The ova is such a lovely movie, nostalgia probably plays a large part but its honestly worth a watch, you get used to the voices eventually. The visuals and soundtrack are just so top tier it makes it all worth while. Hoping the mod gets tweaked again soon, has lots of potential.
OVA Sonic is basically another version of Junio/Toei and Tyson Hesse Sonic so it’s hard to create original mods for them without it looking and playing the same.
Ova sonics double jump ability was not used to maintain momentum, it’s more used for control and gaining extra height as his boost and wall run are great for simply staying at high speeds
It just Junio Sonic moveset so your not far off. Also the way that first move works is its dependent on if you're using controller or your camera type.
I actually was really impressed when this mod came out, but I do agree that the new update is just not really an improvement on the original sprites, and I feel like I can improve on the hand drawn sprites myself even if I don't have any experience on hand drawn animation (tho that isn't important it's just something I've had in my chest for awhile since they were a lil odd looking to me and I'm someone who watched the ova multiple times) and I think the wall running was one of the things that i thought was stopping the mod from being great for me, but since I do see ur point there's more than just those two that I think should be fixed or improved
How come all your videos start with "I have absolutely no experience with what this mod is referencing"? Go play pizza tower, go watch the sonic OVA, go play metroid, it's good stuff
Simply put, I just don't think my tastes align all that much with those of most SRB2 creators and my viewers. Pizza Tower never popped out to me as anything more than the fun-looking game with the unique artstyle, I don't have any free legal access to the OVA and it hasn't interested me enough to bother pirating it, and while I wish I could get into Metroid, my one experience with it was Super Metroid on Switch Online, and it hurt my hands so much trying to control it I could never touch it again.

actually, ova sonic had the SRB2 style sprites first, until they were switched to hand drawn. which a lot of people didnt like.
