I think the biggest difference between vgc and Smogon for this is actually vgc is mainly played as tournaments and Smogon is mainly a ladder system. It really feels like the type of thing where it could give you a solid positive win rate on a ladder but just having a positive win rate in a tournament is awful when you likely need to win 80-90% of your matches in order to win a tournament
Fun Fact: Another reason Alolan Muk is the best Pokemon for this is because Dark types are immune to Prankster boosted moves. Tornadus could not taunt it unless it Terastalized. Fun Fact 2: That Flamigo strategy was briefly popular, but using an incredibly convoluted and predictable Dondozo setup instead. (Very, very briefly popular.) The strategy involves having your Perish Song user on the field next to Tatsugiri. After using Perish Song, you swap that Pokemon for Dondozo, activating their Commander ability, taking Tatsugiri off the field and giving Dondozo +2 to all stats. Usually when paired up, Tatsu and Dondozo are both locked out of switching, with Tatsugiri unable to act in any way. However, the Perish Song continues to tick down, eventually killing the Tatsugiri inside Dondozo's mouth. This lets you swap in your Flamigo to copy Dondozo's stat changes, which could have been boosted even farther using Order Up while Tatsugiri was still alive.
I had a battle with my son the day this went up. He used Hyper Beam with Arceus and missed and I followed up by landing a zap cannon with Zapdos. He is six. This game is the most unfair when it feels like it.
Evasion boosts are really hard to handle, when you don't have moves with 101% accuracy. I remember playing LGPE and there was one NPC in Koga's Gym, that spammed Minimize like 4-5 times on his Muk. And it was a plain torture, considering Muk is a mon with a lot of HP.
this reminds me i was just doing battles on showdown and this guy started using fear ratata i send out a ghost type mon and his strat became useless it was such a fun thing to do
If were making relevant Yugioh comparisons, I'd have to say Taunt is the Ash Blossom & Joyous Springs of Pokemon. It's an instant combo killed that can shut down your hard fought setup and completely make you useless for a turn or two. it will also make you wanna jump the table and beat the shit out of your opponent.
I think i remember a certain Pokémon youtuber who’s name I won’t say, he said something about there’s so many counters to Evasion it’s pointless to use it
Completed Battle Tree Super Multi for the first time yesterday, Red's Lapras which may or may not have Water Absorb holding Bright Powder Vs Cynthia's Milotic who used Hydro Pump Fun fact, I tried PoA Mum but with Glalie, this all went down the drain because of Blizzard
I believe you’re confusing that with the Prankster nerf. Back around Gen 7, I think, they changed the mechanics so that any move that was given priority by Prankster no longer affected Dark types
@@gopalgopadvenkat1425 dark types are only immune to Taunt if it gained priority via Prankster. Flutter Mane is just fast lol. There's nothing in bulbapedia or serebii that straight up says dark types are immune to Taunt, UNLESS it gained priority via Prankster.

Anything that bypasses accuracy checks (except Telekinesis for some reason) does work on OHKO moves. But anything that just modifies the accuracy, such as Compound Eyes or Sand Veil, won't work on OHKO.
I don't play at all, but there seems to be a lot of hate for people just playing it as a numbers game, which is weird to me because that's what it is. This is the epitome of the phrase "Don't hate the player. Hate the game" But people love the game despite the exploitable rules, so they just default to hating the players using them. If you're really good at this game because you're playing it as a numbers game, drop this and start counting cards in blackjack. Contrary to what people seem to think, it's definitely not cheating, and it's not illegal.
The main thing of why it's looked down on is because most dedicated evasion strats require literally no skill. You usually have a dedicated play line that you just do every time and hope everything works out, with not many options if they have strong counterplay. Competitive pokemon likes to think of itself as a skill game with a lot of luck elements and it shows in that skilled players consistently win multiple tournaments, but evasions strats go entirely against that standpoint (which is a major reason as to why evasion is banned as a whole on Smogon)
2:41 -2:43 Really? That the analogy you want to use? One it’s focus miss and second no one is going to use a special attack on a Chaney unless they have no choice.
“No one wants to roll the dice”
Unless, of course, it is the Loaded Dice
14:32 Patterrz quickly switches from being disgusted by the strategy to being interested on it.
Patterrz in PokeRogue gacha: *Get it twisted. Gamble gamble gamble*
Patterrz here: Don’t get it twisted, don’t gamble
So for anyone not already aware, OHKO moves aren’t affected by Evasion/Accuracy. That 30% accuracy is TRUE 30% accuracy
Except in Gen 1, where OHKO moves were affected by it.

Wait, why would tornadus going Terra make prankster work if alolan muk would still be a dark type?

Koga himself did that to me in Fire Red 🤣. He was on his last mon too, like, dude, you've already lost, quit drawing it out
I don’t look at it so much as evasion of taxes, as much as not doing the IRS’ job for them after I’ve already paid them far too much.
