RIP James Dewar. Gone too soon from years of a rare stroke condition. Thankfully we'll always be able to enjoy his smooth, beautiful voice on Stone the Crows, Robin Trower, and his solo album Stumbledown Romancer, which this song is from. Thanks for posting. I can listen to Jimmy for hours.
@robertogurgel9076 - I don't think you can as I think it's on his only solo album "Stumbledown Romancer". The original was recorded in 1959 by the Drifters. However Jimmy's is my favorite !!! If I ever find out I will let you know. I went to school with a friend 60plus years ago who knows alot of blues men, and has lots of historical stuff, etc. I'm going to see if he knows anything, but sadly don't hold your breath !!! Wouldn't it be great to find it ? Take care.
@luckygibbo1 wow you really were LICKY !!! He was such a nice family man too. We all leave this world eventually but his illness was an awful one. So glad at 70 years old all of the really good music is always available to listen and watch. Enjoy and take care Lucky from down under. (Your country is gorgeous and historically very interesting 💕😻
James's Dewar was more then Vocals & Bass Guitarist with Robin Trower. He also has writing credits for the songs the Trio put out. When Robin changed up & went BTL for a while, I didn't enjoy his music during that period. James's thundering bass & vocals brought thr music alive. RIP James's Dewar Stumble Down Romancer no more. 😎❤️✌️
You should listen to a song he recorded in 1986 “Word for Word”. This song was rediscovered in 2015 in a studio vault. The lyrics are so stunningly poetic and I will never understand why James Dewar never got the recognition he so deserved. When he was with Stone the Crows he had the lead vocal on “The Touch of Your Loving Hand” with Maggie Bell. You will see how talented this underrated vocalist is. To me his vocal clarity and range is very similar to Phil Lynott and Paul Rogers.
I so wish I could have caught him live in the 70's & early 80's. Sadly, I was much too young to get the chance :-( Jimmy’s voice has been present at many of our family functions throughout the 90’s through today. I always do my best to spread the word on how wonderful Jimmy was. Jimmy Dewar and Paul Rodger’s are my one-two punch any day of the week.
Listening too Dewar is surreal. Amazingly underrated as both a vocalist & bass player. For those in the know what a treasure. God Bless Ya Jimmy & Thanks from us mere mortals!
Robin couldn't replace James's, that's why he is singing himself now. I never felt James's was under rated, best blues singer I've ever heard, add playing bass with Trower, well far from being underrated. RIP 🎶🎶 I'll catch you on the B Side James's. 😎
Robin had many singers after Jimmy passed and Davey Pattison sounded hauntingly similar to Jimmy. The two were not only fellow Scots, but also friends. Robin is singing because he wants to sing!
Can u guys imagine Jack Bruce and James Dewar singing together? Of course, any ego would have to be left at the door. Quincy Jones made the ego comment!
Phenom singer. I love Robin Trower's music but its not the same without James Dewar on vocals. Mention Robin Trower to me and immediately James vocals on Long Misty Days goes thru my mind. Hate that he's gone and that he passed in such a terrible manner
@@crusheverything4449 Yes, typo on my part. James Dewar was a phenom singer & bassist. Davey Pattison is a great singer and filled James' shoes better than anyone else that has been with Robin but even Davey isn't as good as James IMHO
@@johndevalia2815 James had a surgery and started having issues shortly afterwards. The doctors first thought that he's been under anesthesia too long but it turned out to be a hereditary neurological issue that stole his voice, not able to sing or talk the rest of his life, and he was bed fast during the last part of his life. Very sad
Bass Guitar - David Hayes; Bass Guitar, Harmony Vocals, Guitar, Vocals - James Dewar; Drums - Bill Lordan, Dave Mattacks; Guitar - John Platania; Piano - Andy McMaster; Producer, Keyboards - Matthew Fisher.
Jim was a Gem. Bass player and great voice. Robin misses him still.
That voice one of the best all time----
I was lucky enough to Know Jim and his Fanily . His Son Jim Jnr and I were friends. Gone to soon Jim . Miss you mate . 🙏
Same. I met them when they lived in Hunterhill, Paisley. Young Jim gone far too soon too 😢

@@Dezotuf Thank you... I treasure it. Even Robin and his awful jump suit
A perfect voice!
Damn! What a great voice!!
Oh yeah, he was perhaps the greatest voice of all time in rock music! If not the, then one of the top 5 in history, no question.
One of the most underrated singers.I loved his voice.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I put James Dewar up there with the finest blues singers of all time. A true gem in his own.
James left us way too early. What a great soulful voice. RIP James, thanks for the beauty.
Love this guy play it everyday .. thanks for the beautiful music . RIP James..

James spoiled us so that it's hard to relate to any other of Robin's singers (sorry Davey Pattison)...Paul Rogers would be the closest.
I was lucky enough to see jimmy with robin trower on two occasions, an incredible talent irreplaceable
James and I shared so many 8 track and vinyl moments . So amazing, his soul and voice lives forever
Just a thing of beauty this song, your still thought of Jimmy. You ,Robin and the drummers rock the planet still in 2022
This guy could sing ❤

I was stoked and fortunate to see Robin Trower twice when James Dewar was still with us. Santa Monica Civic Auditorium in late 70's. RIP MR. Dewar.
Jimmy Dewar, the Pavarotti of rock. Gone to soon, but we’ll always have the music.
Your Father Was The Best Singer In This World 👍
For someone who brought so much joy into the world…he suffered so in his final act on Earth. Luved his gifts.
I so wish I could have caught him live in the 70's & early 80's.
Sadly, I was much too young to get the chance :-(

God I miss his voice, imagine all the wonderful music Jimmy and Robin would have made...miss him, miss his soul...
What a guy. I still feel sad for his family.
Yes. 🎗️😢
Like a fine Single Malt. Dewar is Timeless & Unequaled!
Everytime I hear this song, I want to cry. Miss you, James.
Jimmy Dewar! You are the bees knees!
Sing like an angel. Hope you be singing to Martha for all eternity!
Amazing voice

Another great track by Jimmy!

Great singer and a great bass player. A huge inspiration for me!
Best all around singer..imo!
Blue eyed soul. So wonderful.

✨💫🎸🪄🙏
GREAT GUY RIP JIMMY RWARD
Genius and A Very King Friendly Man
Might be just me, but I'm definitely hearing a Roy Orbison sound in his voice. Never a bad thing. Kind of sent a chill down my spine. Such a talent.
The great james dewar
Great vocalist 👏 🙏
Miss that beautiful voice
Amazzzinggg singer omg
I put him above Paul Rodgers because of the emotion and soul he brings to the music.
smooth.........

Days goes thru my mind. Hate that he's gone and that he passed in such a terrible manner
Safe to assume you meant it’s NOT the same without James Dewar?
Crush Everything hahaha very safe to assume
What terrible manner? What happened to him?

James Dewar ist war die Stimme von Robin Trower. Er ist und bleibt unersetzlich. R. I. P. James.
It's available. On iTunes. Not on vinyl. Unfortunately!
Mmmmmmmmmm brilliant.
Amazing
This guy should've been a big big star! Promoters failed him miserably.. .
He sounds like baritone Franky Beverly.great voice
he truelly had agreat voice its asad thing we lost him
Awesome 👍🌹🌹🌹🌹👍👍
Reminds me A LOT of the great Phil Lynott of Thin Lizzy!!! Sounds (and looks) like they were "Twin sons from different mothers"
Funny, I don’t think Dewar and Lynott looked or sounded anything alike whatsoever.
Respect. Thankyou

I have been looking for the Stumbledown Romancer Album FOREVER, Can someone please tell me where I can buy the vinyl?
Amazon - look through their list of dealers. Music Magpie are normally a sure fire bet .
Keith Rose me too, afraid to say it’s a rare thing and copies are changing hands for over $700!
I don’t think it ever came out on vinyl. There was a very limited CD pressing in 1998 and that’s it, to my knowledge.
CD is on iTunes xx
Is there a website for Jimmie?
My mums uncle
shannon dougherty a
Yes?
Is this a cover or did James write this one?
Drifters
♥️🎼☮️
anybody know where you get the album?
It was only made available in a limited CD pressing in 1998, so it’s super-rare and if you can find one, super-expensive!
It's on iTunes x
As good as anything the rolling Stones out out
That voice…..
Invite Sarah to dance
If Sam Cooke was born in Scotland.............
Soulman..... Jamesman. And Robin..... batman ain't t real......
James sounds a little like Roy Orbison on this song. He was a talented guy!
