Since Lois killed a woman who resembled her and then assumed her identity, I doubt it was due to psychosis, and more due to greed and a gambling addiction. I think option #3 was spot on.

It is incredible that a person says to someone "if anything happens to me look at my wife"!! WHY would you continue to live with someone, if you cannot trust them and believe they COULD and MIGHT kill you??? This should be a wake up call that you need to move out!! I have heard this statement mentioned many times in murder trials and wondered why the person (who is obviously dead now, did not move out). It baffles me, that a person would continue living with their soon to be killer!!

This is a good example of just how devoid of logic and self preservation a victim of abuse becomes. The damage isnt only physical. It often ends up psychologically manipulating the victim into appearing to the outside world. Just as crazy and delusional as their abuser describes them as, when deflecting responsibility or using the "you made me do this" defense.

    • @LoziPop
      @LoziPop 3 роки тому +19

How many cases have you learned about, where the victim was killed when they decided to leave? Being afraid they might one day kill you, is vastly different to the 100% definate end of life they promise you, if you try to leave. Would you rather live another 20 years being injured, or just not live another day? Yea there are ways to get help to leave safely, but the victim needs to know what they are, where they are, the courage to risk being caught ask if for help before help can come, and the fact their abuser will have nothing but a piece of paper signed by a judge, to protect you. It's like believing you can survive sky diving without s parachute, if you wear a suit made from bubble wrap. The only thing that paper does, is get taken into consideration during their sentencing after they end you.
The statistics prove it. Most DV homicides occur when the victim decides to leave.

Her gambling played a huge part in this. I think more so than some psychosis theory, which really hasn't been proven. Gambling is an addiction and addicts will often do what seems like psychotic behavior, but it is only the drive to keep gambling. So many of her actions before and after the murders centered around the availability to gamble. In fact all of them pointed to her ability to continue to gamble! The addiction was so strong that she was willing to kill for it. I feel Dr Grande should have addressed the gambling more than the alluded to, but not concretely proven, mental health issues. Because someone is addicted to gambling does not necessarily mean they have severe mental health problems.

I’ve been listening to Dr.Grande for a couple years now on a daily basis, and have always gotten a kick out of his dry humor and adore his ability to always come up with intriguing video titles, but after the wax worm tangent, I think I just might be in love 😂 My favorite video, so far 😊

Thanks for the presentation and analysis.
I'm definitely going with number 1.. Gambling addiction is a very powerful drug.
I am disturbed about this one more than the others.
Her husband really made the American dream come true. Wax worms. Brilliant!
Good man !! I can't help wanting to wish her the worst that life has to offer.
Sympathy for the murdered lady too.

I am disturbed about this one too. What kind of "pain" did she have that made her murder 2 people? Look at all the abused wives that endure beatings and verbal abuse and all they try to do is leave and their crazy husbands stalk them and try to kill them. This murderous grandma had an easy life, she was just selfish and greedy and used the idea of mental pain to justify her crimes.

    Good Monday morning Dr. Grande!
Driving highway 1 passing the beautiful redwoods, listening to you & enjoying my coffee!
There are several casinos in Northern Ca.near me.
Ya know, there are very small signs that say..
“Thank you for your donation” ( wink)
If some only realize, casinos are there to generate revenue for the tribe...not so much for the players, also take note, you won’t see any tribal members, or Native Americans gambling.
Why a woman like she could not have looked at her own family, considered them before donating her money & others life’s & money the way that she did?
I don’t know about this addiction, seems mighty powerful though!
The parking lots are always full..

There's no way Dave handed the woman he was afraid of a loaded pistol. This was obviously Lois's pitiful attempt to gain sympathy.
Addiction doesn't make someone a murderer. It's a stressor and it can be the trigger for already bad people to do bad things. The primary cause here was Lois's lack of empathy and I'm glad your analysis aligns with this because too many people are prepared to blame addiction for violent behaviour. I've known many addicts who, though far from perfect, owned their addiction and their suffering and maintained an ethical line past which they wouldn't go.
