LOVELY and thought provoking! God you are literally~ I BELIEVE and KNOW struggling for the legal tender is a lack of faith... This world is SO messed up because the focus here is money and not LOVE ♥ Then Jesus asked them, "When I sent you without purse, bag or sandals, did you lack anything?" "Nothing," they answered. AMEN! Luke 22:35
Thank you for posting this with the words. Jackson's lyrics are stand alone poetry. This song, the video images, the printed lyrics, capture profoundly how my heart cracked open. I was eagerly waited for the "changes he was working towards, he was bringing a schedule that left a life." He spoke of drawing boundaries, and containing the 50, 6o, 70 hours devoted to work . I listened to words, he was making changes at work....to Be Available, and present to the love we had. But alas it was just those "fittful dreams of some greater awakening". Even before the morning light, he was up and off to work. Yes. His True Love! He grinds 50- 70 hours a week. 40 years of habit, get up and do it again This song gives me the needed dose. I feel deeply with a sweet good man. Or perhaps just the fantasy of a man who presented as being available, and wanting to be with me. .... It wasn't long before the words didnt match the reality. Work addiction is cunning. It takes a long time to know a person. Thank you Jackson! My former lover is is a happy idiot who struggles for the legal tender, solid man. Those ads take aim & stake their claim to his heart, his soul He is a spender! Sadly he is doesn't think of his heart- manipulated by the ads that have wove their majic and he believes in whatever may lie , in those things that none can't buy And the truth: Truth:? True magic love could have been a contender..... He has made his choice. To work instead of love. Or rather- his work is his love. I understand. I can not compete with his love & devotion to making thing happen! He will stay busy. Making money, buying things that money can but. Where REAL LOVE could have been a contender. I ham letting the fantasy go. We are Not a match. He has Big Projects to build. His son has him as he ACCOMPLlSHISH big man fantasies. I say a prayer for This Prenter. Maybe he will remember how he started out so young & strong...but he has surrendered. I pray. I grieve. I let go. Remembering my higher power has path for me I Prayer for The Pretnder. And for myself. And I remember something amazing will come along. I hope. I learned so much from this pretender. May this heart deeply hurting move me to a higher place. Amen.
I absolutely wore this album out during my college days - I remember drifting off to sleep many a night listening to this...wonderful lyrics. I like every song on the album, but this one along with Sleep's Dark and Silent Gate were my two favorites.
my husband's favorite song that is long gone, yesterday would have been 62nd birthday. here's to Sandoval. Are u there say a prair for my pretender rip.
I have been to several JB concerts and this one, and by far, always gets the most shouted out requests and the loudest response. I think because it may be the only one of his songs that everybody can relate to, leading a life of quiet desperation and faded dreams, but with your one true love. (Libby P: very well done vid. Many, if not most, are not at all worth watching. Your's are. Thank you).
your extremely talented my friend. I have listened to this song for years. you brought it to life for me. Well done. don't let anyone tell u otherwise. your a fantastic artist. thank you
I’m so glad someone else loves that as well 😊 “And we’ll fill in the missing colors, In each other’s paint-by-number dreams” is one of my all time favorite lyrics of any song ever!
Libby, I hope you are working professionally in this field. I have never seen Browne's masterpiece visually communicated so perfectly as you have done. Each picture does the job succinctly and brings it on home especially the one....well, I was going to start naming the ones that stand out, but you nailed every single shot. Just stunned and blown away. This video needs to be shown to classrooms and everywhere to drive home the point about how our mad runaway consumerism since Jackson wrote this song has led to empty souls and loss of dreams. What a prophet he was. And you as well!
Thank you Nancy! I am so glad you liked it. No, I don't do this as a profession, which is flattering. Know anyone that's hiring? Lol. I usually make greeting cards, and decided to try a new approach. Making them has helped me to get through some challenging times. Jackson is the genuine article. Thanks again! Libby
Nancy H.C. Nancy, I want to thank you again for taking time to be so supportive. The great, straight to the point, Steve Jobs video helped as well. We are all teachers and students. Thanks again and "say a prayer for the pretender" right? Wishing you all the best that life has to offer. Libby
The best songs become more meaningful as life goes on. The lyric is simple, the tune is unforgettable and the themes apply to everyone when they finally discover the true cost of the love of money. The images used here were spare and very appropriate because the real action of the song occurs in the listener's mind.
Excellent work Libby! A great interpretation of Browne's song...BTW, were some of the photos from Kansas City, MO? Thought I recognized some of the buildings...
I'm going to be a happy idiot And struggle for the legal tender Where the ads take aim and lay their claim To the heart and the soul of the spender And believe in whatever may lie In those things that money can buy
One of his best songs.💗 The consumer life isn’t it love and the simple life is the happiest.

Quando ascolto questa canzone penso che forse esiste in dio
Has nothing to do with religion. Have a nice day!!
