I've been a Finale user for quite a while. I downloaded the trial version of Dorico to check it out. While the learning curve seems to be holding me back (or my age) it didn't take me long to decide to purchase the the pro version. I will be keeping Finale as well but as I get used to Dorico my production becomes more efficient and the printed scores are much more pleasing.

That's exactly what I did! While most of my projects are in Dorico nowadays, I still have Finale for specific projects. Both programs definitely have their uses.

Well, the final day has arrived. MakeMusic has declared that Finale will no longer continue and that they are joining Steinberg Dorico. Terrible news for Finale users.

Will Finale and Sibelius be able to keep up with the innovations of Dorico and other notation programs? How important is innovation in the music notation world? Leave your thoughts in the comments below!

Musescore imo is just so much better. It has great looking design and funcionality, whilst being free and open source. With that I'd say its definitely on track to outpace sibelius and finale. Musescore dominates younger peoples use from what ive seen, and might become an industry standard (hopefully!)

I'm hoping MuseScore becomes industry standard at some point too! The more music notation programs people can use, the better music will become for everyone!

I've installed Sibelius few month back and ended up uninstall it for its too hard for someone who dont want to spend more time on learning than writing, and prefer writing in easy and free way rather than stick to rules what to write. Btw found the Cresendo music and its doing well and more easier to use. It took me about 5 mins to understand how to use it but I found the software not stable and too pricy. Then I'm ended up using online Noteflight
