I made this yesterday and it was the best recipe for smoked baked beans I've ever tried. I omitted the peppers and added three smashed cloves of garlic during the onion cook down, and I also added a diced tomato when mixing in the beans and other ingredients. The result was wonderful. I also scaled the recipe down by 1/2 (didn't need two giant cans of beans) and took them off the smoker after two hours and kept them in the oven at around 200 degrees to make room for the corn on my smoker. Fantastic!
This bean recipe was awesome! It was a huge hit at a potluck on our lake here in Michigan. Thank you! P.S. Your burnt ends made with Chuck roast was excellent as well! Thank you!!❤
I've been searching for my Go-To BBQ beans recipe. The search is over! These beans are fantastic! I've made them 3 times in the past month for social events and 4th of July parties and everyone loves them. I've shared your UA-cam link with many friends already. And yes, the thick sliced bacon on the top is a crowd pleaser. Keep an eye out for the bacon hoarders! LOL Thank you for sharing.
I just made this today. I sometimes try various recipes from different you-tube channels to find the one I like the best. This is the first BBQ bean recipe I have done and I won't be trying any others. I will make this one again and again. It was delicious. I am only feeding 2, so I cut the recipe down. I added the jalapeño last because wife doesn't like heat. Just before putting on grill, I put a third in another cast iron skillet with yellow bell pepper for the wife. Mine got the jalapeño. This was better than any of the ones you can buy, I can't say enough about it. Thanks for sharing with us. Ron
I’m new to the channel not new to grilling and smoking. Those beans are one of the first recipes. I will be trying once it warms up here in Michigan. It’s almost 0° on Christmas morning so I won’t be cooking them today but in the future, it is on.
Great recipe. I love your videos. You have some of the best videos on smoking food. Keep smoking! My wife saw the finished product and said, Now there is someone who knows how to make baked beans, with bacon.
Really nice cook, looks mouth watering delicious. You're one of a few Smokers who use Molasses??? I love Molasses and use it in my backed beans, on iron skillet corn bread and mop sauces. Blessing's for you & your family. Thanks Chuck
She is easy on the eyes too!...just sayin. :) This weekend - gunna give this a whirl, might add a pork hock in the middle while its in the smoker...mostly cuz my cast iron pot is huge - so need to fill the real estate a bit. Wish me luck
I found this recipe on Google in I guess what was a blog, lol. I've been doing beans this way for almost 2 years. Everyone always loves them and requests them every cookout. Thank you for this fantastic recipe! Although, I do the whole process in a pan then transfer everything to an aluminum pan for the smoker.
Hey There ! We made this today as a side for our 4th of July dinner, we made it with your Easy Smoky BBQ Pulled Pork recipe and let the pork drip into the beans as it smoked...Soooo Goood ! Thanks!
Thanks for the recipe, these were awesome. I added some chopped up bacon, about four slices and skid the mustard. The rest of the recipe stayed the same. To it to a beach party and everyone loved them. Thank you
Hey Susie I just got a Camp Chef smoker myself. It's the same color as yours only the smaller smoking chamber. How's the burner on the side working out for you. I'll probably be picking up one later. I have a very similar recipe for the baked beans. I do get lots of compliments on them. Love your recipes.
so this is my go to baked bean recipe now. though instead of jalepanos as to me they don't provide enough heat, i use rotel habenaro and tomatos. really kicks up the heat.
Just wanted to ask if the bacon is crispy after they cook on top? Too many people puts bacon on top and you wind up getting bacon that's halfway cooked. It looked like the bacon cooked all the way through.
I have been doing beans like this for years. I use the cheapest baked beans I can find in the store, along with one or two cans of black beans. Beans, bacon, onion, pepper, sauce, smoke...what's not to love?
@@Heygrillhey cooking them right now on the traeger , after the school run gonna chuck some of your tenderloins on 👍. Weather is gloomy now in UK so hopefully this will warm us up lol.
Awesome video! Loved how they came out! Question on the smoker, been looking into pellet smokers and saw that Camp Chef one... would you recommend it over other brands? You've given me the inspiration to follow my passion and start my own channel, so thank you!
I used van camps beans also , the same beans, used 4 ( 15 oz cans ) and it was very soupy and never thicken up , ….she must have drained her beans before hand and never told us , or cooked them on the burner and rendered them down and never told us…. So drain your beans or it will never thicken up
This is always my go-to recipe for these beans. They are the best..

That looks delicious! Add a pan of smoked Mac-n-cheese and a rack of ribs to go with them, mmmm
I made these for supper today. They made me happy. Thank you, Hey Grill Hey.

Honestly, I think you are one of the (if not the most) talented bbq personalities in media.
Thank you so much!!

You know,I will definitely try this recipe.Lots of rave reviews. Thank you for sharing.
My wife makes the best beans I've ever had, but I must say, these look fantastic! Thanks for sharing.
Just finished a 3hr cook with this recipe.......absolutely delicious!!👍🇺🇸

Just made this today!!!
These look awesome! Great work as always, the background music sounds pretty good too, gotta say...
Those look amazing Susie great recipe 👌😋
These look amazing! I fix some that is sort of like this but not with the bacon! We LOVE bacon, so I will make these tomorrow! Thank you! : )
Or.., OR.., do 6 more strips of bacon fully cooked and chopped added to the beans to cook for more porky goodness 👍
you have some great recipes! I've been making some awesome meals thanks to you.
Looks awesome
I am so subscribed.

I didn’t see a temperature you smoked at, but they sure looked good and I’d like to try them
250°F
Delicious👍👍
All I have is canned baked beans for this recipe no pork and beans. Would I need to adjust any of the other ingredients for that? Looks fantastic!
When 1/2ing recipe do you recommend reducing cook time..? (In 6-8” cast iron skillet)
Looks amazing. So who gets to clean the pan afterwards :)
My kids demand this when I smoke anything.
Mmmmmm smoked baked beans ( Homer Simpson voice)
Just wanted to ask if the bacon is crispy after they cook on top? Too many people puts bacon on top and you wind up getting bacon that's halfway cooked. It looked like the bacon cooked all the way through.
Oh my goodness. Doing this today
Yum yummmmmmmmm
Would you need to smoke longer in a cast iron 5qt. Dutch oven because it’s deeper ?
You should be fine with the smoke time in the video!
I have been doing beans like this for years. I use the cheapest baked beans I can find in the store, along with one or two cans of black beans. Beans, bacon, onion, pepper, sauce, smoke...what's not to love?
What type of grill/smoker are you using?
This is a Camp Chef SGX!
@@Heygrillhey thanks, can it use wood chips/chunks or just pellets?
Can i make these and add on the smoker a few hours later or do they need to go straight on.
That should work alright!
@@Heygrillhey cooking them right now on the traeger , after the school run gonna chuck some of your tenderloins on 👍. Weather is gloomy now in UK so hopefully this will warm us up lol.
Can you BBQ Ribs to ?
Is it too spicy for kids? I want the jalapeno flavor but might switch a green pepper if it’s hot.
Hardly any spice!
The tomato sauce in the beans take off your cast iron pan seasoning?
Hey Grill did you put a ladder in your beans while cooking?
If I’m in a time pinch, can I up there temp ? I need them done in 2 hours
Should be fine!
Thank you
Tell her Todd😅
Awesome video! Loved how they came out!
Question on the smoker, been looking into pellet smokers and saw that Camp Chef one... would you recommend it over other brands?
You've given me the inspiration to follow my passion and start my own channel, so thank you!
I absolutely would! I've owned several smokers and the Camp Chefs that I've had have been my favorite!
@@Heygrillhey Awesome! Thanks for the reply :D
Have you made homemade bacon?
Opps I put too much jalapeños, less for the kids 🥴😏 I then added half guiness beer to cut the heat 😜
Not a fan of beans, but that looks yummy.
Thank you!!
Looks like you get to eat the beans while Todd is cleaning the Sidekick.
Hmm… did this and the liquid didn’t tighten up. I even cooked em longer than the 3 hours. When they were done i had baked bean soup.
What if you have no smoker?
Put up a little sign that says, "One bacon slice per customer."
I used van camps beans also , the same beans, used 4 ( 15 oz cans ) and it was very soupy and never thicken up , ….she must have drained her beans before hand and never told us , or cooked them on the burner and rendered them down and never told us….
So drain your beans or it will never thicken up
Yeah Ive been watching other videos and everyone drains them.
Didn't you compete with BBQ Pitmasters ?
Not on that show, but I did compete on BBQ Brawl last summer!
Would be kinda nice to see you make them from scratch as opposed to using canned.
Never use canned beans.. use Real Soaked Pinto Or red beans
I would demolish that entire pan myself.
You lost me when you said to use canned pork n beans
Okay, this is gonna happen this weekend for New Years! Will tag you on Instagram and Facebook.
And it did happen. Very tasty! Tagged you on Instagram.
