witch is why a lot of schools and governments used them, there great for a lot of stuff even for industrial equipment and car tuning due to the COM ports and also for EPROM and flash chip readers.
even more so if you can get your hands on a later model one that has DDR3 ram and fingerprint reader built in.

I hated these things. Cheap and nasty spreadsheet machines to throw at office wage slaves. My workplace had them everywhere back in the late 00s and early 10s. Some bright spark even had the genius idea of upgrading them all to Vista. That lasted about 6 months before they realised what a waste of money that had been and downgraded back to XP. We then ended up with real laptops - Thinkpads. Glad to see one getting manhandled.

it has a adapter for a 2.5 inch ide harddrive, but as yours is missing you'll need to buy one of those, very common though it seems still.
and instead of a harddrive you can get a msata too ide adapter & get a cheap msata ssd working on this, though dunno if you'd want that tbh as these machines are pretty limited. Got a similar spec dell inspiron 6000 here with a pentium m at 1.5 ghz, 1.5 gb ram & ati x300 graphics.

centrino was just a marketing ghimmick by intel that just meant a laptop with an intel cpu and intel wifi card so the original owner also took the wifi card from that laptop
they did it untill 2010 i have seen a 2010 acer aspire 8935g in person that had an intel centrino sticker on uit it had a core 2 duo t6600 and an intel link 5100 agn wifi card in it so yeah it was just a marketing ghimmick the entire time lol

lemme tell you whats intel Centrino. So alot... OF YEARS, (like 12 years.) Intel has maked DUAL CORE, in Centrino. So Intel centrino it's dual core, cuz it's says like that.
-What does even that mean, man?
-Well... we say Dual Core cuz the processor it's a dual core (2 cores), or a Quad core, that has 4 cores. And they changed from Dual Core or Quad Core to... INTEL CENTRION :D (still a suck processor tho) But for a windows XP/vista that u play old games. (2000s games) thats actually a good laptop for old games, but for new games... sadly, crashes. well... This it's what a Intel CENTRION :D it's it. (if u never HEARD of it.)
