Goes from shaking your head in disappointment to smiling with in 5 seconds lol only in a foxbody🇺🇲
That 331😍😍😍. Had an awesome time, can't wait till next year!!
I had the same problem with my 89 gt and it was a plug wire arcing on the header. Changed wires runs perfect
Man that thing is choppin idle.. lol! Track is what it is. Wasnt your fault. We'll get it next time.
Absolutely neo
Great meeting you there as well
Turn the idle up a turn it so. Everyone seems to think having the idle set at 4 or 5 hundred rpms is COOL BUT YA CANT EVEN HEAR THE CAM LOPE PROPER THAT LOW.
We had a great time and will be at the next one!! Had a blast meeting everyone and checking out all those awesome rides. This is the one event I look forward to since our first one in 2019. Great job on the event and awesome video!!!
I noticed those infamous Ford Motorsports wires on the set up. Their notorious for getting heat soaked and getting pin holes from the heat not to mention pre igniting to one another due to this situation. Run the engine at night to see if they give a light show.
Yep my reccomendation is to replace wires and plugs, Maybe even double check dizzy, My 82 did same thing, replaced wires and plugs and it stopped.
I had that issue on my Camaro. It would idle fine then bog and dim all the lights. My buddy noticed the arc from the side of the wire boot to the mount screw for the coil. New wires and had no more issues. I just put a new engine in my 97 Explorer, and going to use the 302 I pulled for a 331 build. Love the idle
From what I understand from my research on the SCT chip is that the tune is based on the injector size. So might have something to do with that. I ended up going Mirco on mine.
I am going through the same thing, I found bad corrosion in the distributor wiring harness. Hopefully my new one will be here soon.
Love the looks of that car!! I had an 87 of the same color. Really can’t wait to see a video of it when you get it all straightened out.
FTO21 was epic!!!!! Can't wait till FTO22 Thank you for all y'all do for this event for us.
Love your videos👍🏼, wish I had a stroker haha, still got my stock E7 heads on a 302
My car did that when I tried to go back to a stock MAF on my 91. It’s got an E303 and GT40 heads, 19 pound injectors, pro m maf sensor, and thought the maf was bad so I put a stock maf back on and it would do that unless you were hard in the throttle
It’s still was a good time with the rain and no racing the cruise was good to I’ll be back next year
What a beautiful ride!
Just a few bugs to get it sorted. Can't wait to see it after that!
I’m gonna be there next year!!!!!!! Can’t wait!!
Definitely in the tune. If you need a tuner for stock ECU I can put you in contact with Leech Motorsports out of OKC, they use a moates chip and will require a wideband but that thing will be transformed with a tune lol.
I built a 331 w/ some trickflow heads and a 76/80 mm turbo makes crazy power . almost 800 to the ground and has more in it. I like to play it safe .
arent you worried about splitting the block or is that a tall tale? jus started buidling a 331 with afr 185, and a e cam. i plan on getting a bigger cam when the car is completly finished
@@lonelylota Well I have a R block ford motorsports block, hard to find but I found one they say can take easy 1000 hp
Love the sound of that cam👌 I can tell the car is fun to drive.
Holy crap that thing is chopping down red woods!!!😵😵😵😵 nasty car bro... And I WILL get down to a FTO event eventually!!! Keep at it!👍👊💪😜
Man you have a serious chopper, just loving it, just an idea, look at the distributor it might be trying to come
apart in inside, had that happen before, very similar. You did a awesome job at FTO, you can't control
MOM nature.
Also I felt the Change when I changed to lighter springs in my msd distributor
Definitely in the tune i had this problem. Then I went with 90mm lightning maf and tweaked the tables for 30lb ran awesome get rid of the bbk maf
Safety first there will always be and other day for racing on a dry track.👏👍😎
I had the same problem with my 91 with 24 pound injectors and a granatelli air meter. I tried everything from timing, filters, tps.Long story short, I ended up going back to 19 pound injectors and it straightened right out instantly. I hope this helps
She's a runner... You hear it trying to breakout
Yes that’s sweet music sir!
My stock fox is the same way the first 5 minutes of starting the engine.
Mine does the same thing. Even after the motor is warm. Every start up. I just learned to deal with it haha.
Well Done 👍
Best thing I ever did to mine was swap to a 4150 carb style intake and a Holley Sniper. So much easier to set the parameters and drive it around for a bit, all done.
i’m about to do that to my 87 5.0, anything to note when you did the swap? assuming you went from efi to sniper.
Love the chop chop! Hope it’s something easy to fix! She sounds awesome!
My HCI 5.0 had issues popping and cutting out just like that and I had a bad ignition module and a bad stator in the distributor. Not saying that’s what you have but you never know.
Only meter I’ve had luck with is pro m.
Maybe ditch the chip and try calibrated meter
Great video, is your fuel pump getting enough voltage at low RPM ? You should tell LMR to start giving you discount codes again, I wonder why they stopped ?
That GT sounds good once it gets in the pulling range!!!
After just like what you described. Sounds crazy but taking it out and cleaning threats and reinstalling the bolt won't hurt and take much time. I bet that good down wre out Brother.. TOO MANY PONIES FOR THE BOLTS LOL
My 347 did the same thing down low, my tuner added more timing down low and that cleared it up.
Dead spot in the TPS sensor possibly... I had one go out like that.
My 1st thought too.
FTO was awesome! Can’t help the weather. Looking forward to 2022!
Where was it?
That car is so nice looking and that cam! 🔥 What cam is it? Did Chris say?
Pip chip? Had one of those go bad once and it was causing this. Maybe TFI module?
Wow! Nice 👍! What kind of headers are you running on that baby?
I would check the TFI module.
I agree.
Those BBK cold air kits are actually smaller than the stock air tube. There is some power gains going to a Anderson pipe.or even the stocker.
Sick! If I can help. It sounds like it was only WOT tuned and no driveability tuning done. Low slope might need tuning. It sounds like the idle is lean. 3,000 rpm is probably high slope only. My guess is the low slope needs a lower number or you could increase the maf curve flow values from 0 to 2v by 5% at a time might help. Do you have a wideband?
I went from a 5/8" length thread to a 3/4" thread plugs and fixed issue of cutting off at low rev didn't read instructions when I bought and swapped for AFR 185 HEADS to swap original plugs for longer plugs
That’s a great looking car
@Foxcastmedia I had the EXACT same problem when I was running an SCT 7 position chip from Bama Tunes. (Don’t judge!) Once I put the the Micro Squirt in the car, it completely woke up! I would swap the computer/chip ASAP and I’ll bet you a beer that fixes your problem.
Hey just went through the same exact issue with my car... Ended up being a bad maf, I thought it was fine cause the car would die when I unplugged it but when I unplugged it and kept it running it ran perfect from 1-3,000 rpm
Mine did the same thing till I change the o2 sensors to motorcraft
I am gonna try to drive the coupe from cali to Tenn for the FT2022! I am probably going to be registering the car to either Tenn or Missouri so I dont have to deal with smog, so perfect reason to bring it to the show..lol if my lazy ass has it done by then..ughhh
That's what mine is doing..it popping and backfiring. Not all the time though.
Mine is exactly the same but not all the time.
Any ideas on what it is?
an old trick we did at ford when this happens was uplug the mass air meter, it reverts to base maps, better or worse? better-the meter? but outside the ecu, worse, ecu issues.....make sure no split hoses =vacuum leak...
I had a similar problem when I had my notchback. I had leaking capacitors inside the ecu.
I would start looking at fuel issues and tune.
Caleb I drove 9.5 hours from Ohio to Jackson. Fto was well worth my time and money. Like it or brother I'll be back next year. Lol..... but I would like to offer my time for next year to help take some of the work off of you so you can get out there and meet the people. Let me know brother. I'll gladly help you make fto 2022 the baddest ford event ever....
Do a Ford fest up around Ohio..Jackson co..!!
But he don’t sweat it. In every organized event there’s always people going to complain about something. If it’s a car show, music out in, anything. Even to the snowmobile poker derby / drag races ( too cold out.!!!) where I am from. People always have something to complain about. That being said I bet you made more people happy then people complain.
Sounds like it’s popping back through the intake?
how old are those O2 sensors?
Check your throttle position sensor all way through the pedal push. Peeps don’t know this but i had a bug like that where there was a dead spot midway through the little ring on top. A new tps cleared it up!
mine is doing the exact same thing, just had the ecu rebuilt, new injectors, all new ignition, new fuel pump, new regulator. i have no idea
Wrong spark plug length depending on head style.
mine had same problem it was the plenum leaking in mating surfaces to intake manifold
Tickle that TPS sensor a little,
Oh Lord, it sounds like my washing machine.🤭
It looks like it's not charging at low rpm. Check the maf in case it's dirty.
That 331 sounds nasty and it must be a nasty car if its putting a smile on your face with all of the fast cars that you have driven over the year's, I can't wait until you get it straightened out then see the reaction on your face then cause if its fast you smile and if its not there is a blank stare at the road 🤣😂 😳= slow and 😁= nasty fast. 😂🤣 that cam is a beast, See if you can get the cam specs because I know A bunch of us will want to know which one it is so that we can put it in our cars 🤣🚗🍽🍽🍽🍽🚙💨💨💨
Beautiful GT
I had same bucking issue. I crushed an intake manifold gasket on install which made a bad vac leak. Hard to find. Just throwing out 2 cents
The popping is dizzy, spark plugs, or coil, My 82 was doing it. Replaced wires and plugs, and it runs great now, none of that popping shit like it was
man i wish i wasnt in cali so i could get to FTO we need a west coast FTO ASAP!!!!
Damn mine acted like that one time the same exact way had a little piece of lint stuck in the Mass air
Man that how my was idle fine spit and sputter down smooth out in the upper come to find pip had came loose and shorting out on the hall effects wheel in the dist
As a couple others have said, I say tps. Most used area is under 3k rpm. It prop has dead spot
How about an old school build 331 would that still happen , ? reason I am asking, Before even seeing this video that was what I was looking to build with a 302 I have , staying with carburetor , 1966 Fairlane
Needs a tune before it burns up from being too lean. Check out Leech Motorsports, Matthew will fix you right up remotely. This guy REALLY knows what he is doing.
He said it had already been to the tuner and put on the Dyno? Don't know. It's a shame though
Had that car 1991 5 speed gt blue and grey
I'm going to bet it's the related. If the maf curve is off or the injector is data is not correct that'll do it.
Maybe it’s ignition system?
Check the module and fuel filter.
Any updates on your mustang yet?
I have a question. At the beginning of the takeoff, it jerks back and forth. Mine does that same crap. Is there something that can be done about it?
What cam is in it? Im sure the chip is 90% of the problem. Needs retuned.
tune/chip is dependent on injector size
@@nutfield7678 so your agreeing or disagreeing? A real tune is dependant on all of the engine parameters like displacement and volumetric efficiency.
Pull the chip out first and see what it does, sounds like a bad burn on chip
Hopefully I'll be at ford takeover next year!
Man she cams niiiiice
Holley terminator bud, that'll fix er
Ok. First of all I love the channel and car. So here goes. When on open road I start out in first and it goes nowhere. No power. Pops in intake. I turn the car off turn it back on the car runs like a scalded dog. Like nothing is wrong with it. And it surges when at stop. What could it be? 306 engine x-303 cam, Windsor jr heads. Thank you so much
Idle =ok..WOT=ok...EGR?...collapsing/restricted vacuum line? Sounds like its getting proper fuel/spark or it would have the same sputter at idle/WOT. It hauls at WOT can tell by your permma grin! DP
Idle wasn’t ok, died coming off throttle.
You selling it lol nice Nice hot rod
Sounds like a sketchy wide band O2sensor
Mine does exactly the same thing but not all the time.
seems like an ignition issue but I ain't no fox guru. My 370Z did that with a bad coil pack
Maybe not related Buddy.. I had an old pony act like that. I turned out to be a small crack in the distributor hold down. The the little triangle the bolt goes through developed a crack my buddy discovered it. I PUT A NEW HOLD DOWN TRIANGLE PIECE AND BOLT WITH A DAB OF LOCK TIGHT 🙏💪😎👍🦊🐎🍀🌳🌅🙏😇
Camshaft ?
Needs a holly system
Do you thinks it's worth dumping money into a 4 cyclander fox I'm only 19 what I mean by that is putting a paint job and it needs all the fluids flushed and changed and a battery and set of tires it was sitting for 7+ years I put a fuel pump in it them straps for the tank about killed me it started up ran grate also it's a manual shifts good it's a hatchback as well I love this car but it's a lot of money to dump into this 4 cyclander I wanna keep it until I can afford a 5.0 I dont know man it just kills me to look at it every day it's also my only car so I gotta make up my mind fast would you worry about painting a 4 cyclander fox? I just need some advice another thing I've never drove a v8 fox sadly but I've drove the 2019 5.0 that thing rolls
What cam is in it
Is it fuel to air ratio?
Sorry for not being around as much, life has been extremely busy for me.
My 89 doing that popping tell me what is it
