I don't understand thumb-downing (or down-thumbing). I wouldn't do it except for something disgusting, foolish or violent. And why would I watch disgusting, foolish, violent videos? That would be my bad. Just keep making your art your own way and ignore the downers. Let's just be happy in ourselves, and be grateful to the artists and teachers who delight us for free. If you're happy and you know it, get your thumbs up!

My husband died in July 2021 and am starting to go back to the table, since I have been taking care of him for the last year or longer I haven’t had the heart to do any artwork but I’m feeling better but a little shaky and not sure where before I could just create and now I hesitate that’s why I asked about the crackle, I have All your old videos so I’ve been just sitting and listening and getting inspired again thank you so much you are a lifesaver and a very good example of how to push through the pain thank you I call you an inspiration kiss kiss Jeanne

LorriMarie, I learned many new mixed media techniques in this video. Firstly, I like how you organize your collage pieces. I have been trying to figure out a system for a long time to no avail. I will try this, I know it will work best. Secondly, I love how I learned about the layering process. Underpants (love it when you say that) building from least favourite to favourite. Thirdly, I really like the tearing technique, how to get the bevel on the back. This will be a useful technique in my future pieces. Once again, thank you for sharing your gifts and talents out in the world. You are a naturally born teacher.

I wondered why you left such a large border of whit around your focal point but then you outlined in paint saving you all that fussy cutting. I'm all for that. You are a great teacher and you demeanor and voice are so calming. Thanks I will include some of your techniques in my work.

I’m currently a visual multimedia student in South Africa, and have been binge watching your videos👏🏽 I find so many of your techniques useful, as I create my collages then scan them and continue working on them digitally... and then repeat! Your approach to the work also helped as I can at times be overly critical which hinders my process... ever since I heard you say “play” my entire approach changed and the quality as well as my production rate went right up... so again, thank u♥️

well victory sky....thank you for the comment....the brush i use....(and abuse) is amzn.to/2DKC3ch i highly recommend this brush..(i only promote things i am crazy about)...and...some pieces i seal with clear acrylic spray....most pieces have a final coat of modpodge so they do not need any other sealant...i hope that helps! see you on the table...

for most of the sanding i use a heavy duty 60 grit sandpaper lisa...i am glad your friend got you hooked! lol....see you on the table!

So much fun! I am new to your channel and new to mixed media. I am primarily a fabric artist doing a lot of eco printing and dyeing. I also love watercolor. So, this is new territory for me and really fun! Would a Stabilo pencil be similar to a watercolor pencil? Or, perhaps water soluble graphite?

Hi LorriMarie! This is a basic question, I'm sure, but I'm wondering why you mix the glaze with the acrylic paint? Is it just to water it down a bit?
it is to make the acrylic paint more translucent with out effecting the integrity of the paint.....i hopes that helps answer your question kim.....see you on the table....

Hello. I have some questions if I may. I don't understand the purpose of cutting in pieces the book pages and even using them since they got lost in the process, same with the dark color too since it practically disappeared with the green to a point, it had to be bring back with other color.

oh my goodness genoveva...i love your questions! each layer...whether it is seen or unseen...adds more and more energy..if you were to see this piece in person you would be able to feel the difference between a piece with one layer and a piece with many many layers...each layer gives me the ability to bond with the piece and get to feel where the piece wants to go...if i sat down with an 'idea' and completed a 'flat' piece it would not hold the energy that a piece that 'creates' itself...what i can say is....give it a try...the layers give the art piece more energy and the layers will allow you to 'play' with the piece...i hope i answered your questions genoveva...go create, go play, go have fun!!!
Hi, I just found your channel and very clear instructions. I am curious if you can sell prints of collage art if it has recognizable images from magazines in it? Or would that be a copyright problem because you are using someones images. Just curious.
always a good question....i will share my experience....only....if you are in need of legal help? i am not the one! i do not mass produce my art so i am not really a thread to anyone...i use original images and do not make copies of them...so i use them once and then move on...it seems that mass producing is the real problem....thank you for taking the time to ask....see you on the table ronna!

so you have gloss modpodge...can you take it back? if not...use it! it is a bit shinier than the the matte modpodge....and it 'may' take a bit longer to cure....but yep...use what you have! thank you doris for leaving a comment/question....it makes me feel useful...lol! see you on the table doris!
I mix the gloss mod podge with White glue and water and it turns almost matte...

Hello! I just watched your video and I feel inspired to get back to my own collaging. I do have some questions for you, as I have been feeling kind of stuck in sitting down to create and hope you will oblige me with a response.
1. I have done far more collecting than actually collage. It's been nearly 5 years in fact (too long). I sat down last year to try and get things in a more sorted state but still have a ways to go. Do you have any suggestions for organizing? What do you do?
2. What thickness of wood do you use and where do you procure it? I like the idea of using wood as the foundation. I have also considered using paper board recycled from food packaging etc. Do you have any experience with this medium? Any wisdom?
What lead me to this video is my search for some guidance. I will certainly pick up some matte midge podge, squeegee and brush. Previously I had used Elmer's glue sticks and I have not been impressed with the longevity of my pieces using that method.

well hello leia anneliese....the ever present problem of organizing! i purge atleast every 6 months...usually every 3 months....yep...i go through my whole studio and 'gift' the things that do not hold great fun energy...yep....i give them away...they were a good idea once...but have lost there sparkle...so....they are outta here!
chip board with work...any scrap wood that i find...yep....i use it! and it depends on if you are framing pieces or not as to how thin you can go on the food packaging....sky is the limit.....if it stays still long enough...slap on a collage...lol...
glue sticks are fine for some things...but yes....get yourself some matte modpodge! thank you for your comment and questions girl! see you on the table...

What does the glaze do??? Does it make it look more like a magazine shine??
it dilutes the paint without changing the integrity of the paint shannon...i hope that makes sense....go create, go play, go have fun shannon!
Does it matter what grit sandpaper you use to distress your work?
great question terri...i use a 60 grit to 'rough it up'....pretty heavy duty sandpaper...so much fun! go create, go play, go have fun!!
