It's incredibly sad that she has passed away, but it somehow makes her part in The Detectorists, and the relationships with Rachael and other cast members all the more special. It was a wonderful program and I would love for them to make more.
I have so much respect for Rachel Stirling acting in the latest episode where her Mother had died when her actual Mother had died. The same person. Love and respect to both of them. xx

Watching this clip made me well up!..From her days of playing Emma Peel in the Avengers, where she discovered at the beginning that she was being paid less than the cameramen, right the way through to her latter work, I've carried a torch for her. She was such a talented actress!
So many of Rachel’s mannerisms are like Diana’s - facial expressions, the hair touching, the slightly eccentric way of expressing things - what a joy to watch!

When I went to see "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" my friends that I went with had already seen the movie. I stood up in the theatre right after Blofeld shot Tracy right between the eyes SCREAMING NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
I was so offended I stormed out of the theatre leaving all of my friends to find their own way home. I didn't speak to them for a very long time after that one!
I love how she crinkled her nose when she talks about her mum, it's so sweet!

Rachel Stirling and Diana Ring also played mother and daughter in the Victorian-set Dr Who story 'The Crimson Horror'. But a very different relationship to the one they have in The Detectorists! Very good though.

There was so much to Diana's life and career in theatre that is and must remain unknown most fans myself included know only a tiny part of her work, that which has thankfully been recorded. Such a lovely natured person with a wicked sense of humour and so attractive, top top top woman.

I 'felt' something was wrong watching her as matriarch Olenna Tyrell of 'The House of Tyrell' on "Game of Thrones." She just didn't look like she was OK. I bet the bloating she had was from steroids battling her Cancer. Part of me died with her....

The character ,male is highly reactive very hurt by his elder saying be tidy. This accociation if acted or not acted. Bring his infectikn a salt that to me moved by porridve. A milk protien but heavy salt local the porrideg better with fibers . It shifts infections but play here . That reslonse from tbe male is abuse severe and tgere are answers . Perfection is not the goal sanity is.

I love the show but the one bum note for me is Rachael - she's played so over the top it rings false. Every scene she's in is duff.

I wouldn’t go as far as saying ‘duff’, but I find her sarcastic tone a bit wooden. Once noticed it becomes genuinely annoying.
Can't say I agree. I think the fact that Becky is often grumpy is important. Detectorists is about two blokes who could be called losers, except Detectorists is saying that they are playing by different rules, so for them they don't lose. Becky is being leaned on by her mother to find a more successful man, but eventually her mother realises that Andy is good for her daughter. She says as much in a later episode. The dynamic between the grumpy Becky and the endlessly pleasant Andy is one of the aspects that make it real.
