As a wolves fan, i think the small decline in mcdaniels defense has been the fouls, once he gets a few i think he becomes less aggressive trying to stay in the game

Nba refs choosing special treatment is one of the most obvious and weird things about the nba.
Like Tatum and Jokic both get bad whistles despite being the two most successful guys given their age and both have a significantly less forgiving whistle than Embiid who’s been labeled as a choker.
And then on the other hand guys like Butler and Lowry get every call they want deposits never being seen as top 3 players at their position.
And then on defense guys like pat bev and draymond get very forgiving whistles because they’re known as “pests” on defense while actual lockdown guys like Mcdaniels get whistled like they’re playing pat bev defense.
Like I’ll go to my grave saying Draymond Green is the single most catered to player by refs in nba history. AND IT MAKES NO SENSE WHY DOES HE DESERVE THAT.

As a Celtics fan I can tell you that throughout the years there’s just certain guys who always seem to get up to play against us and kill us.
Luka has 4 game winners in his career and 2 of them are against us. He also averages like a 38 point triple double vs us.
It’s not always stars either. Saddiq Bey always seems to shoot 50%+ from 3 vs us, Ish Smith has torched us off the bench for like 6 different teams.
But now it looks like Paulo is one of those guys too, which terrifies me because he reminds me a ton of what Tatum was like at his age only he already has more muscle than year 1 or 2 Tatum did.

McDaniels take is spot on. I watch as many wolves games as I can, which is about 60-70%. What I will say about him is that he has a LOT of bad mistakes, especially at times where it matters. His defensive abilities are potentially best in the league, but the iq NEEDS work to get there. His anger is also a big concern for me. He didn’t show his emotions the past years, but ever since “the punch” last season that took him out, we’ve seen a lot of times where his anger puts us in bad situations. Just about a week ago (I think the Celtics game), he had a foul that was completely unnecessary at the end of the game, and also fouled him out. Another time in a close game (maybe that same game, my memory is very bad), he got a tech near the end of a game in crunch time, after he fouled out. I love McDaniels, but man, it sucks knowing how good he can be, but it seems as though he’s taken one MASSIVE step back instead of forward as most of us we’re expecting
EDIT: I forgot to mention his problems this year especially with playing elite defense without fouling. Many times he is playing great defense, but ends up fouling his man. This is an example of the iq I mad mentioning

It reminds me of the year Harden demanded a trade from the Nets. Kyrie was barely playing, Harden and KD both missed a little bit of time too so they were like the 5th seed in the east. But still nobody wanted to face that team if all 3 guys were playing and even after harden left teams were still trying to avoid them in the first round.

Kind of a broad question, but if you had 100% control of the nba how would you fix all star weekend?
For me, I’d eliminate it altogether and replace it with the In Season Tournament. (Still having all star rosters but skipping the game).
What I would do is have a 1-30 single elimination tournament held in Vegas start to finish. Fly every team in and devote around a week to it. Seed the bracket 1-30, top 2 records in the nba get a first round bye. That’s only 4-5 games played for the champion team and you can have a night off between every game.
The week after the final game there’s no regular season games for players to have a bye week, then back to the playoff push.
Now why move the tourney to the 2/3 mark of the season? Well for one it’s after the trade deadline and teams are established unlike the first months of the season.
But more importantly, UP THE STAKES.
With it being this late in the season, you can have playoff implications as the award for the tourney without the fear of teams just coasting the whole year.
Winner gets an automatic spot in the postseason.
If the winner is 11-15 at the end of the year in either conference, they get the 10 seed in the play in tourney.
If the winner lands in the play in the get the 7 or 8 seed automatically.
If the winner is in the top 6, they get +2 or +3 wins to their record on the year (so it looks like they played 85 games compared to everyone else’s 82) and it boosts their final winning percentage.
Right now that has the Knicks jump from 5th to 3rd and go from on the road vs Cleveland to home vs the pacers.
The nuggets would jump from 4th to 1st and go from playing the kings to the pelicans.
The cool part about the tourney happening this way, is that none of the games count as regular season games. So you could even do 2 20 minute halves like college or even just play like 30 or 20 minute games and have multiple in a single day.
*It would be an insanely hype event that in its first season would already out do any past all star weekend, give players more rest, and since playoffs are on the line you’ll get to see every team at their very best.

As a Timberwolves fan, this season has been very good to great for us, and I do believe we could make a deep playoff push but our offense is horrible sometimes and the defense just doesn’t feel like a number 1 every night. @eliyarrows2456 5 місяців тому

You guys could definitely make a conference finals run and I wouldn’t be surprised at all.
However due to the inexperience and the offensive struggles, I’d be shocked if you win that series.
You remind me of the Celtics in Tatums rookie year and even a bit of last year. You have an elite defense that teams don’t want to see, but the offense is so inconsistent and boils down to Ant and KAT playing hero ball so much that it’s hard to imagine you guys beating a team like Denver who knows how to win games down the stretch.

  • @eliyarrows2456
    @eliyarrows2456 5 місяців тому

Because of Wemby being a generational talent and also a physical specimen, do you think there’s a possibility that he causes rule changes down the line like other unique builds did before him? (For example: chuck, Shaq, kd all changed the rules because they were too effective with a certain move).
And if so, what do you think that could be? The reason I bring this up is because I’ve noticed on plays where he does the “0th, 1st, 2nd step” like other players do when picking up their dribbles it looks like he’s just allowed to travel if he wants and fans in attendance seem to expect a call.
I could see a world where he becomes a 30+ppg guy and is using the moves that Harden established as legal, only they just look so weird with his build that the nba feels the need to be more strict on travels. So that wemby can’t pick up his dribble before half court, take 3 steps and dunk it.

He’s like the most boarderline one for me. I think Jokic, embiid, Giannis, Tatum, Curry, Lebron, Luka, Shai, and KD are locks for me. Then it comes down to your definition of the word.
To me it’s the best of the best. A superstar is a guy who has proven he can be the best player on a championship team. You don’t have to win it, you just have to be dominant enough or make a run close enough.
I’d put it like this: if you think Book or Butler is a superstar, then you should probably put Mitchell in there too. (Butlers a tough one just cause he averaged like 15ppg in the regular season then turns into prime MJ every other post season, I do think regular season success plays a role too which is why soon to be 2x mvp embiid is here despite never making it out of the second round. I still think you can win with embiid because I’m not stupid)

Even as they all went to different teams, Griffin barely sniffed the playoffs, CP3 choked playoffs in Houston and Phoenix, and Embid has us trusting the process for YEARS with no success. But it’s absolutely BS some of the antics he gets away with. The fact he hasn’t gotten a flopping tech yet is proof that the rule is meaningless, and he has a draymond like whistle where he gets what he wants the majority of the time despite not having earned it like superstar treatment in the past.
It used to be once you’re an mvp or a champion you get that extra trust from the ref when you ask for calls. Embiids had that treatment for the last 3 years. I even remember when he shoved Mitchell, Mitchell shoved him back and go ejected. The embiid pointed and laughed at him and didn’t get a tech for any of it. He was participating just as much as the dude who got thrown out and even had more antics and didn’t even get a tech.

The impact of these players on their team is much higher than Tatum, due to the celtics brilliaint team building. Tatum will not have the number nor the impact of the big stars he is competing with, so he will not be able to be the MVP, unless the really have a record breaking season which is not probable due to the increased variance of the 3pt era.
