Idk why people are bringing up na mas sulit mag luto ng steak sa bahay. You go to a restaurant and enjoy certain meals for the experience. I'm pretty sure Chef JP can cook up a mean steak if he wants to pero if afford pumunta ng steakhouse from time to time, it's a worthwhile experience!
While you've got few good points there, I'd have to disagree with you on some. "Value for money" is subjective and is unique to every individual. Some people may see more value in getting cheaper cuts and cooking their own steaks, while some may prefer to having their steaks served in a restaurant with some fancy jazz music on and some wine, you know, getting the whole experience like you pointed out. Personally, I always cook my own steak. I invested in getting a decent sous vide machine and a cast iron pan, and I've always enjoyed it that way. My point is, you cannot discredit anyone just because you see things differently. If you can buy yourself a good steak and you don't mind paying $$$, good for you, but I'd stick with cooking my own like some other people.
I enjoyed listening to this lovely couple recalling their core memories during their bf and gf days that are food trips..nice experience for both of them..love the Convo.. keep it up lovely couple...
Congrats on the new baby! My core memories of good times are not the grand restaurants but the older places in the city that our family would visit on weekends, holidays, or special occasions. Back in the day, it was the old Aristocrat along Roxas Boulevard near the Malate Church, or the old Savory and Ma Mon Luk in Binondo. In Greenhills, our favorite was the House of Minis in the old Shoppesville arcade, as well as the Maxim's restaurant. Along Shaw Boulevard we used to visit the old Moon Palace but it's been years since it has been closed. We also used to travel to Tagaytay to visit the old Josephine's restaurant. The old coffeeshop at Taal Vista Hotel had a lot of charm. SM has done a lot to improve the hotel and the service is still competent, but I miss the simplicity of the old hotel. Times of course will require establishments to make improvements but nostalgia does give those old memories greater significance.
I remember Savory would give you a bowl of kalamansi and warm towel to clean your hands. As a kid, that was fancy pants for me, then it became more of a beer garden , the one in Escolta.
The best talaga Mamou and the best din ang quality of service sa Mamou Prime. Goodluck on your new path of Journey Chef JP.
Congrats po Chef JP and Miss Cams sa bagong journey as a new parents.
Dining is an experience kaya Hindi lng dapat basta masarap lang. It's how costumers create memories, babalikbalikan and be recommended. Siguro strength din talaga Ng Mamou ung genuine and Good management and leadership Kasi naiispire ung staff to do well and stay- part of the reasons why it stayed consistent. Very motivated Sila sa trabaho which as a costumer, it's very nice to see. Off topic. Mukang masarap talaga lahat but IDK why I'm drawn to that steak rice. Hitik sa steak oil like wow IT LOOKS GOOD🤤
i agreed with Camille, reminds my childhood time the Aristocrat, every time na magbabaksyon ako sa pinas, after they taking me from the Airport hindi maaaring di kami dederetso doon, exept dyan katabi ang malate church..
I didn’t eat beef ever since but when I tried Mamou (thanks to my boss)…its the best! Chef btw we’ve also tried the chicken house express in makati with my fam - super yum! Thank you Chef for all the best food reco! More power and Congratulations to you and your fam! 🎉
For me an institution is a place that’s been there ever since that’s has been serving us for generations. In Vigan City we have a lot of institutions they gave us nostalgic feels that cannot be explained and replaced. Watching from Vigan city chef jp been a fan since 2020❤️
Huge fan here. I love your videos, chef specially kapag kumakaen kayo ni misis ng chinese Food. It brings me back to my childhood eating with the fam back then. Btw congrats to both of you for the upcoming baby. To more videos. Take care and God bless. 😁
for me: 1. minamana within the family at binabalikbalikan 2. service, service, service 3. have that one (or two) ulam that you can't separate it from its name. 4. comforting, yung nakakaalis ng pagka-down. Though for steaks right now, I buy steaks (and beef) at a locally owned beef breeder/butcher/distributor in Bulacan, and they are trying their hand on running a steakhouse up north. If they keep their service up, I'd keep going back to their steakhouse.
Definitely will try this place. Now I’m craving for medium rare ribeye, shoestring potatoes and a glass of cab! Chef and Camille, best wishes and luck sa pagdating ni baby….girl kaya? 🙏🏼🇵🇭🇺🇸
chef, na try nyo napo ba ung rustic morning sa marikina??.. sobrang sarap ng butter dun and carbonara.. life changing po.. promise matutuwa si wifey incase hnd pa sya napunta dun..
Oh I just know she would love Italy! I relate to Mrs Camille, mas prefer ko rin ung simple dishes- I like being able to taste every ingredients. I only stayed there for a week and I really loved it - pero tbh namiss ko din ang kanin at ulam.
I am always in salcedo since my work is there and everytime I walk in the area, I always wonder when would I get the chance to crosspaths with Chef JP ❤️❤️ Congratulations Chef and to your wife on your pregnancy. Blessed and safe delivery for the both of you 👌❤️🤘 Miss ko na camp episode mo with ninong ry x chef mountain man ❤❤ Loveyouuuuuu
Can't believe I only tried Mamou recently and went back for a special reunion. Love the dry aged ribeye. For me, it's worth the price. Napa-isip tuloy ako bumalik!
Our 1st Mamou experience was in Serendra for my birthday in the early 2010s. There we met Tita Annie. She's a Montano, like my wife also from Cavite. When we cant get a reservation in Serendra because they have 1st and 2nd seating there, she recommended that we go to Rockwell instead. Since that time, we always go to Rockwell na. Yesterday my daughter and I watched the UP Ateneo basketball game in Araneta. We saw the the new Mamou there in Gateway 2, it was packed...
I was looking a good steakhouse and after a good research, Mamou is a top spot recommendation. Tapos nakita ko ito, it’s a sign na pupuntahan namin ito. PS: Ngayon ngayon lang ako nakakain ng ganito since nakaluwag-luwag na ng kaunti sa buhay. Reward lang sa sarili ba 😊
You need to have a good product and Mamou has it. It’s hard to find a good steak house. We have Melo’s in the south but I would make the trip to BGC if I wanted a good steak! On a special occasion like a wedding anniversary!
To me, a restaurant is an institution if the food is consistent in taste and quality. It's a turnoff when it's not. The most friendly but professional wait staff also makes a place an institution. There's something about walking into a place knowing that your favorite waiter/waitress will be there to greet you. I've been to Commander's Palace in New Orleans and that place screams institution. LOL. Also, Langer's Deli in LA is an institution because you'll always see the owner behind the counter. Familiarity and consistency.
Other than the food needs to be consistent through the years, 1 criteria i feel if we talk about how long the restaurant needs to be still in operation to be called an "institution"....Pag ung apo mo....or your children let their own kids experience it....thats an institution na. Taste wise...it should be good ofcourse yet you know there is one or two new places you can have the same dish better but you still go back to the same old restaurant you got used to and thats the nostalgia factor.
yummy-yummy fronting USLS gate 2 (before) - they are now located in front of Mormon Church CL Montelibano drive * why an institution? the bbq sauce and crew - the OGs are still there who became my friends - (our friends) since then up to now. special thanks to the owners for keeping the sauce alive! * sad to say wala na footlong . . 😪
Speaking about recollections, one of the restaurants or institutions I visited when I was younger was Savory. It reminds me of the past, particularly the scent and taste of the fried chicken and delicious fried rice. 😻
Consistent kasi all ingredients are measured and cooking is timed, strictly, and getting the right people. And it’s applicable to all workplace not just restaurants.

Facts... Steakhouses are mainly for the experience. Its primarily a business strategy

Our family’s go to. My nephews and nieces love the steak especially ❤.
Chef JP appreciates all the food that he eats. Very humble Chef.
Our family's go to steakhouse is I'm Angus Steakhouse. If i'm not mistaken they've been open since the 1960's. love their prime rib steak and seabass.
Hope you are enjoying fatherhood. Kaya mo yan Chef! Ikaw pa ba naman? 👍

Consistent kasi all ingredients are measured and cooking is timed, strictly, and getting the right people. And it’s applicable to all workplace not just restaurants.
Institution is something like Mamon Luk, Hizons, Estrels, Aristocract! Longevity means good food.
Some are pre war.
The Aristocrat in Manila is one of the institution especially the chicken barbecue and they are famous too with their bebingka.
oh! She's pregnant! Congrats sir and Maam!
