  • In this video, we explore the concept of a 7th generation stealth fighter jet envisioned by the US Air Force. This futuristic aircraft aims to revolutionize air combat through groundbreaking technologies. Key features being explored include hypersonic speeds, unmanned teaming, space-faring abilities, advanced sensors and AI, and directed energy weapons.
Hypersonic speeds would enable the fighter jet to fly at Mach 5 or higher, allowing for rapid response and engagement anywhere in the world. Unmanned teaming would involve the fighter jet controlling smaller drones for various missions, enhancing situational awareness and survivability. The ability to operate in space would open up new frontiers and missions, such as satellite maintenance.
Advanced sensors and AI would provide unparalleled situational awareness to the pilot, enabling effective command and decision-making from longer ranges. Directed energy weapons, such as high-power lasers, would offer tactical advantages over conventional munitions.
Overall, the 7th generation stealth fighter jet concept represents a significant leap forward in aviation technology, with the potential to redefine air combat. With hypersonic speeds, unmanned teaming, space-faring abilities, advanced sensors and AI, and directed energy weapons, this fighter jet could provide the US Air Force with unprecedented global reach, endurance, and lethality.

Scramjets do not compress air. They simply combust fuel and air at or above supersonic speeds. No compressor stage.

IR stealth at hypersonic speed is a fairly sketchy idea.
But IR is a rather "fair weather" system, and to really work well at BVR air-engagement ranges, needs to on an airborne sensor platform. So radar stealth does limit long range, poor weather, and ground based detection by a lot.
I think the logic mostly goes "yeah, but what can you do about it at mach 5?"

I Attended A Civilian Air Force Fund Raiser Held By High Level Retired Air Force Personnel!
Active Duty Generals, Intelligence Officers, Retired F-16 Pilots (Still Active In The Intelligence Sector) , Defense Contractors (Sandia Labs, Northrup Grummans, Lockheed Martin Etc.
During A Conversation With A Few Intelligence Officers, They Asked Me If I Saw The Latest Maverick Movie. They Told Me That If You See A Plane Like The Dark Star In A Movie, It's Obsolete And Has Been Oked To Be Viewed By The General Public!
I Can Tell You That The US Already Has A 7th Generation Fighters Flying/Being Tested! It Can't Be Seen By Radar, Can Cloak And Not Be Seen By The Human Eye And Will Endure Laser Attacks, Etc., Etc..!

    F15 eagle does Mach 2.5

Well the F-15A did, officially anyway.
The engine update in the 90's raised max thrust by over 20%, yet the official figure is still mach 2.5.

Sorry - but the maximum speed of a jet is rarely (speak never) used. In the Gulf war there hasn’t been one occasion where jets were flying faster than Mach 1.2. In fact most (I think it was more than 90%) have been at transonic speeds.
And with payload (which a weapon system like the Eagle needs I’m combat) and external fuel tanks (which it also needs especially flying at high speeds and with afterburners) the possible speed (which is not equal the usable speed which is far lower) is probably Mach 1.8 - maybe even only Mach 1.6…

It might not be a fighter plane, but it's still one fast jet. SR 71 blackbird..mach 3.5....

@@Dominikmj Apart from the occasional need to leave an engagement quickly. Or if an eagle gets pulled into a rate-right which isn't going well it can "leave, turn around, and reset". And the preference for air superiority role to be able to go mach 1.05 for fairly sustained periods of time (and to fly high) to improve the kinetic energy for it's missiles.
But mostly, yeah. The _ability_ to go so fast more shows up as an asset in acceleration, and thrust to weight ratio, but generally at speeds much less than mach 2.5

@@Mike-tq7nz YF-12 was slightly faster. And technically was a "fighter". Quite a terrifying one, considering it carried 3 air-to-air nukes.

Why are they spending so much time and money on determining what is needed, inventing ways to meet the need, designing materials and machines, gathering the right materials at the right place at the right time, making things the right size, shape to fit together, writing manuels to communicate how to do it? Why don't they just wait until the fighters evolve like the super complex chemistry and machines that operate our bodies? We have mitrochondria that spin 6000 rpms and manufactures one molecule of adenosine triphosphate from each spin. We have transport proteins with 2 "feet" that walk along protein threads carrying another molecule 50 times bigger. We have DNA manuels which is chemical "letters" organized in a specific sequence (language) expressing all the information (intelligence) needed to make our body. And the information is communicated (intelligence) to the amino acids to tell them how to sequence and to proteins to tell them how to fold to make the exact shapes and size to make the microscopic machines. Let the fighters evolve like the millions of parts of our body.

How the heck is Russia going to keep up with this? Russia's high tech capabilities are such that they are required to purchase cheaply made tires, for their military vehicles, from China, which produces tires and parts as rapidly and cheaply as possible! Russia currently has no access to Mastercard. Russian leadership has taken its military technical capabilities backward to be less than equal to its WWII capability!!

You could house every homeless person in the nation and provide mental health care to all the psycho spree killers for half the money that will be spent on this. The nation's fascination for death and killing is telling to the psyche of the Americans.

    Respectfully: total nonsense.
To begin with: NGAD (next generation air dominance) doesn’t at all mean 6th generation. It is a trope which doesn’t want to die. Not one military official (as per knowledge) ever said 6th generation!!!
Second l: while hypersonic jets _might be developed_ - it also doesn’t at all make them a seventh generation (or even might not put them anywhere into the “generation game”.
Generations are solely given (counted) to combat fighter jets. If there is a hypersonic jet, it probably takes over as a reconnaissance surveillance platform (like the SR-71) - maybe with some secondary strike capabilities. It won’t be a multi role jet in direct competition with any other jet- it probably won’t even have air to air capabilities (beyond to defend itself- but probably this is even not necessary due to its sheer speed).
But: a deployment is very questionable anyway. Hypersonic technology is just bleeding money - and given that NGAD (against the original plans) will be incredible expensive it seems for the USAF not even feasible to indulge into another costly endeavor!!!
