Powder is a move I really hope we get back, it was niche as hell but it has a super unique mechanic and it was really fun to mess with all the mega charizards when it was around.
Exactly this!! I used it as a lead vs Mega Zard Y usually with Friend Guard alongside an Assault Vest Machamp running Dynamic Punch, Rock Slide, Fire Blast & Focus Blast
Oh My God! Jesus-Christ! Really? I used to run a Ribombee with Powder, along with a Vivillion with Powder, as these two Pokemon were the only pokemon capable of learning theses moves in gen 7...I used Ribombee and Vivillion with Alolan Ninetails with Aurora Veil, and Alolan Sandslash with Substitute, Swords Dance, Icicle Crash and Earthqauke, with Leftovers.... I would set up Arauro Veil with Alolan Ninetails, then Substitute with Alolan Sandslash, then Swords Dance and sweep thanks to Icicle Crash, Earthquake for coverage and the ability Slush Rush for speed... I would use Follow Me on Alolan Ninetails i think, to redirect all attacks to it... It wad kind of bad coming from me, but if Alolan Ninetails fainted i would send in Ribombee, and either use Powder on the pokemon i expect to use Fire moves, or attack or heal my Alolan Sandlash with Pollen Puff (another really great not very popular move!), i could also send in Vivillion if Ribombee fainted, and as it had the move Hurricane i could attack most Fighting-type pokemon super-effectively, along with having a Focus Sash i think... I also had Mega Scizor in the back if the battle was not going in my favor, it had Bullet Punch and Bug Bite i think... I also had Tapu Koko in the last slot on my team i think... My Alolan Ninetails also had Blizzard and Moonblast for attacking early game! Ok, my team was kind of a bit weird, but i had a LOT of fun with it when my strategy worked! Using Powder on all these Inceneroars in Gen 7 was hilarious! They would attack themselves instead of us! My team might be gimmicky, but it was so much fun to battle with it! This Pokemon Team prtty much made me like Doubles Gen 7 OU as a format ! All of this was played on Pokemon Showdown, kind of illegally if you ask me, as i couldn't buy a Pokemon game! But Holy Trinityl! I have pretty memories playing with these Pokemon! ❤
I've been making a mod for showdown and my first moveset change has been handing Powder out like hotcakes to various mons that it fit thematically for (mostly bugs and Cyndaquil [totally because of its fiery fur and not because it's my favourite starter and needed a little extra touch-up to its moveset or anything...])
I feel that people understate the importance of pursuit being removed. While it may be really bad in doubles, it was one of the most important ways to keep mons in check. Mons like calyrex shadow, or dragapult would not be nearly as broken if pursuit was in the game.
GF: "We're changing the way Friendship works in the new games, so we're deleting Return and Frustration." "Just update the moves so they function with the new mechanics?" GF: "No."
I miss Signal Beam. It makes for some nice special bug coverage. I was disappointed when I learned Jolteon couldn’t learn it starting with Let’s Go. It really could of used it instead of having both Thunder and Thunderbolt when I played Let’s Go Eevee and used all eeveelutions in a playthrough.
Imo pursuit is more impactful than hidden power in singles. It singlehandedly kept a lot of super broken fast paced threats, especially ghost types, in check. Without pursuit ghost types became free to spam ghost stab, with far less answers than in previous gens. As for psychic types... Most psychic types get rocked by the ghost threats that became viable after pursuit's removal. There's only two in OU at the moment, namely dragapult and gholdengo, but that's because they outclass pretty much all other ghosts currently.
Maybe because of Tera Blast which is basically "new" hidden power. But before that it really crushed some pokemon into lower tiers because they couldn't break past things like ferothorn with hp fire or electrics being able break landorus-t
1 move shouldn't be so powerful and widely distributed that it keeps 2 whole types in check. I'm happy it's gone. Now they just need to make better mons of other types
@@KiLLKiNDLY you know how the type chart works right? Ghost is good not just because "the pokemon is good" its a busted type generally its only resisted by dark and normal type is awful. ghost fighting has no resists outside of ghost types. its dragon type all over again.
@@windwaker0rules So what they made a couple busted Ghost mons this gen? It's about time they were some solid ghost types, if they didn't make busted ghost types you'd be complaining about something else broken they made like dracovish. Pursuit was my favorite move for honchkrow. it was literally my UU trump card for OU. you didnt know if I would sucker punch or pursuit (mind games) and with that moxie ability, it quickly snowballed to a sweeping pokemon. heck ive even brought it to Ubers and beaten legendaries.
I don’t think Eternamax’s model is why the move was removed. They could’ve just changed the animation to Eternatus flying up, beams raining down, and Eternatus lands back down. But then again, I also don’t have a reason for why they removed it, so who knows? Speaking of Eternabeam, wouldn’t it have been A LOT more useable if it hit both opponents in a double battle? It’s a rain of exploding beams, why does it only hit one Pokemon?!
The worst part is that Double Team and Minimize continue to exist even thought they should have been the first ones in the cutting room. From Gens 2-7 the only justification for their continued existence was the fact that no moves had ever been removed. By all means they should have been gone in SS and never come back.
The removal of return is heartbreaking for me, it was my favorite move. I looked for it everywhere while playing Violet :c Hidden Power was also a really cool move and I loved trying to figure out what hidden power type my pokemon had
I need minior back, it’s my favorite rock type closely followed by archeops rampardos and cradily and I need to use it in competetive lol (most of the time singles tho )
I feel like they could've kept Eternabeam if it were made into a cutscene attack. That way, you wouldn't have to worry about Eternamax Eternatus' model clipping anywhere. It pretty much is one anyway.
I kinda hope Powder comes back, but as a single-use hazard on the enemy side if either side uses fire. Gives some strategy, and some bug + fire synergy. Pursuit and Snatch I would like back. It really helped that dark type fantasy that throat chop and knock off nailed. I absolutely do not miss hidden power. I hated looking for the right type.
Power up punch. I used to alternate between power up punch and drain punch. I used it to keep up offensive pressure while passively setting up stronger and stronger heals.
HONESTLY such a valid combo, bet it would have been a nightmare with assault vest or something lol Edit; does Lucario get meteor mash and drain punch? It's not the best but it might do
The most annoying removals to me are the various lower-power moves that have been cut over the years. Yeah, they aren't competetively useful, but it makes training pokemon far less interesting when the pool of lower power moves they can learn as they grow is much more shallow. Competetive and endgame ain't everything. Some of the support removals that saw limited use and were thus cut are kind of a bummer now that raids are a thing and support has a wider reach. Like, during the Samurott event I went looking for a Lucky Chant user only to find that had been cut. Mud and Water Sport could be interesting in raids, also gone. Ditto for Foresight / Odor Sleuth / Magic Eye. Telekinesis could be fun raid support, gone. Even something like Rototiller could be very handy for specific raid situations. Also as other people have mentioned, Signal Beam. Really not sure why they needed to remove that one, it was a serviceable coverage option on a lot of pokemon and a mid-level special bug attack between Struggle Bug and Bug Buzz. I guess it could be because it started out as a signiture move on Volbeat so they just cut it when that got Dexit'd, but I feel like it definitely could have stuck around.
My favorite move being removed was probably Feint Attack because Gamefreak took the move away from everyone, bumped its base power up to 80, and then gave it to the Impidimp line's evolved Pokemon as their signature move. Gotta love recycling, eh?
The opposite actually. Th epoint is that other player's POkemon are likely to be max happiness unless they've gone out of their way to minimize it. So if your Snorlax gets Ditto'ed, you'd rather it have a mnimum power Frustration than a maximum power Return.
Volbeat prankster baton pass is fun, also counter + quick attack gave it a pseudo fear set. For the last move it got nice options like tailwind, encore and thunder wave. Was super fun to mess with before nat dex ag was obliterated by revive cats and tera shedinja Edit: forgot that I already had 4 moves before the listed extra options, also partially because I messed with different moves, instead of quick attack, which was in reality was moreso for picking off sash mons. Counter tended to finish off things anyway so quick attack was the move that would be swapped out for the moves listed above
I feel like Dynamax cannon (as well as Behemoth Blade/Bash) could be reclaimed by keeping it that they are double effective VS a Pokemon that has terastalized. Being a 100-100 move isn't bad, but being stripped of their purpose makes the moves feel lacking, especially when compared to other primary legendaries.
They should just have double power in raids, applying the effect to Terastal would make no sense from a lore standpoint, plus it would open the gate to apply to Megas and any Pokemon With A Z Crystal which doesn't sound fun since that just means "Use mechanics to get punished." Edit: Typo
@@aaronolson6736 I don't think any move's intended identity has been "This is here to punish people for using the regional mechanic" even those moves that dealt extra Dynamax damage effectively only dealt REGULAR damage because of the increased health
This doesn't have any sense because Dynamax allows you to double your HP, while Terastalization just changes your type. Behemoth Blade would be a 200 base power move with stab and potentially with the Intrepid Sword boost against a "normal" Pokémon with normal HP
The only two ways Eternabeam can resurface in gen 9 is A. The boring option by sizing the model down to fit or B. Make an entire animation regardless of the surroundings
I miss Vespiqueens special moves like Heal Order and there was one more I think Attack Order was deleted. She wasn’t great but it made her fun to use having special unique moves.
I laughed so hard when you said that the Eternamax model couldn't reasonably fit into SV without clipping. Saying that uniron9ically knowing how buggy SV already is with its existing assets is WILD lol not to mention how off-scale Eternatus is in SV. It's supposed to be one of the largest Pokémon in existence and it's barely the size of a car in-game. Wished you mentioned Signal Beam. I know my Jolteon would miss it
Gen 7 Lax would be a cool video, especially since it was a perfect storm with the clutch berries and everything really coming together to create an entirely broken sweeper for at least one generation. Great vid as always
Are we going to talk about the thumbnail? Tapu Koko in the "Then" section: You're no match for the almighty Tapu Koko! Tapu Koko in the "Now" section: Oh no, Hidden Power has been removed. I'm screwed. Landorus Incarnate in the "Now" section: Oh yes you are. Since Hidden Power is no longer a thing, it's beatdown time.
It makes sense to cut down on some of the moves that have about 10 other better alternatives but there was no good reason to remove these really unique moves no matter how viable or widely used they are
5:06 Fun fact! My 1st team in SuMo VGC was a team with both Aerodactyl/Koko. I trained Koko to be 1 speed point lower than Aero, so I could land Sky Drop w/ Aero & combo into consistent unprotected one-shots with Electrium Z Koko Apparently a Korean team perfected the idea w/ Mega Aero & substitute Xurkitree in USUM, and I think that’s awesome. RIP Sky Drop 🫡
Can we talk about them removing one of Vespiquen's signature moves? Like, they let her keep Defend Order and Attack Order... But they didn't let her keep her unique recovery move, Heal Order. Which is just such a strange choice.
The move removals to me has always been what Dexit was to a lot of other people. Fortunately, we have seen that some moves are eligible to return in certain games, as Legends Arceus game us back Silver Wind and Ominous Wind for a little while.
I just wish we got a 100 bp Normal move. I'm tired of looking at the various Normal physical attackers, and needing to either skimp out on power with Body Slam, succumb to recoil with Double Edge, or run an Orb with Facade.
Eternabeam in the footage you provided has an all black background, it's pretty easy to just render it and it's beam above the terrain even if it's only for the cinematic part :b
They should have just made Eternabeam without the E-Max Eternatus model. Just make Eternatus fly up, the lasers shine down on the target and then Eternatus returns.
Honestly, I'm glad hidden power is gone. I wouldn't wish hidden power breeding on my worst enemy. If it does ever come back in a mainline game, I hope they take the Legends Arceus route and make it super effective versus everything, but it's still Unown exclusive.
Sky drop had turn cheese and pursuit was probably dropped so their new legendaries could be strong (being part psychics). Also, pursuit plus things like U-Turn to get them in can eradicate the existence of anything weak to dark.
Tbh as necessary as hidden power was in some mons.....personally I am glad is removed over how much of a pain it was to breed for (and to balance with Dynamax) And rn we have Tera beam and that one is prettier anyways
Not to mention the move had been outdated for over a decade by the time it finally left. In gen 2 & 3 wether the move was physical or special depended on the type, so it technically had the physical/special split before gen 4, and then was locked purely to special once the split did happen with no physical equivalent ever being made. And then when fairy was introduced, it couldn’t be that type, and if they had tried fixing that it’d likely screw over tons of Pokémon that people had bred for specific HP types.
"Tail Glow was removed from the game." Tail Glow in Gen IX: "Please allow me to reintroduce myself, I'm a move of power and pain. I've been back for just a year, and crushed many trainer's glory and fame..."
Gastrodon, Cradily, Octillery, Shuckle, Venomoth, Dustox, Beedrill, and maybe Venusaur are all the mons with access to String Shot that could have Toxic Thread.
@@borismuller86 yeah it’s move pool is definitely great, but it’s held back by its stats though. When your two highest stats by a decent margin are a 92 and 86 in Defense & Sp. Defense respectively, that’s gen 1 bug levels of rough.
What you said about eternabeam makes me sad about pokemons open world thing. I like S/V but in general battle animations feel less cool especially with bigger moves like thst.
They literally had to put in the time to remove these moves, Nothing about how these moves work makes them malfunction in the gen 8 and 9 games, They just removed them to deny hackers the ability to experiment with them.
To be fair, 90% of removed moves were super niche gimmick moves no one used or random low-power holdovers from generations ago that I already asked myself why that move existed, like razor wind or constrict. There still are about a dozen-two where I thought "why the hell would they remove that move" but most of them? Barely everyone will miss them.
@@youtube-kit9450i miss foresight, i miss it a-lot. The only way i wont is if they give us fighting and normal moves that are actually super effective against ghost types.

Man, I'm so glad they removed Eternabeam in Gen 9. I can't imagine what Scarlet and Violet would have been like if we'd had graphical glitches all the time.
Surprised you didn't mention that Void Cats was really only doable in Gen VI, since Dark Void got nerfed to only be usable by Darkrai in Gen VII, thanks to Smeargle.
It's honestly great HP is gone for both balance reasons and just sheer annoyance of breeding. It basically gave every special attacker between good and great coverage, at that point you can't really make a mon that has a clear weakness in coverage. Not to mention it became a guessing game for the opponent, which seems to be a pattern with the moves removed as loads where simply "random damage in some way"-type moves. Terablast is far more predictable, less powerful and has no breeding jank and applicable for every pokemon, not just special attackers.
in my opinion I would like hidden power to return when the Tera is removed in generation 10 but I suggest this rework: hidden power: normal type 85 BP (special) 100% accuracy This move becomes a physical attack if the user's Attack is greater than its Special Attack The reason why I increased the power from 60 to 85 is because now whether you want to switch types will depend on whether you have one of the "Arceus tables" equipped or items like Charcoal and its counterparts on other types. In my case, I consider that it is balanced to have a movement of 85 BP of STAB or 102 BP (in its use of elemental coverage) because you are forced to use a specific object
UPDATE: Tail Glow came back on Manaphy in S/V. This means Xurkitree might get it too

Mons like calyrex shadow, or dragapult would not be nearly as broken if pursuit was in the game.
tera messes with this a little but yeah
And Gholdengo wouldn't be so meta in gen 9
@@supremechaosbeing2696still you essentially force a tera which is very good in a meta where Kingambit is on so many teams
Now, imagine Kingambit and Chien Pao with pursuit
Pursuit was less checking ghost and psychic mons and more like handicapping them
Imagine hating your boy unown so much you take away it's only move 😢
Return and Frustration were likely cut because of how Friendship mechanics changed starting with Gen 8.
Wait DID they change? I didn't know that
GF: "We're changing the way Friendship works in the new games, so we're deleting Return and Frustration."
"Just update the moves so they function with the new mechanics?"
GF: "No."
I miss Signal Beam. It makes for some nice special bug coverage. I was disappointed when I learned Jolteon couldn’t learn it starting with Let’s Go. It really could of used it instead of having both Thunder and Thunderbolt when I played Let’s Go Eevee and used all eeveelutions in a playthrough.
pin missile didn't exist in gen 1
Return/Frustration probably were due the fact rental teams were going to be a thing, and GF did not wanna mess with dealing on how that would work lol
didn t they also change how friendshipp worked?
It's not that hard. You'd just have the Friendship value be stored with the Pokemon.
Flutter Mane tho??
It's how GF work they make absurdly broken sh*t and say deal with it. Now we can finally just add phsycic and ghost types to be viable sweepers without being pursuit trapped
The moves I miss are rock slides and hydro pumps tbh
Lmao
But he hits every focus blast and hypnosis so that's a win
RIP Flame Burst. Not good in competitive but was an early usable Fire Type move for Growlithe and I loved it so eh
Even as a mostly casual player, Return being gone is so annoying.
It only hits one pokemon because it's what the other ones do.
Now I'm imagining Unown being brought back, but not Hidden Power.
Just send a letter out to struggle itself to death.
Suddenly Unown learns Nature Power instead.
Some psychopath would find a way to make it work
Its so insane that a move as essential to Competitive as Pursuit was removed! Such a sad blow
R.I.P. Technician HP Fire/Ice Roserade
2013-2019
The worst part is that Double Team and Minimize continue to exist even thought they should have been the first ones in the cutting room.
From Gens 2-7 the only justification for their continued existence was the fact that no moves had ever been removed. By all means they should have been gone in SS and never come back.
fr minimize and double team are the most annoying and unfair thing to play against
I wouldn't mind Evasion moves BUT there are just not enough natural counters against them!!
and ppl should only be able to use them like TWICE
And yet they decided to remove foresight, oder sluth and magic eye which are the counters to them.
@@mlpfanboy1701no way 😮
Wouldnt it be simplier to Just ban certain moves from tournaments
The removal of return is heartbreaking for me, it was my favorite move. I looked for it everywhere while playing Violet :c
Hidden Power was also a really cool move and I loved trying to figure out what hidden power type my pokemon had
I need minior back, it’s my favorite rock type closely followed by archeops rampardos and cradily and I need to use it in competetive lol (most of the time singles tho )
Minior fans are hard to find, but we are strong ❤
I had no clue minior existed until I got swept by it in natdex last week
Minor is so unique. I love all those Minors!!!
Minior is one of my favourites as well
@@BeanyBoi06 lol, I use it in nat dex UU, really fun to use there
I feel like they could've kept Eternabeam if it were made into a cutscene attack. That way, you wouldn't have to worry about Eternamax Eternatus' model clipping anywhere. It pretty much is one anyway.
i miss snatch so f***ing much like they should reintroduce it with +3 priority
Snatch was so fucking necessary now, I really dont understand how they think its balance to keep Prankster Tailwind running unpunished like that
I kinda hope Powder comes back, but as a single-use hazard on the enemy side if either side uses fire. Gives some strategy, and some bug + fire synergy.
Pursuit and Snatch I would like back. It really helped that dark type fantasy that throat chop and knock off nailed.
I absolutely do not miss hidden power. I hated looking for the right type.
10:05 if anything, that would acctually be pretty on brand for SV
Power up punch. I used to alternate between power up punch and drain punch. I used it to keep up offensive pressure while passively setting up stronger and stronger heals.
HONESTLY such a valid combo, bet it would have been a nightmare with assault vest or something lol
Edit; does Lucario get meteor mash and drain punch? It's not the best but it might do
They took Power Up Punch out of the game!? That’s criminal! (I don’t have S&V so I wouldn’t know)
The most annoying removals to me are the various lower-power moves that have been cut over the years.
I guess it could be because it started out as a signiture move on Volbeat so they just cut it when that got Dexit'd, but I feel like it definitely could have stuck around.
the in between power moves that got cut like flame burst just makes level up movesets way less interesting
My favorite move being removed was probably Feint Attack because Gamefreak took the move away from everyone, bumped its base power up to 80, and then gave it to the Impidimp line's evolved Pokemon as their signature move. Gotta love recycling, eh?
Also gave that move to Kingambit specifically and gave it 5 more to the base power
2:32 when I heard that frustration was optimal, this just implies that Pro players don’t treat their Pokémon with respect and more as tools 😢
Welcome to Competitive Pokemon where your feelings do not matter!
The opposite actually. Th epoint is that other player's POkemon are likely to be max happiness unless they've gone out of their way to minimize it. So if your Snorlax gets Ditto'ed, you'd rather it have a mnimum power Frustration than a maximum power Return.
I miss Bubble, it was such a joke move, how could they keep splash, but get rid of the Majestic single Bubble that somehow annihilated every rock gym.
I think it's Ironic that Return never returned to later Pokemon games!😂
As a singles player, i miss Heart Swap Magearna...i used to love using it to take Xerneas' Geomancy boosts and sweep teams.
Genuinely convinced the HP removal was in prep for Tera to help push the concept
It *does* look pretty suspicious, not gonna lie...
Volbeat prankster baton pass is fun, also counter + quick attack gave it a pseudo fear set. For the last move it got nice options like tailwind, encore and thunder wave. Was super fun to mess with before nat dex ag was obliterated by revive cats and tera shedinja
Edit: forgot that I already had 4 moves before the listed extra options, also partially because I messed with different moves, instead of quick attack, which was in reality was moreso for picking off sash mons.
Either that or extra damage in raids, I need that back
They should just have double power in raids, applying the effect to Terastal would make no sense from a lore standpoint, plus it would open the gate to apply to Megas and any Pokemon With A Z Crystal which doesn't sound fun since that just means "Use mechanics to get punished."
Edit: Typo
@@baxterbruce9827 while I get the concern, that was the moves identity. Maybe 50% increase since everything else isn't on a timer
So many Normal 'mons were left with no good physical STAB with the removal of Return/Frustration and it makes me sad.
Heal and Defend were deleted. Attack was kept.
Great vid as always
still not as busted as gen 2
I should have taught my toxic space parasite the big ol' beam move
Are we going to talk about the thumbnail?
Tapu Koko in the "Then" section: You're no match for the almighty Tapu Koko!
Tapu Koko in the "Now" section: Oh no, Hidden Power has been removed. I'm screwed.
Landorus Incarnate in the "Now" section: Oh yes you are. Since Hidden Power is no longer a thing, it's beatdown time.
Pursuit was really good in 3v3 singles. Like really good
RIP signal beam
It makes sense to cut down on some of the moves that have about 10 other better alternatives but there was no good reason to remove these really unique moves no matter how viable or widely used they are
5:06
Fun fact! My 1st team in SuMo VGC was a team with both Aerodactyl/Koko. I trained Koko to be 1 speed point lower than Aero, so I could land Sky Drop w/ Aero & combo into consistent unprotected one-shots with Electrium Z Koko
Apparently a Korean team perfected the idea w/ Mega Aero & substitute Xurkitree in USUM, and I think that’s awesome. RIP Sky Drop 🫡
Can we talk about them removing one of Vespiquen's signature moves? Like, they let her keep Defend Order and Attack Order... But they didn't let her keep her unique recovery move, Heal Order. Which is just such a strange choice.
I didn't even know that Eternatus had that move in the first place, I've been living under a rock
Tail glow returned in S/V later patches (According to Bulbapedia)
The fact a lot of these moves were removed right were also being frequently seen in 2017 VGC can't be a coincidence.
The move removals to me has always been what Dexit was to a lot of other people. Fortunately, we have seen that some moves are eligible to return in certain games, as Legends Arceus game us back Silver Wind and Ominous Wind for a little while.
*Frustration* is what I feel when Gamefreak removed so many Pokémon and moves (Some of my favourite Pokémon weren’t in generation 8 or 9).
Scald got changed to only be learned by volcanion, which is kinda pointless since steam eruption is already a better scald
Doesn't the new sinestea get it?
@@scp-phenomenon014 this comment was made before the dlc released
I just wish we got a 100 bp Normal move. I'm tired of looking at the various Normal physical attackers, and needing to either skimp out on power with Body Slam, succumb to recoil with Double Edge, or run an Orb with Facade.
Honestly I figured this channel already had a couple hundred thousand subscribers the quality is so damn good
God I wish.
Eternabeam in the footage you provided has an all black background, it's pretty easy to just render it and it's beam above the terrain even if it's only for the cinematic part :b
They tried to remove splash. But nothing happened.
10:07 “without it looking bugged or clipping into geometry”
Since when has that stopped them 💀
gonna miss running return lopunny with max friendship in my playthroughs
Any Pokémon can become super strong through Tera Blast, that’s HP on steroids
They should have just made Eternabeam without the E-Max Eternatus model. Just make Eternatus fly up, the lasers shine down on the target and then Eternatus returns.
This is the best video on UA-cam about Pokémon.

IF HIDDEN POWER RETURNS: it should do damage based on the higher stat of the two: Special/Physical
When my dumbass saw the title I thought Nintendo shut down a fan game called Game Freak Removed 💀
Honestly, I'm glad hidden power is gone. I wouldn't wish hidden power breeding on my worst enemy. If it does ever come back in a mainline game, I hope they take the Legends Arceus route and make it super effective versus everything, but it's still Unown exclusive.
I have a theory that some moves, like Pursuit and Sky Drop, were culled because they were incompatible with Dynamax.
But yet Heavy Slam and Pluck remained.
Sky drop had turn cheese and pursuit was probably dropped so their new legendaries could be strong (being part psychics). Also, pursuit plus things like U-Turn to get them in can eradicate the existence of anything weak to dark.
@@uberculexl + bozos + just make the pokemon have the secondary type balance its weaknesses if it matters so much 💀
Frankly, the fact that removed moves are in BDSP is probably more laziness than anything else.
Tbh as necessary as hidden power was in some mons.....personally I am glad is removed over how much of a pain it was to breed for (and to balance with Dynamax)
And rn we have Tera beam and that one is prettier anyways
Not to mention the move had been outdated for over a decade by the time it finally left. In gen 2 & 3 wether the move was physical or special depended on the type, so it technically had the physical/special split before gen 4, and then was locked purely to special once the split did happen with no physical equivalent ever being made. And then when fairy was introduced, it couldn’t be that type, and if they had tried fixing that it’d likely screw over tons of Pokémon that people had bred for specific HP types.
I sensed no pain when bred my hidden power mons.

Toxic thread. Such an underrated move. If a competent mon got it outside of Spinarak line, it'd be a godsend.
Gastrodon, Cradily, Octillery, Shuckle, Venomoth, Dustox, Beedrill, and maybe Venusaur are all the mons with access to String Shot that could have Toxic Thread.
I’d nominate Spidops if it actually had good stats

@@borismuller86 yeah it’s move pool is definitely great, but it’s held back by its stats though. When your two highest stats by a decent margin are a 92 and 86 in Defense & Sp. Defense respectively, that’s gen 1 bug levels of rough.
@@CaptainObliviousVGameFreak: Spidops now has Pursuit
What you said about eternabeam makes me sad about pokemons open world thing. I like S/V but in general battle animations feel less cool especially with bigger moves like thst.
Let's be real, 90% of these moves were removed because they didn't have time to add some of the more complex moves due to time restraints
They literally had to put in the time to remove these moves,
Nothing about how these moves work makes them malfunction in the gen 8 and 9 games,
They just removed them to deny hackers the ability to experiment with them.

I didn't even know they removed Return/Frustration, how could they do this?
Man, I'm so glad they removed Eternabeam in Gen 9. I can't imagine what Scarlet and Violet would have been like if we'd had graphical glitches all the time.
Surprised you didn't mention that Void Cats was really only doable in Gen VI, since Dark Void got nerfed to only be usable by Darkrai in Gen VII, thanks to Smeargle.
It doesn't really matter,
Dive Cats and Revive Cats work the same way.
I'm gonna miss being able to use Autotomize on Celesteela and Necrozma :(
I miss Ominous Wind. I know it wasn’t super strong or amazing, but the name and battle animation were really cool to me.
100%, I am SO glad HP is gone (or it can come back BUT the type has to be in-game changeable)
in my opinion I would like hidden power to return when the Tera is removed in generation 10
but I suggest this rework:
hidden power: normal type
85 BP (special)
100% accuracy
This move becomes a physical attack if the user's Attack is greater than its Special Attack
The reason why I increased the power from 60 to 85 is because now whether you want to switch types will depend on whether you have one of the "Arceus tables" equipped or items like Charcoal and its counterparts on other types.
In my case, I consider that it is balanced to have a movement of 85 BP of STAB or 102 BP (in its use of elemental coverage) because you are forced to use a specific object
Would love to see the Snorlax vid, it would be pretty slick to get pursuit back
