
Hey there. Just wanted to introduce myself, I’m Keith and we live in the same city in Texas. I’m also about 90% certain that we use the same HEB. Lol. Hit me up if you want to work together on some preparations or emergency planning. I have a decent little prep but I don’t know any mother preppers and have no real “tribe” to help out or fall back on if things got really bad.
If water gets contaminated we boil it. Where it gets tricky is Cyanotoxin from algae blooms if the water is from lake or river. Then you need drinking water. Boiling increases the toxins.
I think people should be hooking up cb radios in the vehicle and for in home use! Those old 40 channel emergency radios are great. And if possible a ham radio. Some communication is better then non if the cell phone network goes down.
@@DropForgedSurvival People should be pulling out there old cb radios or getting that at the local thrift shops! They can be cheap and easy to put in a car or with a power supply you can run those mobile radios up at home for base stations if your not able to get a base model, you can so hook them direct to a car battery if needed. They great to have!
It's totally out in my area, but pro tip: If you've got isopropyl alcohol available in your area, buy a large container of it and some glycerine, and you've got some homebrew hand sanitiser. Just remember, *this is not a replacement for washing your damn hands*
@@graceb2ubonilla398 I believe you use 70% iso and 30% water, and just put a tiny bit of glycerine in. The glycerine's basically just to keep your hands from drying out too much. Also this formulation is more watery than most storebought sanitisers. EEVBlog has a video on it, search up "EEVBlog hand sanitiser" and watch that. I do need to reiterate that this, like all hand sanitisers should be, is only for when washing your hands is impossible or impractical.
When I started out, I would save and clean out juice containers, especially the apple juice container from Walmart. Then I moved up to 5 gallon and 14 gallons containers. I was saving up money while buying filters, life straws and tablets. I also keep a fair amount of bleach. I collect rainwater too.

A large arrangement of guns. My dogs. Tons of their food. Water purification. Ways to start fire. Storage for water. Storage for even more food. There is literally nothing else I need. Oh ya. Generators. That can power my entire home or cabin. Even have a grow tent growing veggies and fruit before all of this came about just because I like home grown foods.

A good (and safe) way to figure out what you're lacking in your preps is to spend a weekend, Friday evening to Monday morning, without using any utilities or appliances in your home. This means no electricity, plumping, phone or internet. No oven, microwave, or refrigerator. If you do this, be sure to take good notes, because you'll find out real fast what you're lacking. Thanks for the video.
For laundry if you have a cup of baking soda, a cup of vinegar and a cup of detergent, fill a bath with clothes. Then fill with water and leave it for several hours. It actually gets your clothes cleaner than a washing machine. The only problem is that it will take ages to dry without the ability to rinse
I bought 1000 glow sticks for 45.00 on line. Bend and break a couple..drop them into a simple plastic water bottle, attach a string for hanging up or just sit ir on a surface. You will be surprized at the way they can light up an area with a soft glow. Your eyes get used to the kind of light they put out. They will continue to glow for 12 to 18 hours. Use them for marking a trail when moving or hiking at night. Bend and break, drop one periodically to help you find your way back. Once they no longer glow dont throw away..you can find some clever way to use them I'm sure. (I stick a couple in my hair when camping..it makes it easier to find me in the dark if I want to be found ) 🙂😎

A battery powered radio (AM/FM) or a frequency scanning radio to pick up information. Just in case the Internet/Cell phone/ electricity systems get taken down for some reason.
1) Vodka or rum, many overlooked applications 2) hammer, anvil, tongs and a simple brick forge. SEED SEEDS
And chickens
I have seed bank with thousands of non-gmo, and non-hybrid seeds.
If the world really goes to shit that's going to be the new currency or at least one of them.
Yeah! You can’t eat toilet paper!!!
You’re one hail storm away form starvation. Not to mention bugs... jesus!!!
Despite what bloomberg says, being a farmer isnt actually that simple. 90% of people who buy seeds for survival wont see any meaningful return on the plan. Youre better off ensuring that the people who DO know are protected and equipped to do their jobs.
Remember people, you can boil tap water.
True but boiling isn’t necessary of you can get water from a filter for $0.15 a gallon which is very cheap
Run it through the coffee maker. That another idea.
In England our water is safe to drink from the tap :)
I'm so happy I can drink it straight from the tap... Such an overlooked convenvie for some people
@Drop Forged Survival, I think a few things you are missing meds-wise, is you should have Benadryl, for allergies and allergic reactions, and Elderberry ( syrup, gummies ,etc!) It is used world wide for the flu, or fevers, and works so quickly!
That's a great tip!! I love that
I bought this for my kitties, they freaked out. Wouldn't use...
Need to look into the pellets. Maybe mine will use them.🐈
I am lucky... I started prepping last summer. Actually I don't know why. My wife thought I got crazy. No she says: "Thanks!"

The strong urge to start prepping feels like NESTING when you're pregnant

For sure! I like that idea

Thanks. Hitting Coastal Farm tomorrow to get that. Storing kitty litter now. GREAT IDEA!
In Canada tap water is already filtered
Amazing
Yes, with your daily dose of fluoride added for your convenience.

Checking my own preps against your list and as it turns out I have everything you've listed. Thanks!
Everyone that was shatting on preppers? Whats up with it now😂
I understand what you mean... But this is time to share the message of prepping with non-preppers through calm logic and evidence based context. Not say "who is laughing now!!?" though humorous it helps no one in this situation.

I guess some people are more social than others.

Something a lot of people also forget is a crank radio never know when the power goes out or when your gonna need it
Too true, a hand crank radio is essential for obvious reasons. Also a solar charger for cell phones and other devices comes in handy.

I've got a solar powered weather radio that is also hand crank too

Good on you for being good to your neighbor but couple that gesture with the good word of prepping in advance
Shaving cream is not on my list. Just too much of a convenience item, lots of things more important.
I have a dedicated garden pump sprayer for that purpose.
Same
@@Valerie_3 That's a fantastic suggestion. I've always wanted to pick up meditation, but I've never gotten myself to do it consistently. I've definitely seen the good that even a couple of sessions has done me, so I guess this quarantine is a good chance to force myself to make a habit of it.
Your not alone.

Everyone was so surprised that tp was the item of the hour. Shouldn't be surprised. This just means everyone already had enough food and ammo.
this is why you're my favorite prepper

Just use a large bucket with a bin liner and some kitty litter + scent for the project, pop a scoop, or two of litter over the offending article & you are good to go. NO NEED FOR WATER. CHEERS, from Australia.
Glad you found it useful Laurie!
Jesus Mary and Joseph, I wanna pretend women don't do that.!!!
@@mickeymcmurphy3179 First of all Mickey, I am not a Female, & secondly, I stated an EMERGENCY, people have to be prepared to do & eat stuff they haven't done before to SURVIVE. Have a nice day & I hope you weren't eating when you read that LOLOL.
Sorry that I’m late to the Prepper party, but wanted to pass along a great tip from someone who is an experienced cat owner. A much better and cheaper option to cat litter is pine pellets that are sold as horse bedding. I’m sure this option would work in this situation as well, and they’re compostable.
Thanks for the video.
great idea; thanks
im a person who loves to stock up on stuff and there was some things ive never thought of, thanks for the great info!!!
Get Drano or some other type of liquid drain unstopped! I'm dealing with a stopped up kitchen sink!
Get baking sodas and vinegar it takes care of clogged drains the smells and no chemical. Put baking soda in the drain then pour vinegar on top
For laundry if you have a cup of baking soda, a cup of vinegar and a cup of detergent, fill a bath with clothes. Then fill with water and leave it for several hours. It actually gets your clothes cleaner than a washing machine. The only problem is that it will take ages to dry without the ability to rinse
life water straws are a god send. i plan on investing in a 3-d printer and Pla/abs plastic to create windmills and weapons
The life water straws.. are you talking about just regular drinking straws? Ty
@@anjanean no, these straws filter the water.
(I stick a couple in my hair when camping..it makes it easier to find me in the dark if I want to be found ) 🙂😎
I found bread today!!!!!

Ease the tension and being chill - and then you show Monopoly. I have NEVER played a game where someone's feelings are hurt.
Your feelings get hurt playing monopoly?
A battery powered radio (AM/FM) or a frequency scanning radio to pick up information. Just in case the Internet/Cell phone/ electricity systems get taken down for some reason.
Good tip! We have talked about that a great length here on the channel
Yup, I did add one kitty litter👍. Thanks
